Why would a competitor brand appear in our meta? - (i've never seen this before)

Why would competitor sweetwater appear in americanmusical.com meta?
For example, Google: site:americanmusical.com ext:pdf rebate
You will see this result:
PDF]Nord Stage 2 EX $500 Rebate Form - Sweetwater
<cite class="_Rm">https://www.americanmusical.com/ItemFiles/Rebate/NordStage2EX_05312017.pdf</cite>Your page is not mobile-friendly.May 31, 2017 - REBATE DETAILS: To receive your $500 rebate, send your completed form with a copy of your invoice or receipt and UPC codes to either the.

I can't replicate this in live SERPs, but Matthew's explanation seems to match the evidence. It does appear that Google is doing some kind of implicit canonicalization. It's rare, but it does happen.
You could try giving the PDF a unique title in its own meta information (the document doesn't seem to have any). It's more likely to look like a duplicate if that's undefined.
The next step would be to recreate the PDF slightly and make it unique, but honestly, each step is going to get to be progressively more work. It really depends whether this is just an anomaly or it's causing you actual issues as a business.

Hello,
I would say this is a duplicate content issue.
Identical versions of the PDF are found on both the sweetwater.com domain and also americanmusical.com:
https://media.sweetwater.com/store/pdf/Nord_cashback_20170531.pdf
https://www.americanmusical.com/ItemFiles/Rebate/NordStage2EX_05312017.pdfIf you perform an "info:" search on your URL you will notice that Google returns the document from sweetwater.com:
info:https://www.americanmusical.com/ItemFiles/Rebate/NordStage2EX_05312017.pdf

Hmm.... This is wacky.
It looks like although it says "Sweetwater" in the Title Tag, the pdf file is still being hosted on your URL (as well as the actual rebate form having American Music listed as the return address).
Maybe perhaps whoever added this rebate form to your website "borrowed" it from Sweetwater? And by that I mean, copied over the pdf file, changed the address, and copied everything else (Title Tag included), but forgot to take off the Sweetwater brand name?
Either way, it's on your own URL and it's a rebate form that includes your own address. Just get into your site editor and change the title tag and you should be fine.

Use of '&' in meta title
Hi, I know that use of '&' would be helpful to save space and also add more keyword variation to the title tag. But just want to make sure if it matters if I use '&' in most of my title tags? And also is it common to use more than & in one title? Would the following title be different in Google's perspective regardless of the title length? I am thinking they are all targeting the keywords 'fruit cake' and 'fruit bread', but the first one is the best. buy fruit cake & bread buy fruit cake & fruit bread buy fruit cake and fruit bread Thanks in advance.

Is Google indexing something I can't see on my page title?
When I do a search for my businesses website (colourpages.com) it returns a listing which is great but the title tag includes Hull Colour Pages which is our old brand name - we changed to colourpages.com 2 years ago yet Hull Colour Pages is still pulling through on the title tag. I have checked the source and it's as follows: <title>Plumbers in Hull - Reviews - colourpages.com</title> I have attached a photo which shows the issue - http://imgur.com/Cva3001 Is Google indexing it from old history that is no longer visible or am I missing something? Meta keywords and meta news keywords
I've got a question regarding this. So normally Meta keywords it is not relevant and we shouldn't use them, however there are opinions that we can use them as these are signals for other Search Engines. Meta news keywords - are ok to be used in the news sites. what is your opinion on using both of them on a news site? Can this help, or harm? thanks, Irina

I am getting a page nt accessible to search engines error and I believe the reason is that the meta refresh is using a java script reference in the url. meta-refresh: 0;URL=http://mastermindtoys.com/store/nojavascript.html is it possible to tell the robot to use the java script or turn it off or something? or should the meta refresh be changed?
