@adam71299 Recently I brought a new website at online auction. I failed to check the spam score of that website and I got all screwed up. Now I have to track all the backlinks that are pointing to the spam websites and disvow them using GSC. Moral of the story, spam score matters big time.

@lorosing As a beginner, I same similar mistakes. Right from the onset I started making backlinks for my tracking website. After watching a youtube video I came to know about spam scores. I was shocked when I realize that my website had an abysmal spam score of 7. Hence, I started to remove the bad ones. I want to know if is there a way to remove all the bad links pointing toward my website at once.

I couldn't agree more. As a beginner, I started creating backlinks from the word go. After making tons of backlinks now I realize that my website has a spam score of 7 which isn't good. Therefore, now I have to manually remove them one by one. I wish I knew earlier that the quality of backlinks is preferred over quantity by Google.

@lorosing I agree with you, the spam score from my site was up at 5, after I employed a cheap SEO "EXPERT" to improve my ranking. I'm in the car insurance/accident business, so there's huge competition for ranking. These guys just use rubbish links from rubbish sites and the spam rating just went through the roof, and I wasn't ranking for any keywords related to car accidents at all.
Now though, after much pain and headache, I got all the dodgy links removed and disavowed. It took a few month before the spam rating fell after that, but it was worth it in the end. So if you've disavowed them then just wait and you should see your spam rating drop back. Otherwise, you may have to just change your domain name!

Page plumetting with a optimisation score of 97\. HELP
Hi everyone, One of my pages has an optimisation score of 93, but ranks in 50+ place. What on earth can I do to address this? It's a course page so I've added the 'course' schema. I've added all the alt tags to say the keyword, UX signals aren't bad. Keyword is in the title tag. It has a meta description. Added an extra 7 internal, anchor-rich links pointing at the page this week. Nothing seems to address it. Any ideas? Cheers, Rhys

Do Ghost Traffic/Spam Referrals factor into rankings, or do they just affect the CTR and Bounce Rate in Analytics?
So, by now I'm sure everyone that pays attention to their Analytics/GWT's (or Search Console, now) has seen spam referral traffic and ghost traffic showing up (Ilovevitaly.com, simple-share-buttons.com, semalt.com, etc). Here is my question(s)... Does this factor into rankings in anyway? We all know that click through rate and bounce rate (might) send signals to the algorithm and signal a low quality site, which could affect rankings. I guess what I'm asking is are they getting any of that data from Analytics? Since ghost referral traffic never actually visits my site, how could it affect the CTR our Bounce Rate that the algorithm is seeing? I'm hoping that it only affects my Bounce/CTR in Analytics and I can just filter that stuff out with filters in Analytics and it won't ever affect my rankings. But.... since we don't know where exactly the algorithm is pulling data on CTR and bounce rate, I guess I'm just worried that having a large amount of this spam/ghost traffic that I see in analytics could be causing harm to my rankings.... Sorry, long winded way of saying... Should I pay attention to this traffic? Should I care about it? Will it harm my site or my rankings at all? And finally... when is google going to shut these open back doors in Analytics so that Vitaly and his ilk are shut down forever?

Massive Google Search Spam
We have come to know that one of competitors of our client is spamming Google search results on massive scale. If we search with keywords like "iphone spy apps" , "text messages spy " etc then most of results from 3rd or 4th page onwards show totally irrelevant sites but when we click on those results/pages then all redirect to either http://topspysoft.com/ OR http://www.mspy.com/ . They have been doing it on massive scale for last few months against hundreds of queries and populating hundreds of search results. If use some country specific Google site then again hundreds of results come from totally irrelevant country specific domains (au,nz,uk etc) and they all redirect to topspysoft.com or mspy.com. Can you please tell how they are doing it and how they are able to do it on such a massive scale without getting noticed by Google ? Is there any way to report this issue to Google as the current only allows one link ? Following are some of the spam urls to give you an idea www.crcincva.com/doc/20-best-iphone-spy-apps/

Why Link Spamming Website Coming on First Page Google?
As we all already know about link spamming. As per Google Guidelines Link building, Exact Keywords Anchor Link Building is dead now but i am looking most of the website coming on first page in Google doing same exact keywords linking. I think directory, article, social bookmarking, press release and other link building activity is also dead now. Matt always saying content is more important but if we will not put any keywords link in content part then how website rank in first page in Google. Can anybody explain why is website coming on first page because when i am doing same activity for quality links with higher domain authority website then we are affected in Google update.

Corporate Spam - How do you deal with them?
Seeklearning.com.au - I don't see why they should be dominating the SERPs here in Australia, except for the fact that the have 1 million+ links from 4 or 5 corporate affiliates (Yahoo, MSN, etc). But i thought Google caps the amount of sidewide links from one domain? Or do they make an exception in some cases? Note: if you're looking at their profile with Majestic, you need to see their backlink history. There was a massive spike in linking root domains recently from spam. Thanks!
