Are reciprocal internal links weaker than one way?
-
Hi guys
I have an eCommerce site and a blog. the blog is on a suddomain. I am writing content about our products on the blog, I.e. Full in depth reviews and top 10 lists etc.
These blog posts link back to the main product page.
It would also be nice for customers on the site to a "blogs about this product" section. However, would a link from the product page to the blog weaken the internal link from the blog to the product?
Thanks
Paul

Thanks EGOL
This all makes sense. It's nice to get a bit of a sanity check.
I think I worry because in the SERPs we struggle against our competition, but once we get a browser conversion is good. So I keep worrying about the SERPs. But I know I need to just concentrate on writing good content and adding depth to the site, and that will hopefully give us the pay day we are looking for.
Thanks
Paul

If I thought that a link from the product page to the blog would be helpful for the visitors I would have no hesitation to provide it.
Lots of my product pages have a link to an article with anchor text like this. "How we use the SEOmoz Blender" or.. "Video: How we use the SEOmoz Blender"
These have significantly increased conversion rates. I don't care what the search engines think.
If you have a really good article that you think will help visitors make a decision about your product or help them enjoy it I am betting everything that will make you a stronger brand than any teeny tiny advantage that a link on the page or its anchor text will subtract. In fact, I am willing to bet that those back-and-forth links with optimization improve your search visibility because it shows you have deeper content than the guy who has not written this content.. That will earn tweets, likes, links, sales.
Lots of mine have double listings in the SERPs. Then I pull traffic for people who are looking for a product page AND people who are looking for information.
This is not deoptimization or cannibalization. It is kicking ass.

Excellent, great stuff
Thanks for your help. I think these blog posts provide real value to the customers, which is the main thing.
Thanks

Hi Paul,
Reciprocal linking is more something that can devaluate external links. When it comes to internal linking this isn't really a problem. You can definitely include that link when you think it's benificial to your visitors.

Hi, on SEO article submissions, do I only include the link to the page I am trying to promote or is it best practice to also include a link to home page or parent page?
Good day. I am writing articles for submission, I would just like some help with the page structure. Do I only include the link for the page that I would like to promote or is it advisable to include other page links, such as home page or the parent category too? Any help would be appreciated

How do I fix a broken link to a product category page in wordpress?
We are building a new site currently at http://67.222.109.48/~cheapnan/ I started doing some SEO after the developer I hired failed to do it even though it was in the agreement. I did our old site so I should be able to do this but I am new to wordpress. Now when i go to the products tab at the top of the page the first 2 have broken links, I checked the rest and there are 3 total that I need to fix. I am unsure how to access the navigation so I can fix the links. Please tell me where to look.

Ways to generate more targeted traffic ?
We just redesigned our website and the work is still on, but it went live and we are stating to get some good page views now. THE URL is http://www.qubesys.com/blog/ My questions what is the various ways to drive more traffic to such tech blogs. We have an auto social poster app installed which randomly selects from our 350 posts and publishes to FB, Twitter, Google+ of all of our 15 employees every hour. And we get some good Social traffic through that. But what are the other ways ? Shall I invite guest bloggers to submit their blogs into our blog, so they can get a link and we can get some more unique contents ? Or any other methods to get natural traffic, as organic traffic is already happening but its very slow, like 300-500 visits from google.

Google Slower to Trust New Pages than One Year Ago?
It seems to me that Google is slower to trust (and rank) new pages today than in the past. I used to be able to put up a new page and it would go right to the top of a competitive SERP. For about the past year when I launch a new page it starts deep in the SERPs, sits there for a few weeks, then starts slowly moving up. These pages still eventually rank on the first page of Google - often at #1 or #2 after wikipedia or another strong site - but it can take a few months to get there, several months in a competitive SERP. These are not "hot news" topics where freshness is an important factor. Instead they are product pages or general information articles. Anybody else seeing this? [ Just stabbing in the dark here... I am wondering if Google is relying more on visitor behavior these days and the delay is while they collect data?... Just stabbing in the dark.]

The same phrase in many different pages of one site
Hi,
Content Development | | webg
Recently, I had to add the same phrase, with 15 words, nearly, in 700 posts in a same blog. In this phrase is written about the site ownership and eventually some links showing the posts sources. I thought in create a image, but it will be some variations in the source words (2 or 3), therefore I chose to use text format. I'd like to read some comments and opinions about this kind of insertion (the same phrase in many different pages of one site). For exemple, did you handle this in your site? Problems or benefits (mainly with indexing)? Special code to indicate in this case? Any threat?0 -
Best way to get my Blog traffic
I've recently began blogging on my site. The content is all unique and useful and written properly without keyword stuffing... My question is, how do i go about getting people to see the blog (getting traffic to it) so that it can get linked to. I've created content that i believe people will naturally link to, the only problem is they're not finding my blog. Any advice on how to get my blog out into the world?! thanks

Cosmo feature: any difference between linking a phrase or .com?
I just had an article posted on Cosmopolitan.com to my site, www.100redflags.com. My request to them was that they link specifically the phrase "100 Red Flags" to http://100redflags.com, but they actually said "go to 100redflags.com" - with 100redflags.com hyperlinked. My question: If I'm trying to build rank with the term "red flags", or at least "100 red flags", is the way that they did it helping me at all? If it will help me more to have them link the phrase "100 Red Flags", does it matter whether they do that today when traffic is high, or tomorrow when traffic is lower? Thanks for the clarification, Bill p.s their post here: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/dating-advice/dating-mistakes-women-make#slide-1
