Possible scraper reusing content. Should I be concerned?
-
I've noticed a few overseas sites seem to be repurposing content from our blog. The process to report for DMCA seems lengthy. Should I be concerned enough to persue this or just write it off as something that happens?

This company has lots of similar sites with similar format. All use the chat system, with same operators. Some sites say they are in China, others say they are in India. They know exactly what they are doing. They have been doing it for years. They are flooding the web with your brand name and your products with the hope that it will bring traffic. They steal content to make their sites and are probably knocking-off your products or after your brand delivers visitors they try to sell them a knock-off of your competitor's product.

To be honest - best strategy in this case seems to try to contact the site owner.
It looks like a genuine site but if you do the site: command in Google you'll find plenty of strange pages (about minecraft, Ducati club, ...etc) all in the same strange layout as the page you mention. Probably the site got hacked and needs cleaning.
If contacting the owner doesn't help - you can always try file the Spam and/or DMCA report.

You should be concerned IF scrapper rank higher than your own site.
Meanwhile send report to Google here:

Sending report didn't guarantee that scrapper will be removed from SERP. If you have copyright infringement send reports too:

404 or 503 Malware Content ?
Hi Folks When it comes to malware , if I have a site that uses iframe to show content off 3rd party sites which at times gets infected. Would you recommend 404 or 503 ing those pages with the iframe till the issue is resolved ? ( I am inclined to use 503 .. ) Then take the 404/503 off and ask for a reindex ( from GWT malware section ) OR Ask for a reindex as soon as the 404/503 goes up. ( I do understand we are asking to index as non existing page , but the malware warning gets removed ) PS : it makes sense for this business to showcase content using iframe on these special pages . I do understand these are not the best way to go about SEO.

Duplicate Content Errror
I am getting a duplicate content error for urls for the "tags" or categories pages for my blog. These are some the URLs that SEOmoz is saying are errors, or duplicate pages. http://sacmarketingagency.com/blog/?Tag=Facebook http://sacmarketingagency.com/blog/?Tag=content+marketing http://sacmarketingagency.com/blog/?Tag=inbound+marketing As you can see, they are just the pages that are aggregating certain blog post based on how we tagged them with the appropriate category. Is this really a problem for our SEO, if so any suggestions on how to fix this?

Is this dangerous (a content question)
Hi I am building a new shop with unique products but I also want to offer tips and articles on the same topic as the products (fishing). I think if was to add the articles and advice one piece at a time it would look very empty and give little reason to come back very often. The plan, therefore, is to launch the site pulling articles from a number of article websites - with the site's permission. Obviously this would be 100% duplicate content but it would make the user experience much better and offer added value to my site as people are likely to keep returning even when not in the mood to purchase anything; it also offers the potential for people to email links to friends etc. note: over time we will be adding more unique content and slowly turning off the pulled articled. Anyway, from an seo point of view I know the duplicate content would harm the site but if I was to tell google not to index the directory and block it from even crawling the directory would it still know there is duplicate content on the site and apply the penalty to the non duplicate pages? I'm guessing no but always worth a second opinion. Thanks Carl

How do you measure content on a website?
I never thought of this question before. Maybe because i didn't focus myself on content but only on optimizing existing content from clients. So how do you measure the content on a specific page?

Duplicate content question with PDF
Hi, I manage a property listing website which was recently revamped, but which has some on-site optimization weaknesses and issues. For each property listing like http://www.selectcaribbean.com/property/147.html there is an equivalent PDF version spidered by google. The page looks like this http://www.selectcaribbean.com/pdf1.php?pid=147 my question is: Can this create a duplicate content penalty? If yes, should I ban these pages from being spidered by google in the robots.txt or should I make these link nofollow?
