How to keep rankings in Google Maps?
-
Hi,
I know how to get in top 3 listings for Google maps, i ranked my client #1 for
pretty competitive keyword that gets about 2000 local searches a month. My client was there for about 3 months or so, but now she doesn't even rank in top 10,
But shes number one after maps listings.
So my question is how do you keep that rankings once you ranked #1 for maps?
All my pages are highly optimized
My Google places page 100% competed and highly optimized
I use twitter every week to build citationsWhat im i missing?
Thanks

Hello Scott,
Just for for two terms, one is gone completely the other one is #11
i have same results when my browser set to a deferent city .
It shows up for a branded searches.
I checked some local directories and looks like i have duplicate listings, with deferent name
but everything else is the same. I dont know if thats effecting my rankings.
Thanks

Also, does their G+ Local listing shows up for branded searches or a company name search + city name?

Does the drop in ranking correlate with an algo update?
Did the site drop rankings for many terms or just that one term?
Are there different results for when you have your browser set to that city versus when it is set to a different city?
-
1. Yes it does have location in the search query
2. Yes i do have Google Map embedded on the Contact Us page
3. All directories with citations have same address and phone company name.
4.I do have same phone number in header and footer Im using micro data.
5.No its a beauty salon service
As you can see i have everything in place but yet i dropped in rankings.
Thank You

is the term you are hoping to rank for a city-specific phrase or does it not have a location in the search query?
Do you have the Google Map embedded on the Contact Us page? Are there other authoritive directories with citations of the exact same physical address / phone / company name?
Do you have the same phone / address in the footer of the site as well? Are you using micro data to markup the address ( http://schema.org/PostalAddress )
Is the company a "Service Area" category of business or do customers come to the company's office? If it is a service company, you might need to hide the street address to comply with Google's ToS?

Ranking well for keywords, but not in Google maps
If the search "criminal defense attorney" or any number of variants, is performed from a mobile device, like an iPhone, Google maps seems to be inserting many local map listings ahead of the normal search results in the Tallahassee, Florida area. These are great - as they have the Call button and the Directions button. However, for some reason, my clients aren't ranking well here and competitors who are seemingly doing nothing are higher in the list. I have created the Google+ page for attorney and business page for the firm and completed the profile, uploading pictures etc and verified the address. I have the local address (schema-proper, I believe) on the linking home page and their address is actually closer to downtown/midtown than others. I've even gotten some positive reviews and +1s, at least enough to be competitive in this field. This was about 2 months ago. Any advice? On a (perhaps) related note, the competition has category descriptions outside of the Google-allowed categories. I can't save settings without fitting neatly into their "Criminal Justice Attorney" category. Help here would also be appreciated.

Amazon Store Name Change - Impact on Google Shopping
For a site ranking on page 1 in Google Shopping Results for multiple products, they're thinking of changing their store name to rebrand themselves and their website. They currently have items appearing on page 1 from their stores on ebay, Amazon, buy.com, sears, etc. Does anybody know if changing their brand name on these stores will impact their results on Google Shopping? Thanks, Mark

Do I need incoming links to my mobile site, if I want to rank for mobile search?
Does a mobile site need backlinks to rank? Or are onsite factors the one and only here? And what are the most important "onsite" factors for mobile seo?

Will linking to my citation sources help google recognize them / credit my places account?
Or will those sources be discounted by google then similar to how google discounts link exchanges? I have noticed some pages, like mapquest, don't really have a directory, so google might not be aware of their content unless it is linked too??? In this type of a case, would it help to link to mapquest's search results? then the citation will get picked up by google? Example: http://www.mapquest.com/?hk=6-i30tP49i

Multi-site listings in Google Local/Place pages
I've had problems with a client that is a local medical center with multiple sites/addresses. We've created a Place Page for each location and linked it to the location page on the client's website that matches the address on the Place page. But that means we're not linking to the medical center's home page -- and Google Places doesn't like that. I know this because after we'd owner-verified each Place Page, Google went in and just changed the website link that was a deep link to a location page and replaced it with a link to the home page. But now there's not an address match. How should we handle this? Related question: Does it make sense to claim a separate listing in Yelp and other local directories for each of the separate locations since they each have a unique address? Will Yelp & other local directories allow for links to non-home pages on the client's website?
