Which SEO Metric is the most Important?
-
Hello
There are many SEO metrics like DA or MozTrust and even Other metrics such as cognitive SEO metric.
-
Just because Moz says you have the same score, it doesn't mean you have links in Googles eyes. I am a big fan of Moz so this isn't me knocking their software - buts its pretty easy to manipulate DA and PA either to show your site has higher metrics / or lower metrics.
Google also crawls more of the web than Moz, so Google could of found more useful links that Moz hence why they might rank above you.
It could also be that they have better user metrics or more people searching for 'brand name + query'
SEO isn't as easy as it was 5 years ago for working out why your competitors rank above you - there isn't a crazy formula anymore. Its softer metrics which are pretty hard to measure.
Concentrate less on them and more on your own site, can you get the site to load that little bit quicker, is your content '10x content' if not, make it 10x content.
Is your site super mobile friendly and I don't mean just "passing the google mobile friendly test" - that's the bare minimum, get real user feedback and try and improve it.
Is there anyway of keeping people on the site longer, could you produce a video.
Thanks
Andy

I see there are 200 factors to ranking, But in comparison, my site and my competitor are equal on-page and my site has better Trust rank, moz rank DA and PA authority. and in SERP, my site is number two and the other one is first of google! Its my question,Why?
-
I agree with logan- just to add one thought.
Seo Metrics like Domain Authority , link amount , link quality are no longer accurate since people send disavow files to google telling google to ignore certain links and the tools don't have the info. In short seo is an art and you need to pull all info available to paint your picture and different people will interpret the data differently.
-
yeah have to agree with Logan - there isn't 1 metric to analyse - its a combination of factors.
Google have publicly stated that there are over 200 ranking signals, so even if you 'win' in one metric you could be losing out on all the rest.
Sorry there isn't a one metric to determine your SEO score vs your competitors.

There are about as many answers to this question as there are SEO practitioners.
All things equal on-page, the tie breaker could come down to:
- Links
- Mobile-friendliness
- Trustworthiness of the site
- Expertise demonstrated by the content
- Overall authority of the site
- HTTP vs. HTTPS
- Usability of the site
These are a few examples, but it demonstrates the point that there are a lot of factors that are considered by Google when determining position.

Price for SEO Audit & Strategy
Hello, I am a part-time SEO and own a few web properties, in addition to owning other small businesses. I do the best I can in my spare time to grow my site's traffic and try to create decently valuable content. However, I feel like I am not getting the best results possible, so I am wondering if anyone on here would be interested in helping me with a site audit and strategy. I can do the grunt work myself, I just want someone with a fresh perspective to weigh in and guide me on what I should focus on to achieve my goals. Please let me know if you're interested and how much it may cost. A range is fine. Here are the specs on my site & niche: About 20 pages of content, most of which have 96-100 page optimization scores on Moz. DA of 19, home PA 32 Most competitive KW is 22 difficulty, 83 opp and 67 potential. Thanks so much, any insight is much appreciated. Please respond here or DM me directly. Best, Ricardo

What To Focus On SEO / Link Building for this campaign to rank again..
Hi All; I recently joined Moz and I am really starting to learn a lot here. I am still finding it difficult to figure out what to focus on the most to improve my rankings (although I do have some page 1 ranks) I have one strong competitor who has a SOLID spot in the top 5 of google for the past few years for the keyword I would like to be ranked for again. (as they have always been a competitor of mine either 1 spot above or 1 spot below). then i fell off google in January and finally made it back to page 1. But their links are thousands higher than mine. What parts of my SEO Link Building should I focus on the MOST to improve my ranking to move up a few spots? Followed links vs No Followed Links Followed Linking Root Domains vs NoFollowed Linking Root Domain Any help would so greatly be appreciated; also please explain why you would focus on that part of my campaign so I can better understand as well. Thanks again

I must be tripping. How is this site ranking for the term "SEO Company"??????
When I go to Google non-custom search results and search the term: seo company The website "greencowseo.com" is ranked 3rd. OpenSiteSearch shows nothing. And get this... the domain was registered 14 days ago by somebody in Egypt. Do I need to quit my SEO Moz membership and hire this guy? 🙂

Excel workbook for SEO?
A while back someone on here posted a really good workbook for analyzing ranking factors for competitors. Unfortunately I lost it, and I am hoping someone might know what i'm talking about and hit me up with a link to it, or perhaps your favourite seo workbook for excel? Thanks!

Free SEO tools appearing in SERPS for a site
Hi there, I've just taken over a site and it doesn't have a huge amount of shelfspace on the SERPs for it's brand name. Looking at the results that are there are a lot of free SEO tools that are coming up. They haven't had an SEO before so it's not coming from their side. There's such a lot of them I was wondering if anyone had come across this before - is it simply a competitor looking at the seo, could it be one of the seo analytics packages using free sites or is there anything else to be aware of. I can start knocking the sites down the SERPs but just wondering if anyone has a good solution for this. thanks Shiv

Starting SEO
Hi everyone, I am new to SEO basically learning as I go and trying to catch up on all of the information needed to successfully move a website up the search engine ranks. The website I am trying to optimize is www.luxurylifestylevacationhomes.com/. Right now I have determined which keywords I want to use, I have saturated them into the website in an organic way and have submitted the sites to various engines, also I have created a Facebook fan page which has 606 active monthly users in it's first month ( I don't know if that's a great number), as well as started writing a blog where I am putting links to the page in each relevant blog. My question has 3 parts 1. what else should I be doing to improve my ranking? 2. how do I find quality relevant websites that want to link exchange? 3. What is the best way to really get volume/ quality links to a relatively unknown site?Any advice or Ideas help and are very appreciated. Thanks
