What should my key words be for home page?
-
Hey Everyone,
I'm curious if anyone can provide some insight as to what my keywords should be for my website. Just as a quick heads up, my company, Back In Motion Sport & Spine Physical Therapy, is a physical therapy clinic that specializes in orthopedic, sport, and spine injuries. You can find my site here: www.backinmotionsspt.com
That said, I understand about doing key word research and integrating that on the site. However, since I am a smaller practice should the end of the my key word entail my city of Fort Myers, FL. For instance, should my key words be the following:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy Fort Myers, FL
-
Sport Rehabilitation Fort Myers, FL
-
Back Pain Relief Fort Myers, FL
Or....
Should they just be:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy
-
Sport rehabilitaiton
-
Back pain relief
I look forward to hearing any and all feedback.

Hello there,
I have a bit more different opinion than others I would choose to include the city as part of your keyword, the reason is simple, do a Google search with and without city from the keyword, which one do you think it's more relevant?
Don't forget your longer tail keyword (/w city name) also included your general keyword as well (/wo city name), so there's basically no harm I can think of to include your city name.
But of course, make sure you also use the properly structured data as well.
Some would also suggest that your homepage shouldn't be optimized for keywords, but I don't think there's one-rule-for-all in SEO, especially if you aren't a big brand and just starting out in SEO, your homepage is generally your most linked page with the highest ranking chance. So I would not waste the opportunity to rank keywords with my homepage.

I assume you're talking about the homepage here.
Generally you should focus the homepage for branded queries, you will find the majority of traffic to your homepage will be branded search terms.
I would then create pages for your key terms...

Orthopedic physical therapy Fort Myers, FL
-
Sport Rehabilitation Fort Myers, FL
-
Back Pain Relief Fort Myers, FL

I think your target keyword should be "Physical Therapy" You should automatically come up for the cities within your geographical location so long as you are in google and the other crucial directories consistently and accurately. Don't listen to the non believers, the Schema Markup can really drive it home as well! You can generate the Schema JSON in Google Structured Markup Helper Tool. Your Chamber of Commerce backlink along with all the DoFollows from core social platforms, the juice will add up if you optimize the profiles well in addition to ranking them and staying active. Now for these low diff takedowns:
-
Orthopedic physical therapy
-
Sport rehabilitaiton
-
Back pain relief
Make Youtube videos, providing authoritative advice, make Infographics to distribute on all the picture share platforms. Embed them both on your 2000 word blog and amazingly helpful advice plus insight on "how to see if your bla bla insurance covers this". If they end up doing their research on your site, and get the process and layout from your site, good chance they'll end up seeking the therapy from you!

Hi Scott!
Good question! When you operate a local business, it's extremely important to incorporate your city name in your optimization of your text and in many of your tags, too. Don't go overboard, of course. Be sure you're writing in natural language. But, definitely do include your city name where you can, particularly in the title tag of your home page and contact page, and then wherever else it seems relevant. This will help both your potential clients and Google understand the locale of your business.
Hope this helps, and please do follow up with any further questions you may have!

Improving SEO for an e-commerce page with 1 product page
I'm trying to improve the SEO for an e-commerce store that I'm working for that sells custom car air fresheners where you select the shape of the item and then upload the photo. The site has been around for almost 10 years so has authority in the field and ranks number one for custom car air fresheners and other related high-traffic keywords. However, there is no blog, no social media and has 8 total pages: landing page, FAQ, contact, guidelines, shape/product (page that starts the ordering process with little text), scents, terms, and samples.

I'm struggling with how we rank higher for specific keywords that we are not number 1 with ok traffic (such as dog air freshener, custom air freshener for car with picture, custom photo car air freshener) and not affect the current keywords that we are ranking number one for. In addition, how do we rank higher for other keywords, if we don't have that many pages like a blog to create content? I was thinking of creating a blog to target more keywords, but I don't think there is enough relevant content to make. And I feel Google would find a blog about "top gifts for dad" or "top gifts for the holidays" not relevant. I was also thinking of adding more text to the shapes/product page which could be tailored towards a keyword. Maybe I could create another product page that goes into more detail about the air freshener with images, descriptions, and other use cases. On MOZ, the Domain Authority is 18 (really low), so I am thinking about working on getting backlinks from relevant sources with authority to improve our SEO. Or do we not mess with the text on the website since it works and not worry about the other keywords and focus on technical SEO items and backlinks to help with SEO? TLDR: How do you improve SEO for new keywords for an e-commerce business that doesn't have a lot of pages for content without affecting its number 1 ranking on other keywords?0 -
Strategy for product content page development.
I have a project to work on product and landing pages for a website with 5000+ SKU's. I am looking to hire a content writer to do this but I want a strategy in place to develop these pages. I have googled a bit and they mostly talk about the body of the page. I am looking for best practices for the entire page, Title, H1, Meta and body. Any good tutorials for this type of project anyone can recommend? Anyone with experience doing this type of project? Thanks, Mark

Optimising page for branded search terms
Hi, new to keyword research and have a question on branded search terms. I'm optimising the product pages of a manufacturer's site and assume that the primary keyword for each product page (and therefore the H1 header) should be a detailed product name e.g.'Aqua Power wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner'. Is it good practise to add the manufacturer's name to the beginning of a product title? I can't determine this by looking at search volume or competition for the two versions of the keyphrase as they are too low to get stats in both cases. Previous SEOs have set up the product titles on my pages without including the brand name but this seems to me to be loosing out on the opportunity to rank for both '[brand name] [detailed product name]' and '[detailed product name]' with the one keyphrase. On the other hand, this site only sells products from one manufacturer so maybe it looks fussy to include the brand name on every product title. I would of course add the manufacturer name to the page title e.g.'Aqua Power wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner | cordless vacuum cleaner | [brand name]' so Google would be able to associate a brand with the product even if I didn't include it in my primary keyword. Thanks for any guidance on this!

Precise or longer title for service page?
i am a little confused as to how should i create my META TITLE and on page h1 title
Keyword Research | | sagive
for a service page... Say that page offers "web marketing" service... i know or think i know that precise title ranks higher
on the search results but its less appealing Meta title example:
web marketing | company name On page title:
Web marketing Now, the more compelling title would be of-course longer but less focused 1. Do you think i can test it without hurting my positions permanently?
i have query (i see the stats on Google webmaster tools) that
i get 20,000 views monthly but only 1% clicks... 2. how would you build a title for such a page (meta and onpage)? Would really appreciate your professional view Best regards, Sagive SEO.0 -

Page Authority & Domain Authority for dummies
Can someone explain me what is this? I just ran a keyword difficulty report for my keyword "refurbished printers", we are not in the top 10, and I see a table with 4 columns: page authority, Page Linking Root Domains, Domain Authority, Root Domain Linking Root Domains I have many questions here: 1. The bigger the number the better? 2. The most green the better? What about the red in the last 2 columns? 3, How can I improve an specific page to rank there and improve these numbers? 4. What does it mean the green check next to some numbers? Thanks
