Blog Networks
-
We have found a couple of blogs that would be good for some unique content but I suspect they may be part of a network. Apart from checking the IP and for duplicate content of them both, are there any other signs that they may be part of a network?
-
This question is probably best to ask in its own question, rather than appending on to this one (as it's about a year old). If you can add some more context, that'd be really helpful. Thanks!

Thanks for clarifying, what are signs of common foot print. Ones that help me determine if that is what the SEO company is doing in order to guarantee high ranking. My client doesn't know anything about SEO tactics. Are there blog networks that are considered white hat or are they all black hat?
-
These sites don't diagnose if it's a blog network, they just show you sites that have common footprints.

Thanks Keri, how long does it to determine if this site is tied to a blog network. The SEO company working on it for a dentist I work with just posted it two weeks or so ago. mydentistapplevalley.com

I tried Reverse Internet mentioned above. Do I need to be logged in. The site I'm checking on was posted live two weeks ago. Will it take some time to be read?
-
spyonweb.com will also look for the same Google Adsense and Google Analytics codes/accounts across sites.

Cheers guys, much appreciated

If you use Reverse Internet: http://reverseinternet.com/, you will be able to see any shared Google adsense or affiliate IDs as well. If this is the case, it's probably a network.
If they haven't hidden the details, you could also try looking at the whois data with Domain Tools: http://www.domaintools.com/

most obvious thing is that they tend to link to one another heavily. use open site explorer to check the major links going through and see if one domain points to the others you are thinking about and then check the others.
also check their code and see if they are doing anything funny, like cloaking information - another common blog entwork trick

Getting links on old blog posts
There's 100 of blogs with posts that link to my competitors, but don't link to my site. They are mostly lists. Eg: "The best Sites to get blue widgets" I was thinking about getting in touch with these blogs, and asking them to take a look at my site, to see if perhaps they would add it to the list. In fact, I started doing it and I got some links already. Now I am starting to worry that Google could consider these links as unnatural, because, you know, the algos are not exactly perfect. Anyway, the links are important for the exposure anyway. I've two questions: 1. Is there any chance I'll be penalized? 2. May I get a SEO benefit from this links?

High Quality Guest Blog Swapping
I have tried checking out a few of the big guest blogging sites out there but every time I create a killer article the site that offers to publish it is normally some suspiciously spammy side with a low Moz score. Does anyone know any sites where guest bloggers can link up to swap high quality blog posts. Maybe one that requires some filtering of poor quality host blogs?

Blog Commenting, how to start?
Greetings Mozzers, I have read that interacting on blogs in a natural way is good for building relationships as well as earning links. This is what I'd like to do, however what is the best way to find blogs to start doing this for different industries? Google [industry blogs]? Go to competitors and look at their link profiles to see if there are blogs they are on? Whats a good way to start this method? All the advice/clarification would be outstanding!

Blog Commenting - Useful?
How useful are you finding blog commenting to be regarding link building? I was having a discussion with someone about this today, and I thought some input from the Moz community may be helpful. How helpful do you find blog commenting to be in link building? Do you have any evidence of effectiveness/ineffectiveness? Is it something you still currently do (for link building)? Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Guest blogging on a "network" of sites. Good or BAD?
Hi guys! We have the opportunity to guest blog on a network of sites. Basically, this is a syndicated network of sports blogs (around 200) that all link to each other. They own and operate a blog for each major sports franchise. They each average a DA around 60, but almost all of their link equity comes from blogs they own and operate.... My question is this, should we take the opportunity to create editorial content with links back to our site. This would not be paid side or footer links, but real content relevant to their blog and our industry. On a side note; All of these site have a very decent DA and show up well in Google... Thanks for any advice!!!

White Hat way to do blog commenting
Do you guys think careful blog commenting is still a valuable day-to-day linkbuilding tactic? If I create a list of relevant unspammed blogs, and spend maybe 30 minutes per day commenting on 3-5 of them per day, while making sure that they're not inundated with spammy comments - is that worth my time?

What after I place a blog comment
I have started commenting on high PR DoFollow blogs more strongly off late. I don't do it just for the heck of it. I comment on relevant posts, go through them nicely and make sensible comments. This way I make sure my comments are not removed by the admin, What I want to know is... What after I make the comment and put my website's URL there? Does that mean I have got a backlink already? Or do I need to do something else too to make sure Google recognizes that as a backlink? I have the same question regarding forum postings too.

Inbound Links from a Blog
Hi there, I am looking to set up a blog to support my websites SEO with inbound links. I was wondering if the blog being a .org would carry more weight than being a .com? Any suggestions on this?
