Which one is the best
-
Dear Seo experts,
1,5 month ago i started a informative website, i started it with a blank registrated domainname. Now 1 month further I've stacked the website with content and did much linkbuilding.
Yesterday i ve bought a domainname from quarantine, its a domainname around 6 years old and has a bunch of backlinks already.
What to do next? The first one has good content and good recent linkbuilding done. The second is a better domainname and is old and has old backlinks. And also higher PA and DA then the first one.
Should i now go for the first one and 301 redirect the old domainname to the new one.
Or should I do it the opposite way, 301 redirect the new website to the old domainname and move all content to the old domainname and try to move all linkbuilding to older domain?
Hopefully anyone could give me a great answere, thank you so much!
Kind regards,
Menno

Thank you for your fast reply.
The old domain name is a .nl and the new domain is a .com in my country .nl ranks little better than the .com. So also this will count, but i also think ill do a 301 redirect from old domain to new domain. I might help a little, it has indeed been expired. Though it is old and still has PA and DA.
Kind regards,
Menno
ps. i made it discussion because i am also curious on other opinions

Hi Menno,
when you do a 301 redirect, from domain A to domain B, you tell search engines Domain A moved permanently to domain B and in a few weeks or months search engines will remove from their index all pages of domain A.
Ideally, the pages of domain A should be found on domain B.
If I were you, I'd 301 redirect the old domain to the new one.
Make sure the old domain it's not an expired one (all backlinks value is lost).
You may want to read these resources to find out more about 301 redirect best practices:

Sub domain? Micro site? What's the best solution?
My client currently has two websites to promote their art galleries in different parts of the country. They have bought a new domain (let's call it buyart.com) which they would eventually like to use as an e-commerce platform. They are wondering whether they keep their existing two gallery websites (non e-commerce) separate as they always have been, or somehow combine these into the new domain and have one overarching brand (buyart.com). I've read a bit on subdomains and microsites but am unsure at this stage what the best option would be, and what the pros and cons are. My feeling is to bring it all together under buyart.com so everything is in one place and creates a better user journey for anyone who would like to visit. Thoughts?

Best practice to handle Wordpress Categories/Tags
Hello Mozzers, I am sure a lot of people here are using wordpress. How do you handle Categories & Tags? I came across that they produce a lot of duplicate content in the google index. My website is brand new so I don't have any traffic yet, how would you handle it? noindex, follow? Or block /categories/ and /tags/ from robots.txt? Probably I am completely wrong with both ways? I am grateful for your answers! Best regards!

How best to fix 301 redirect problems
Hi all Wondering if anyone could help out with this one. Roger Bot crawler has just performed it's weekly error crawl on my site and I appear to have 18,613 temp redirect problems!! Rather, the same 1 problem 18,613 times. My site is a magento store and the errors it is giving me is due to the wishlist feature on the site. For example, it is trying to crawl links such as index.php/wishlist/index/add/product/29416/form_key/DBDSNAJOfP2YGgfW (which would normally add the item to one's wishlist). However, because Roger isn't logged into the website it means that all these requests are being sent to the login url with the page title of Please Enable Cookies. Would the best way to fix this be to enable wishlists for guests? I would rather not do that but cannot think of another way of fixing it. Any other Magento people come across this issue? Thanks, Carl

What online tools are best to identify website duplicate content (plagiarism) issues?
I've discovered that one of the sites I am working on includes content which also appears on number of other sites. I need to understand exactly how much of the content is duplicated so I can replace it with unique copy. To do this I have tried using tools such as plagspotter.com and copyscape.com with mixed results, nothing so far is able to give me a reliable picture of exactly how much of my existing website content is duplicated on 3rd party sites. Any advice welcome!

What is better for SEO, keeping a current blog or creating a new one?
We are working with a client to build a new website. They are asking if we should keep their existing blog or create a new one. If they keep the current blog, should we move it so we can incorporate it into their new site or keep it as a separate URL? Or, should we build the new site into the current blog––they are using Wordpress, so we would be able to build out the blog to incorporate the new website.

Which is best blogging platform from SEO POV?
I am curious to find out what is the blogging platform of choice for enterprize level companies (employees more than 500, revenue more tan 150M). What would be the best solution from SEO point of view? I have used Wordpress in the past for small companies and feel that is the best. We are currently using Telligent. Is anybody using it?
