Help me to understand why this page doesn't rank
-
Hello everyone.
I am trying to understand why most of my website category pages don't show up in the in the first 50 organic results on Google, despite my high website DA and high PA of those pages. We used to rank high a few years ago, not clear why most of those pages have almost completely disappeared.
So, just to take one as an example, please, help me to understand why this page doesn't shows up in the first 50 organic search results for the keyword "cello sheet music":
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/downloads/Indici/Cello.html
I really can't explain why, unless we are under some sort of "penalization" or similar (a curse?!)... I have analyzed any possible metric, and can't find a logical explanation.
Looking forward for your thoughts guys!
All the best,
Fab.

That's just the result of my frustration for not having more than a single answer after so many days of opening this thread. I have not offended or dissed anybody specific with that. My intent was just a wake-up call to anyone could bump into this thread.
So, EGOL, please, let's stop here, ok? I am really interested to know if someone else can give me constructive feedback and advice.
Thank you fr your cooperation.

Well, I am very disappointed that with all the "experts" we have on these forums, nobody is bothering to answer my question above or even just to give a hint. I guess it is too hard to give an answer. If so, I can consider myself an expert too then!
Has SEO lost any hope of rationalizing problems?
From this very thread. I can get ten more.

I am sorry, but I really think you are confusing me with someone else, I don't think to have been rude to anyone, ever. It's not in my nature. Yours is a strong accusation, so, please, show me where I have been rude on these forums. I am curious.
I'd really like to get back to the topic and stop this non-sense as soon as possible.

I am not confusing you with anyone else.
Why are you deleting posts?
-
Fabrizo,
I am a member of Moz, not a staff member. So my comments are my own and are not approved by Moz.
I don't think that my comments in this thread were rude or offensive. I am only telling you what you need to know.
If anyone reads a few dozen of your posts they will easily see that you are often rude to the people who try to help you. People stop providing free assistance when the person asking for help isn't nice.
-
Ok, good. Please, tell me where you found issues that I could have fixed with the advice I received on these forums in the past. I can't really find any and that's why I posted this question in the first place.
I don't think though that a comment like yours should be allowed on these forums, mostly from the MOZ staff. In my opinion, that was rude and pretty offensive.
-
I've looked at your website for a few hours. And, given you enough suggestions that I feel justified in making those statements.
-
I am so sorry to read this, but you have no idea how seriously I have taken any advice I got from people here and anywhere else. I have spent the past 6 years working dozens of hours every day to apply what suggested and to figure this out Panda related problems, and not sleeping at night because of this. How dare you saying that??!! On what basis? Have you looked at my website to understand the work I have put into it to avoid any Panda related issues? I guess not otherwise you wouldn't have posted such a non-sense post. I have applied all and everyone of the tips and advised fixings I got from the "experts", but none of them worked apparently (if I am really still under a Panda penalty, which I strongly doubt at this point).
You may also want to checkout this other thread where I am specifically discussing Panda:
https://moz.com/community/q/panda-rankings-and-other-non-sense-issues
Please, look at the code on my website pages and tell me WHERE you find evidence that I deserve to be nuked by Panda and such because of my "laziness", then I'll keep discussing with you.
PS: Where have I ever "dissed" advice given by people on this forum? Please, tell me, I am curious. I don't think to have ever disrespected people's advice the way you have just disrespected my question herein. I am very disappointed by MOZ if you are really the "Content Director" on these forums.

Any more ideas? Am I under any Google penalty of some sort (Panda, or what else?)
-
Thanks for your reply, but I don't think that'll make any difference. I tried any kind of different title for the past year, and didn't make any difference. Also, have a look at all the sites before us and you'll see they have even longer titles and URLs without keywords inside exactly like us.
So... what else?
-
Your page title is 71 characters long. Try erase word “instantly”. You will get title 62 characters long.
In the page's URL no keywords are used.
Optimize images.

Local SEO - ranking the same page for multiple locations
Hi everyone, I am aware that issue of local SEO has been approached numerous times, but the situation that I'm dealing with is slightly different, so I'd love to receive your expert advice. I'm running the website of a property management company which services multiple locations (www.homevault.com). From our local offices in the city center, we also service neighboring towns and communities ( ex: we have an office in Charlotte NC, from which we service Charlotte plus a dozen other towns nearby). We wanted to avoid creating dozens of extra local service pages, particularly since our offers are identical per metropolitan area and we're talking of 20-30 additional local pages for each area. Instead, we decided to create local service pages only for the main locations. Needless to say, we're now ranking for the main locations, but we're missing on all searches for property management in neighboring towns (we're doing good on searches such as 'charlotte property management', but we're practically invisible for 'davidson property management', although we're searvicing that area as well). What we've done so far to try and fix the situation: 1. The current location pages do include descriptions of areas that we serve. 2. We've included 1-2 keywords for the sattelite locations in the main location pages, but we're nowhere near the optimization needed to rank for local searches in neighboring towns (ie, some main local service pages rank on pages 2-4 for sattelite towns, so not good enough). 3. We've included the searviced areas in our local GMBs, directories, social media profiles etc. None of these solutions appear to work great. Should I go ahead and create the classic local pages for each and every town and optimize them on those particular keywords, even if the offer is practically the same, and the number of pages risks going out of control? Any other better ideas? Many thanks in advance!

EComm Sites that Don't Display Pricing
I've got a client that only shows pricing if a user is logged in - they're B2B and only sell at a wholesale level. The site is massive, has been around for about a decade, and has had an active SEO campaign for years. They've been losing ground on top ranked keywords, primarily in the 1-2 spots, rest of the first page remains strong and actually improves regularly. My hunch is that Google recognizes the inability for anyone to make a purchase on the site. As a result, they're realizing that the searcher intent doesn't match the actions that can be taken on the site and are bumping them down. Has anyone seen a similar situation or have any evidence to suggest my hunch is correct?

Unexplained Drop In Ranking and Traffic-HELP!
I operate a real estate web site in New York City (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com). It was hit by Penguin in April 2012, with search volume falling from 6,800 per month in March 2012 to 3,300 by June 2012. After refreshing content and changing the theme, volume recovered to 4,300 per month in October 2013. There was a big improvement in early October 2013, perhaps tied to a Panda update. In November 2013 I hired an SEO company. They are reputable; on MOZ's recommended list. After following all their suggestions (searching and removing duplicate content, disavowing toxic links, improving the site structure to make it easier for Google to index listings, re-writing ten key landing pages, improving the design of the user interface) ranking and traffic started to decline in April of 2014 and crashed in June 2014 after an upgraded design with improved user interface was launched. Search volume is went from 4700 in March to around 3800 in June. However ranking on the keywords that generate conversions has really declined, and clicks from those terms are down at least 65%. My online business is severely compromised after I have spent almost double the anticipated budget to improve ranking and conversion. A few questions: 1. Could a drop in the number of domains lining to our site have led to this decline? About 30 domains that had toxic links to us agreed to remove them. We had another 70 domains disavowed in late April. We only have 78 domains pointing to our domain now, far less than before (see attached AHREFs image). It seems there is a correlation in the timeline between the number of domains pointing to us and ranking performance. The number of domains pointing to us has never been this low. Could this be causing the drop? My SEO firm believes that the quality of these links are very low and the fact that many are gone is in fact a plus. 2. The number of indexed pages has jumped to 851 from 675 in early June (see attached image from Google Webmaster tools), right after a site upgrade. The number of pages in the site map is around 650. Could the indexation of the extra 175 page somehow have diluted the quality of the site in Google's eyes? We have filed removal request for these pages in Mid June and again last week with Google but they still appear. In 2013 we also launched an upgrade and Google indexed an extra 500 pages (canonical tags were not set up correctly) and search volume and ranking collapsed. Oddly enough when the number of pages indexed by Google fell, ranking improved. I wonder if something similar has occurred. 3. May 2014 Panda update. Many of our URLs are product URLs of listings. They have less than 100 words. Could Google suddenly be penalizing us for that? It is very difficult to write descriptions of hundreds of words for products that change quickly. I would think the Google takes this into account. If someone could present some insight into this issue I would be very, very grateful. I have spent over $25,000 on SEO reports, wireframe design and coding and now find myself in a worse position than when I started. My SEO provider is now requesting that I purchase even more reports for several thousand dollars and I can't afford it, nor can I justify it after such poor results. I wish they would take it upon themselves to identify what went wrong. In any case, if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I am very suspicious that this drop started in earnest at the time of link removal and the disavow and accelerated at the time of the launch of the upgrade. Thanks, Alan XjSCiIdAwWgU2ps e5DerSo tYqemUO

Why Is This Page Not Ranking?
Hi Mozzers, I can't rank (the page is nowhere on the Google grid that I can find) and I've not been able to move the needle at all on it. The page is http://www.lumber2.com/Western-Saddle-Pads-s/98.htm for keyword "western saddle pads." I'm inclined to think I'm cannabalizing the category with the products so I removed the word saddle from the majority of the product names on page. However, saddle pad or saddle pads is in the meta title for most if not all of the products. Do you think I'm cannabalizing with the product titles or is there something else going on? Thanks for any help.

Help! Optimizing dynamic internal search results pages...
Hi guys, Now I have always been against this, and opted to noindex internal search results pages to stop the waste of link juice, dupe content, and crawl loops... however, I'm in a discussion with somebody who feels there may be a solution, and that the pages could actually be optimized to rank (for different keywords to the landing pages of course). Anybody come across such a thing before? My only solution would be still to noindex and then build static pages with the most popular search results in but that won't suffice in this case. Any recommendations would be much appreciated 🙂 Thanks, Steve 🙂

Are links to on-page content crawled / have any effect on page rank?
Lets say I have a really long article that begins with links to <a name="something">anchors on the same page.</a> <a name="something"></a> <a name="something">E.g.,</a> Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc, allowing the user to scroll down to different content. There are also other links on this page that link to other pages. A few questions: Googlebot arrives on the page. Does it crawl links that point to anchors on the same page? When link juice is divided among all the links on the page, do these links count and page rank is then lost? Thanks!
