Google showing 3 different results for homepage
-
Hello All! First post in this community. I hope someone can help with an issue I'm having with my website, 3vdental.com.
1. When I Google my brand name, 3V Dental Associates, I see one result on the front page. This result shows ONLY my brand name as the title tag...
See here: https://www.screencast.com/t/Vwq4l2Lrn
2. When I Google my domain name, 3vdental.com, I see a second result, that still only shows my brand name as the title tag, but with sitelinks showing in the results...
See here: https://www.screencast.com/t/L37hxZ8rd1xp
3. Both results above are not ideal, as they are not displaying the correct title and meta tags set within the Yoast SEO plugin.
Here's a front-end view of the site displaying the correct title and meta tags..
See here: https://www.screencast.com/t/CZS3CBja4m
Is there any way to correct this so that Google displays my preferred tags when my website is displayed?
Thanks for your help in advance!

It's behaving exactly the way I'd expect and since it shows up in search, it's clearly indexed. When I search for "dentist, port washington" your listing is the fourth regular organic result, with your preferred title and description. So, good job!

Thanks again.
I just want to make sure there isn't a technical issue that might be preventing ranking or indexing.

That is apparently what Google thinks is the most useful result to return. The searcher knows the URL of the company, but maybe wants to know the name associated with it.
It's hard to tell sometimes exactly why Google does what it does. (Which is what keeps SEOs employed.)

Hi Linda,
Thank you for your response.
But why is that when you Google "3vdental.com" the brand (3V Dental Associates) is still displayed as the title?
-
The title and meta tags that you yourself post are only suggestions to Google—what is actually shown in the search results will depend on what query the searcher used to get your listing. Google tries to make the results as useful for the searcher as possible. (Try for example "3V Dental Associates, hours" and you will see the hours in the description.) Here is a Yoast post that talks about this (scroll down a bit).

Improving Local Pack results across other services
A company I work for ranks well in the Local Pack under its primary service offering i.e. "primary service Bristol". And also under some other services it offers. However, under other services that are offered, it doesn't show in the local pack despite ranking No 1 in the natural SERPS for the target phrase "example service Bristol". We have pages covering all main services in the main site navigation bar. Is this just the way it is or can something be done to resolve this? Does the detail in the third-party citations have a significant impact? What about the content of the reviews? I note that we are doing better under the services mentioned within the reviews. Should I add additional categories and emulating those used by the competition under the search terms? Or am I missing something else?

What about a No-record backlink in the eye of Google
I have an uncertainty - when I make a backlink as a piece of SEO in some site when I reviewed similar couple of days after. It hasn't filed and I checked its robots record. It appearing Client specialist: Mediapartners-Google Disallow: User-Agent: * Disallow: However, is this make any backlink uphold or only this with the end goal of not ordering in google. I make it straightforward - "Is this sort of backlink creation my site kitchen meg uphold my SEO action or Not?" In this No-record site.

Different variations of my site (www ; non www ; https ; http) have different authority status
In Open Site Explorer I can see that the www and non www versions of my site gets treated differently with one group of links pointing to each version of the same page. This gives a different PA score. eg. http://mydomain.com DA 38 PA 37 http://www.mydomain.com DA 28 PA 27. Currently our preferred variation is https://www.mydomain.com but it used o be http://mydomain.com for 3+ years and I can see that the non www version of my domain have more authority. Would you advise us to "change back" to setting our preferred url as the non www version as before or would it have a negative impact on our SERP ranking etc if we change it again now?

Best Practices: Different Phone Numbers on the Same Website
Since 2006 www.nyc-officespace-leader.com has promoted my commercial real estate brokerage business. I have been the sole broker listed on the site. As a result, the same phone number has appeared consistently throughout the site. Now I will be adding a colleague to the site (in addition to me) and I am struggling with how to best display my colleague's phone number. The 2nd broker will be adding property listings and blog posts. It was agreed that my phone number would be replaced by my colleagues phone number on his listings and blog posts. Pages that existed before would remain with my phone number. The idea being that leads generated by the 2nd broker's new content get directed to him rather than me. My concern is that having a new phone number listed will introduce an inconsistent phone number and harm our local SEO. I have read that it is absolutely critical that NAP (name, address, phone number) must be 100% consistent otherwise it can cause harm search engine ranking. What are best practices for displaying different phone numbers for different personnel on the same website without harming local SEO efforts? This situation is certainly common, so I would think there must be some work arounds. I have seen "Contact" icons that when clicked show phone numbers. Is there any standard solution for this issue that keeps NAP data consistent? Also, what if we keep the same number in the header but use different numbers in other locations? Is the header a location where we should be extra careful to display the same phone number? Thanks,

Issues With Search Results
Hello All, I am currently having issues with the following website: http://universityforddurham.com/None of the vehicles the site has in inventory are not showing up organically.Example:2016 Ford Fusion in Durham, NChttps://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=2016+Ford+Fusion+Durham%2C+NCThe results page pulls University Ford North, which is another dealership we work with and has no issues showing up organically. Both of these websites were built around the same time, but the Durham store receives more traffic. If I perform a Google Search for VIN numbers, such as 3FA6P0SU0GR121259 the first page of search results are for the vehicle by all the dealerships in the Auto Group, except for the dealership that actually has the vehicle.I am wondering if the vehicles are not being indexed by Google. When I perform similar searches in Bing, the proper results are populating.Any suggestions or help would be great.Thank you!

Google My Business
I have a question about Google my Business. Currently I have a business that's been verified. I would like to add another business with the same address. The businesses are different (name, website, phone number) but the primary address is the same. Is this something that can be done? Thanks for your help.

SEO for a homepage... What do you put? Focus on the brand or products?
Hi to all. Ok so I am curious how to format and seo a website homepage? This question is more in the way of dedicated towards how to rank locally if you have multiple services? See I have a construction website and we have many services. So do you try and format the homepage to promote the brand, or do you go after the services? Like would you say hey we are this company we serve here and here, and basically make it an about us page? or do you say hey this is who we are, but say we do this, that, and the other? I am afraid that although I have a webpage for each service, if the main url gets the link juice right now, how should a homepage be? Thank you for any tips or suggestions. Chris

Staying on top of Google - Edmonton Web
Hello Moz folks, About 2 months ago we launched a brand new site - edmontonweb.ca I have gotten some amazing advice from the folks here at Moz, and amazingly enough, we are now ranking in the top 2 in our city for keywords like "Edmonton web design." We are very excited, but the question now, is how do we stay on top? We are updating our blog on a weekly basis, we are continuing to build inbound links, but how can we do more? I have considered summarizing blog posts in "guest blogs," and linking back to our blog post (so not all the inbound links are directing at the home page). I have considered a more active presence through press releases. Could these strategies be effective? Do you have any other suggestions on strategies we could utilize to stay on top?
