Hi Swimby, has your question been resolved? You've received some great answers!

Irving's exactly right here. External ranking factors could well be responsible for how the page is doing.
HOWEVER! If your page is ranking an F for on-page optimization, it means you are probably wasting some of the power of those off-page factors. This may not be an issue at the moment, but remember - your competitors are continually working to improve their pages that are competing with yours. So you should be using everything in your arsenal to make your pages harder for the competition to beat.
Fixing your on-page may not improve your already top rank, but will almost certainly help you keep that top ranking longer in the face of increased competition.

Your URL may be successful because of external and internal link juice being passed to it. The F grade only takes into account page optimization.

This actually happens quite a bit and specifically for long-tails.

Can you provide the url and keyword you are referencing?

Can I put the company name in the image alt text instead of just the service type im trying to rank for?
Hello, if I am trying to rank for a service type and the exact phrase is in the companies name, can I put the company name in the image alt text instead of just the service type? Seizing the opportunity to get another mention of the businesses name...two birds with the one stone if you will... For example, "lawn cutting" being the service type but the company's name is Paul's lawn cutting. Could i put Pauls Lawn Cutting in the image alt text, or just stick to lawn cutting? Thanks in advance

It has been recommended that we remove the number of links in our footer, should we?
We have a pretty user friendly footer with almost an entire site-map on it. It's similar to many e-commerce company footers, and I think it's useful to the user. SEO professionals have recommended that to reduce the number of links on any given page on our site we should compress our footer and only show the headers, thus removing many links. This in my opinion is a disservice to the user and makes the site not look as good, but maybe it's a good idea for SEO to get rid of so many links per page? What do you think? Number of links in breadcrumb
Does google take the number of links in breadcrumb as a indicator to the depth of the page in the site structure? That will mean that a page with 5 links in the breadcrumb is a page very far away from the index, therefore a less important page.
