Totally inaccurate keyword count show on page grader
-
I've just published a detailed (3000+ words) blog post on AI music and what it means for musicians and artists. It is optimised for the term "AI music" and you can see it here: https://www.scamblermusic.com/ai-music-the-pros-and-cons-explained-by-ai/
When I search the source code of the blog post for "AI music" I see 19 references:
When I search the text in the browser window for "AI music" I see 12 references, yet when I run the Moz page grader to check my optimisation Moz downgrades the rating because it's counting 69 keywords:
I can't work out what Moz is seeing that I am not. Am I missing something really obvious, or is Moz just screwing up (something I haven't seen before with word count)?

@Kateparish Thanks for that, it's helpful to know.
The article I wrote was over 3000 words and it was specifically about AI music - I find it odd and concerning that Moz (and possibly Google), may perceive more than 7 or 8 references to "AI music" to be keyword stuffing, when actually it's impossible to write such a long, detailed article WITHOUT using the defining phrase more than seven or eight times. I would have hoped that Moz/Google would consider the overall length of the article when counting up the keyword total and see it as a percentage, rather than a set amount (regardless of the article length).

Hello,
I want to know what are the basic things which moz pro considers while ranking keywords. Whenever I check my site (Iqama Status) it doesn't show any ranking keyword. why so? You can also check the site is already ranking but no keywords are shown.
Thanks.

@JCN-SBWD Moz may be picking up on other variations or synonyms of the term "AI music" that you may not have noticed. For example, Moz might be counting instances of "artificial intelligence music" or "music generated by AI" as additional keywords.
Another possibility is that Moz is counting all instances of the word "music" on your page, even if it's not directly related to AI music. This could inflate the keyword count and cause Moz to downgrade your rating.
To better understand what's going on, you could try using a different SEO tool to analyze your page or manually count the instances of "AI music" and related terms on your page to see if you get a similar count to Moz's. You could also contact Moz's support team for clarification on how their tool counts keywords. -

It's possible that Moz is counting variations of the keyword "AI music" such as "artificial intelligence music" or "music generated by AI," which may be present in your blog post. Moz may also be counting the keyword usage in areas that you may not have thought of, such as image alt tags, meta descriptions, or header tags.
Additionally, Moz's keyword counting algorithm may not be perfect and may sometimes generate false positives. It's important to remember that while keyword optimization is important for search engine ranking, it's not the only factor that determines your ranking. Other factors such as backlinks, content quality, and user engagement also play a significant role in determining your search engine ranking.
That being said, it's always a good idea to review your content to ensure that your target keyword is used in a natural and organic way, and not overused or stuffed in unnaturally. You can also consider using variations of your target keyword to make your content more diverse and avoid repetitive language.

Unsolved Should I combine pages?
Hi, Im not sure of the correct route to take here... We are a training provider and I manage the website. The main course offered is the transport manager CPC. Currently, I have a "catch all" landing page which links to each different course option: Landing page > Classroom Online Self study Distance learning The main keyword revolves around "transport manager cpc" I want searchers to land on the online page is they search "online transport manager CPC" for example but I think its confusing Google. I'm wondering if I should de-index the store pages (although some perform very well) and increase the content on the main landing page to rank for every related keyword on that page. Initially, I wanted to devalue the landing page in favor of the store pages but I'm unsure if that's the right way to go. I've stripped out the bulk of the keywords and content and shifted it to each individual page. but as above, Im now unsure if that's the right route to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated 👍 Thanks

Landing Page Idea
I have an Insurance Agency and I'm working on new landing pages to hit our surrounding cities. my 1st question is: On my Homeowners Insurance Page, can I add a section for Area's We Insure. To look like this Area's We Insure Allen Plano Frisco McKinney Highland Park Then make each one linkable to it's City Landing Page? Is there any reason this would hurt my seo? 2nd Question: Can I have the City Pages hidden from my navigation- as I already have a huge drop down menu already. Would any of the above hurt my seo**? ** Huge Thanks in Advance!

Why doe SEOmoz include my categories and subcategories when counting on page links?
Hi everyone, I am new to SEOMOZ, but it looks like really good program. I ran a report last week, and SEOMOZ says that out of 10001 pages, I hve a total of 9995 warnings. When I take a look at the breakdown, it says I have too many on page links. I removed the links from the bottom of each page, but my on page links are still over 100. Does this mean that I will have to get rid of categories and sub-categories in the navigation bar? Thanks, Don

Dupelicate content home page and custom page question
I am working on a website that got hit by the penguin update. Didn't get hit terribly bad, but dropped from number one to number 9. As I'm going through the pages, the theme and content is a mess. To give an example, say the site is about custom colored marbles. The main page content covers custom colored marbles, custom promotional marbles, custom glass marbles, etc. Custom colored marbles is mentioned and covered on all pages, which I am going back and trying to make each page theme specific. There is also a custom page, so I am at a cross roads on how best to employ the focus of the custom page and the home page. I am thinking the home page should emphasize colored marbles, and the custom page should emphasize custom colored marbles. My fear is that making such a drastic change will bounce the site completely off front page and that it will take time for the custom page to come up in rankings. AS it stands now I am confused as to how it even ranks on first page as there's two pages with custom colored marbles emphasis. Id like to clean this up as much as possible so there are no big hits with future google updates, but I don't want the site to drop off either as that would be hard to explain to the owner. Yeah, we are cleaning up your site and making it google compliant and in so doing you no longer rank on first page. That won't put food on the table. Thanks for any advise on this.

301 redirects from several sub-pages to one sub-page
Hi! I have 14 sub-pages i deleted earlier today. But ofcourse Google can still find them, and gives everyone that gives them a go a 404 error. I have come to the understading that this wil hurt the rest of my site, at least as long as Google have them indexed. These sub-pages lies in 3 different folders, and i want to redirect them to a sub-page in a folder number 4. I have already an htaccess file, but i just simply cant get it to work! It is the same file as i use for redirecting trafic from mydomain.no to www.mydomain.no, and i have tried every kind of variation i can think of with the sub-pages. Has anyone perhaps had the same problem before, or for any other reason has the solution, and can help me with how to compose the htaccess file? 🙂 You have to excuse me if i'm using the wrong terms, missing something i should have seen under water while wearing a blindfold, or i am misspelling anything. I am neither very experienced with anything surrounding seo or anything else that has with internet to do, nor am i from an englishspeaking country. Hope someone here can light up my path 🙂 Thats at least something you can say in norwegian...

If i only want to rank for one specific keyword and use it in all my page titles, will it negatively affect my rankings?
If i want to rank highest for one specific keyword (virtualization management, for example) and use that keyword in all the titles on my website, will that negatively affect my search rankings? SEOmoz is telling me that i should use unique titles for my different pages to ensure that they describe each page uniquely and don't compete with each other for keyword relevance.
