Question about reciprocal link building. I'm not an SEO professional, just a local service business owner.
-
I did a link page on my website 13 years ago and never took it down. Should we scratch that page all together? Is it ok with Google to do a page on Recommended local service providers. Maybe I can keep some of those reciprocal links if that's the case...

Hi Jeff,
I'd be surprised if it's hurting you in any way. However, it's good that you're thinking about it. Now could be a good time to modernize your approach to building relationships with (and links among) related businesses in your community. My latest post on the Moz blog is all about this, and you might find it a good read: https://moz.com/blog/2020-local-seo-success

I agree with Mazen.
If search engines didn't exist and you would still create a page that includes a list of recommended local service providers, then it is totally fine to leave that page up.

Hi Jeff,
I think you'll be fine with a local service providers' page, even if they link back to you within the same capacity. Google's aim is to root out spam and links that don't make sense. In this case, its perfectly fine. A good question to ask yourself when placing the link is "Does this link make sense to be here? Does it help the reader?" If it does, then go ahead.
The internet is full of examples of websites linking to each others' resources and guides.
Hope that clears it up!

Quickest way to build links?
I'm in furniture e-commerce. I'm not new to e-commerce but I am new to SEO as I used to just hire everything out. What is the quickest way to build or should I say earn links? So far I've just been contacting bloggers and I've built about 4 links through guest posts in the past month. The problem is I can't tell if this is good or bad. I also contacted a niche directory and they liked my content so they are going to include my website in their directory for free next week. Should I continue doing what I'm doing? Do I need to be more aggressive? Suggestions? Thanks guys.

Link Building
I'm having difficulty creating a solid link base. I would prefer to only have links that are on relevant sites that are likely to drive traffic rather then just adding my company page to site directories. I've checked out the whiteboard Friday edition of link building and have also used the new Moz analytics that helps recommend sites to link to, but all the recommendations were directories. So, could anyone hold my hand and guide me through the world of Link building? Your help, as always, is much appreciated. Thanks everyone Dave

Disavow links from questionable blog
Hi everyone, I noticed today that we are getting quite a few backlinks from a blog that promotes some rather seedy ideals (it's called zoklet). Specifically, they are linking to some products we sell that prevent shoplifting, so I'm drawing some conclusions about their motives. I don't think the blog itself is spammy, but I'm just assuming that it's a bad neighborhood and we should distance ourselves from it. The only reason I'm questioning the disavow is because of the warnings involved and that it might affect our rankings if we do it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Any value in link building to local pages on my site?
If I'm trying to rank for the term 'wedding band' with my url: http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/wedding-bands will linking to local pages such as: http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-acts/hire-wedding-bands/wedding-bands-london help the main page to rank? I added the 'local' pages to try and pick up any traffic from long tail search queries but my main focus is on getting the main page to rank as the traffic from long tail queries is so small. So is it worth me spending time building links to these local pages in order to try and help the main page rank?

Reciprocal Links from Automated Source
Just a quick question. We received an email from a website looking to exchange links with our blog. Their site seems relevant enough for our readers to benefit from the link being there, so everything seems fine from that point. They began the message with Dear ******blog, then continued with their message of wanting to exchange links. The email then signed off with promo@*****.com I was just wondering whether it's likely this was a manual email, or whether conducted via an automated service Cheers

Getting Many Links from Tumbler Question?
If I have 10 links coming from 10 Tumbler blogs.. Do they count as 10 linking domains or 1 linking domain coming from tumbler.com? Does the authority of links coming from tumbler decrease the more I get links from tumbler blogs? Thanks

Link Building Question
Hello, Here is my situation - i'm number 10 for a moderate keyword and i want to rank higher . Using the Open Site Explorer i studied the links of 12 competitors and noticed the following : There are only 2 sites that are doing 100% white hat - one of them is on first page only because has a big,big domain autority, the other because is a brand name. The rest of my competitors are on first page using directory submissions (i discovered 200+ directories - and not counting those that are not indexed.), buying links (for ex check these 2 :http://www.dentistsburbank.com/links , http://www.dentistinaustin.com/links/ - there are 50+ more sites like this), spam forums and article submissions. For my site i tried to get only quality links, tried link bait, quality articles - etc(and this for more that 18 months). Unfortunately it seems that my efforts are not enough(seems that links from military.com are not enough to beat 200 low quality directories) and i want to ask the community what should i do. Shall i invest in directory submissions (it will cost around $1500) ? If not in directories in what shall i invest the money ? Are there any companies able to create successful link baits ? Shall i report the paid links hoping that Google will take action ? Any other ideas 🙂

Link Building Training Courses (UK)
Hi, Does anybody know of any good UK Link Building training courses or trainers? I have read loads of information on here and other sites which tells you that you need to get good high quality links but have not found much information on exactly how you go about doing this (apart from looking at competitors links - which is easy). So I would love to get some training for me and another team member here on Link Building specifically. We have all the other areas of SEO pretty much covered and get pretty good rankings for long tail and some broad phrases. We just need a bit of extra Link Building help to boost some rankings up even further. Thanks in advance Andy
