How can I change my Google Business to be a non local business?
-
Hey guys,
Do you know how to change my Google business account to be a non local business? I want my Google Knowledge Graph to be clean and neat like this. Does it mean that this company doesn't claim the business? Will removing the address from the Google My Business solve it (which I don't know whether we can take down the address)?
Thanks

Hi Attic,
Kris is correct that you can alter the settings in your Google My Business dashboard so that Google won't display your physical address, but this will not change the type of knowledge panel you're receiving. It will still be a local knowledge panel.
Kris - thanks so much for the excellent advice to Attic about changing these settings. On the city centroid tip, this phenomenon has been largely replaced by the user-as-centroid phenom. You're right that the city centroid did appear to exert influence at one time, but these days, the location of the user tends to override any other centroid concept which was previously in effect.

Under business settings, click the My Business Dashboard -> Info -> icon Button next to the address. Click the yes button that says "I deliver goods and services to my customers at their location"
From there, click on the service area radius and uncheck the box that says "i also serve customers at my business address. Your address will be hidden from the public if this box isnt checked.
*Tip-- The closer your address is the the city centroid, the better your search results...hidden or visible.

Hi Miriam,
thanks for your response. Yes, I do have a physical location. However, the nature of my business doesn't need me to meet face-to-face with clients. My location is not an advantage for my business. The environment is sketchy and I am in an old office building. I am afraid it will impact the client's perception. Since I already have a Google Business with this location verified, can I remove the exact address and replace it with just the name of the city?
Cheers!

Hi Attic,
I believe what you're saying is that your business is currently listed in Google My Business as a local business and is therefore being given a local knowledge panel when people search for your business by brand name. But, you wish you were simply being given a brand knowledge panel instead of a local one. Is that right?
If I've understood correctly, then, no, you do not get to choose which type of knowledge panel Google displays for you. If your business model is local, Google will display the local knowledge panel. Does your business have a physical address and does it meet face-to-face with clients?

Google Places Competitor Category Ranks (Should we copy them?)
Competitors use "Interior designer" as primary category in Google My Business, they rank well in Google Places, across the phrases we target. Currently we use the same category, but "Office refurbishment service" would seem to be more relevant to us. Should we move to "Office refurbishment service" as the Primary category in Google My Business? If we do move would we need to change our citations? And for other keywords should we be influenced and copy the categories used by our competitors?

How does Google Local Insights report impressions for multiple mappack listings (same company) showing up for one query?
I had a client ask me a difficult question about impression reporting via Google Local Insights. Lets say a client is a popular ice cream chain and somebody does a local brand search for "San Francisco Exotic Tasty Ice" and three locations for the same company all show up in the Google Local Pack. Does each one of these locations receive their own impression via Google Local Insights? Or does Google just count this as one impression for one location altogether? Logically speaking I would think that each location would get its own impression in the insights report. However I'm wondering if there is anything to negate that. Any feedback is appreciated.

Google + / Local for Business. How to SEO ?... Done the basic but no real change.
Hi All, We have set up all of our Google local for business pages which are verified and these link to the relevant branch pages on our website. The branch pages also link back to the relevant google local page. We only appear for one category on the google local pages and we have also done a large number of citations (NAP) across all locations and the text used in each of the google pages is keyword rich and we mention the city in there as well to localise it. We have a few google + likes and we have used hootsuite to publish the same content across some of the google local pages which links back to our website blog , we are not appearing in local search whereas our competitors seem to be appear for all their branches. Is there any fundamental tips or things we need to do to def. get up on the rankings.. Or any good articles worth reading ?.. I've had a look but can't seem to see anything relating a google local business bible.. thanks Pete

Google Local: When moving locations, is a new website/content needed?
I've effectively moved companies before, but I've heard that ranking locally in a competitive market after an address move it is necessary to redesign the entire website/content/domain as Google associates the old website/content/domain with the old location. Is this true? Does anyone have any direct experience with this? NOTE- I have updated citations across the internet and have regular social signals going to the new location, and this has been the case for almost 6 months now.

What is the process to add multiple locations to our Google My Business Account?
We have a business that has expanded into multiple cities across Canada. What is the process to add these to our Google My Business account. Our existing locations business pages were set up by a previous SEO agency and now we are handling this in-house. I've tried to search step by step guides but was unable to find any solutions.

Business from UK Showing up in Canada local search, how can I report it?
Hello Everyone, So we have a problem. There is another business with the same name as ours showing up on Google Local/ Google maps when I type in our business name in Google. Our name is Brighton College, and the other business is Brighton College, however they are from the UK. They are showing up on the right hand side with their wikipedia page and on Google Maps and we aren't, but I'm searching in Canada on Google.ca across the street from our college. Any idea on how to fix this? Thank you!

Google automatically generating and verifying duplicate business pages?
Was on the phone with Google Support about duplicate, verified pages showing up and they said they're doing a "cleanse" in which an automated system is reviewing existing listings and making decisions as to how those look, which often results in a new page that Google then automatically verifies. Their Support phone system has been bogged down with people calling in, but I'm not seeing anything when I search about this issue. Is anyone else experiencing this?
