How much 'ranking power' would a link from a privacy policy page of a Big Brand have if the site content is totally unrelated?
-
Let's say that Site A is a large brand with high authority ( Moz shows it at 90 DA). Site A is about “Blue Shoes”.
Site B is about “fishing”.
If Site A links from their privacy policy page to Site B … would that inbound link carry enough weight in a way that could impact rankings for Site B given that the content is totally unrelated and it's a link from a privacy policy?
I’m asking if the work to get clients/partners do this help.

I think that Google will consider the trust and the authority of the linking website.
Google will also consider the context and relevance of the page and the paragraphs and the sentences that are associated with the link.
So a link to a privacy site from a privacy page is relevant in my mind. Nobody knows what Google really thinks about these things, but to me the value of this link ranges somewhere between good and superb.

Ok. I think it'll help, but don't expect miracles. However if, for example, your client is a privacy lawyer, it might help more than if he/she is a bait & tackle shop

Thanks for your reply.
It's not a link scheme. There's actually a legitimate reason for the this information to appear in the privacy policy of companies who use my client's products. I just don't know if it might help their rankings.

Others may disagree, but I think it would count for something, but I don't know how much.
But why would this even happen if it wasn't a paid link scheme or something similarly shady?

Decent SERP site sending 1000's of links to your website?
I've spent most of this summer trying to clean up my link profile, most links I've never requested myself, they just appear. Here's a question, www.allworldlinks.com appear to have a decent page authority but they are bombarding my site with hundreds of links, I now have over 12,000 from them. This is not good I guess?

Root Domain Link for Affiliate's Link
It seems my affiliate link: http://www.hrmsplugins.com?partners=21 is not being considered as a "root domain" backlink when this link is used on their website. Is there a reason for this?

Drop in rankings after gaining new link
Hi everyone I have seen an odd trend in my rankings over the past 6 months that I would like to hear your experiences about. Everytime a get a new link I see an imediate minor drop in rankings only to bounce back to a higher level tah before. Has anyone seen a similar trend in their rankings and what might be causing it? I have made no changes to the site during the link building process.

Blogs that Link to Random Sites
Posting articles on the MyBlogGuest article gallery can lead to several sites offering to publish your guest post on their blog. However many of these sites will accept any guest post that links out to anything from socks to hotels. Would you avoid guest posting on these sites? (if it would take very little time to do)

Blog traffic / link ratio? (Esimated of how much traffic will result in a link)
Hi, Was wondering if people could please tell me some estimates of how much traffic is likely to gain links to a blog post? For example 1,000 hits = 1 link, Hence 10,000 hits = 10 links to a blog post? I understand there is no magic ratio I just want to know what people have achieved. I’m after averages not just a one off really successful blog post too. Please specify the topic you achieve this in e.g. SEO, photography, business, heath... etc.

Link Building: Asking for links versus building links
I am currently delving into link building for SEO having started out from a social media marketing side. From that angle, it was always my belief building high quality links came from engaging targeted bloggers and sites in my market and related verticals for product reviews and/or providing expert advise and opinion for posts they are creating. As I am learning more the "technical" side of SEO, I've read a lot of posters on here talk about asking from links from websites. While I get the concept from a strategic stand point, are links really asking for or is better to continue to pursue the long term investment of pitching to get coverage from well known bloggers and sites?

Site size affecting page rank?
I've noticed the sites that rank above me for certain phrases are much larger than I am. Here are the results of the 'site:' command for the top 6 results for a phrase I want to rank for (yes, I know that 'site' is not exact): 32,600 pages 8,760,000 pages (wikipedia) 684 pages 148 pages (domain name equal to search phrase) 1400 pages 120 pages (my site) Now, I appreciate that larger sites have more stuff to link to, and therefore have more juice flowing to them from external links. BUT, is it also true that they are generating lots of internal juice by having so many pages? I've looked at the PageRank algorithm and understand that the max page rank for a site (with no external links) is based on the number of pages of that site and how well linked they are). My question is: based on all the experts here, is number of pages in the site an important factor (assuming good on-page SEO), or does it really come down to number of external links (from relevant sites with appropriate anchor text, of course)? Can a small site with tons of external links rank above much larger sites? Has anyone beaten Wikipedia for a phrase they were targeting? How did you do it? Thanks!
