Branded keyword results meta description is different then long tail branded search term in SERP
-
Search "Venturize", the first result is Venturize with the
description "Get help on finding the right loan for your small business
and learn what to look for when comparing your options."However, if you Google "Venturize opportunity finance network", the
first result is Venturize with the description "Playing:360p@30. Embed
size: CDN:fastly. Open link. Twitter · Facebook · About Venturize ·
Contact · About OFN · Mission-Driven Lenders: Locator Map."Why is Google not taking the meta description in the longer tail search?
I have checked:
- All of google's indexed pages for the website- A 3rd party crawl of the website- Multiple other keyword combinations Nothing produced the same result or indicated a reason why "Venturize opportunity finance network" has the incorrect meta description in the SERP.any ideas?
-
They are likely trying to help you out by getting OFN and Venturize into the meta description, as your default does not contain any of those terms. If you feel those terms are more heavily associated with your brand, you might consider updating your description to reference and see if that fixes the behavior.
Typically Google does this to help you out, and pulls from the content of the pages, and your footer is the only element referencing the OFN keywords.

Page grader says we are keyword stuffing but we arn't. Page source shows different story.
Hi community! We have just run a page grader for the keyword 'LED Bulbs' on whichledlight.com and it comes up that we are keyword stuffing! However, a brief look at the source for the homepage and there's only 6 times that LED Bulbs pops up. We do have the non plural version of the word 'LED Bulb' on the page 27 times.. do we think that would contribute to the keyword stuffing? Thanks!!

Is it OK to include name of your town to the title tag or H1 tag on a blog to enhance local search results
I recently attended a webinar by ETNA Interactive on local search SEO. The presenter recommended including the name of your town in the title of the blog to increase local search SEO. Is this OK? Ive always been concerned that it is such an obvious attempt to rank locally that Google would consider it "spammy" ? black hat, "sketchy" or otherwise manipulative. Have the rules changed? Is it OK to do? Brooke

Meta keywords and meta news keywords
I've got a question regarding this. So normally Meta keywords it is not relevant and we shouldn't use them, however there are opinions that we can use them as these are signals for other Search Engines. Meta news keywords - are ok to be used in the news sites. what is your opinion on using both of them on a news site? Can this help, or harm? thanks, Irina

Keyword stuffing - is it true?
Hi, I use On-Page Report Card for this url (the web is in Bulgarian) : http://cholakovit.com My keyword is in Bulgarian - "уеб дизайн" (which means "web design". It shows me that my keywords is: " Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 5875 "I cannot find so many instances of this keyword. Only 13 uses for "уеб" and 10 for "дизайн" in the whole page code. Is there an error in the report? When I search the English version -http://cholakovit.com/enwhich is almost the same but translated in English of the page for the key phrase "web design" it shows only "Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 8"

Why is SEOMoz telling me that meta descriptions are missing?
We have descriptions using an Ektron CMS on a .NET platform. IT is wondering if using "meta ID" vs "meta name" is the issue? Here is an example of the HTML code: <meta http-equiv="<a class="attribute-value">Content-Language</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Language</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">en</a>" /> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaKeywords</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Keywords</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">hunting, fishing, outdoor, sportshooting, rodeo, off-road, hunt, fish, outdoors, community, shotgun, rifle, bass, trout, sportfishing, tarpon, ATV, television</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaDesc</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Description</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">Deep-cranking technique lands Starks his second Elite Series victory.</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaSubject</a>" content="" name="<a class="attribute-value">subject</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaRating</a>" content="" name="<a class="attribute-value">rating</a>">meta>

Changing the page a term ranks for
Hi all, I hope you can help advise me of the best way to change the page that is ranking for a particular keyword/term. Is it just a case of on-page optimizing the term/keyword on the new-page and getting good links/traffic to that page and leaving the old one as it is, or is some sort of "de-optimization" of the old page a something that could help? Thanks.

Wordpress Shortcodes Showing in SERPs
We use some Wordpress shortcodes in our theme and they aren't in the meta description at all. For certain queries, the shortcodes show on the SERPs when Google chooses the description for us -- is there any way to clean this up or prevent it? It's annoying because it includes the entire shortcode, not the markup that gets generated as a result of the shortcode...
