Linkbuilding actions?
-
Hi there! My cliente has a website about a kitesurf camp and I'm trying to do the linkbuilding strategy. Some actions that I've carry out:
Looking for forums in which people talk about this issue and the services, trips and products the companies offer. The strategy of the company is to focus on the french, english and german market although its main market is in Spain. Are there any risks if we participate in out-of-spain forums? I mean regarding SEO. Should we benefit more from the spanish market in terms of SEO
Looking for websites that are willing to put or exchange a link in its site in order to gain more visibility (on our behalf). I guess this action is complicated. I doesn't depend on us.
Looking for well known directories in which I can anounce the services of this company. I've posted here about this before. Some tell me that is ok but doeesn't have enough relevancy to be present in the directories.
Looking for blogs of the "industry" that give us some insght and try to make any comment on them with a link to our site (if permitted and are followed link). We don't have the enough background in this issue to write a post on a blog or have our own blog to generate enough, freesh and up-to-date content about this topic.
I guess I'm missing something. Any suggestion about how could I lead the linkbuild strategy?
Thanks in advanced.

You could find opportunities for local linkbuilding like blogs that cover local activities. You could offer local bloggers a press pass to check out the camp for free which would encourage them to write about their experience.
Local newspaper sites often have a local event section where they highlight local events. If the camp is held on specific days you could submit it as an event for their event calendar.
If you hold the camp at a local address you can submit the business to local business directories like Yelp or CitySearch.
You could look at non-profits in your area and donate to them to be featured on their sponsors page. You could also donate a free pass for a non-profit auction in return for a link.
You can pay to be added to the directory of your local business organization. In the U.S., this is typically a local branch of the Chamber of Commerce.

thanks Gina. Very helpful answer. I'm just doing my first linkbuilng campaing and depending on the business model and the requirements and resources of the company this activity could be an authentic mess.

Other than finding site owners of good sites willing to include your link within the content on their site without an exchange, the kinds of links you are describing aren't really your best bet in terms of high quality links that will impact your standing. While these tactics aren't necessarily bad practice per se, they each have their cautions and they won't earn you especially potent links.
Watch out for the link exchange route- only do this within your niche with sites that have an indisputable relevance and connection to what your website is about. Forums are great to participate and learn in, and you stand to develop some strong relationships that way, but don't count on links within the forum to benefit your link portfolio. Same for blog comments even if they are follow links.
What is raising my curiosity the most here, is why your client has website in an industry she or he doesn't know enough about to create content? Is this a new business endeavor in a field they have yet to understand or participate in?
Here's my real answer to your questions:
It's not all about links. Having a successful business and website is about offering something of value.
My best suggestion is for you both to spend your time developing knowledge and confidence to write about kite surfing and related topics. Read like crazy. Research and learn. Gain knowledge and build opinions and a viewpoint to write from. You can write about related topics also- what are kite surfers interested in? Great locations for kite surfing, other related water sports, equipment, lessons, stories about kite surfing experiences, dolphins, beaches, dangers.....
Creating compelling and helpful content and publicizing it on your social accounts and anywhere else you can will give your readers an opportunity to share and link to your site is the way to earn quality links.
Hope this is helpful, Juan.

A lot of blogs use wordpress or blogspot, are these blogs still useful for SEO in terms of linkbuilding, or should they be avoided?
I am very new to linkbuilding and SEO as a whole, so please forgive my ignorance. Reaching out to bloggers is a common tactic, but I've found a lot of people tend to blog with the assistance of wordpress or blogspot. I was wondering whether these blogs are still useful for SEO or if it is best to avoid them? Thanks in advance, Lewis

How to do LinkBuilding in 2015 without getting affected?
Hello. My name is Palla Sridhar. from India. small time blogger. I have a SEO site which recently had 12 pv/day. I recently did 2 guest posts on 2 sites. On 1 site, I included link to my site's article in the content and author bio. In another I just did it in author bio. After that my traffic dropped to 4 pv/day. Is there any official guide from Moz, on how to do link-building? Is the above process of doing link-building correct? How to do it without getting our traffic affected in the long run and short run?

Feeling "vision limited" in the linkbuilding process
Hi there! My client has a web about kitesurfing (he offers a bilingual kitesurf camp) and after thinking about linkbuilding actions I've come into conclusion that the only effective way of generating backlinks is make the sharing NATURAL via high quality CONTENT creation and distributing it through different digital channels as some of you told me before. The problem is that the website is much 1.0 (static) rather than 2.0 (there's no blog and there's neither time nor resources to mantain it). Therefore I feel I bit limited in the process. Does anyone share my statament? Any advice? Thanks in advance

How to improve (ASAP) the linking root domain, the followed linking root domains and the linking C-Blocks? Linkbuilding (or whatever) techniques.
I have a small site (.com) like any website in my sector. 30-90 pages. I have no crawls errors. Everythings is fine, just I need to improve my linking root domain, the followed linking root domain and the linking C-Blocks. Example: my competitors have 300 (one of them have 1300) of total links. I have 30. Anyone know some good strategies? techniques? tips? I just dont want to be in a farm directory, I want free links. I'm already running two strategies but it works so slowly. I want something faster at this moment. Also, any recommendation will be thankful.

Linkbuilding for Clients? Do I create new email account for outreach?
Hey Guys, So in the past when I would build links for a client I would create a new email account or have them create a new email account for their website which I can use for email outreach for building links. Also I would try to use their twitter user accounts to get in contact with other niche bloggers for a potential link back or a social mention. Is this how you guys suggest I should continue going about building links for a client? Or do you suggest using my email (agency email) or a random gmail account for email outreach? Thanks

Average time to see results after linkbuilding?
Hello everyone, I did some linkbuilding in the last few weeks, most of these links are already indexed by Google when i check their Google-cache. But i don't see any improvements in my own positions, despite my backlinks are really good. I'm now wondering, how long does it normally take to see position improvements after your linkbuilding? (Further the on page SEO is good and i'm regulary updating my website) Regards, Yannick

Linkbuilding: Checklist for quality of a link
Hi everyone, During linkbuilding you often stumble upon those links you are not quite sure of. At first it may seem like a brilliant idea to get a link fom that site but on a second look it may be not. So what would be a checklist of things to look for, if one is asessing a website's link quality? (e.g. how do you spot a bad neighborhood?) If you are using SEOmoz tools for the quality asessment, which one would you use? Looking forward to your answers! Thx for the help in advance! Regards Thorsten
