Google Places For Display Homes

Hi all,
We have a client who is looking to get their Display Homes on Google Places. The main issue is as they are display homes, they do not get post delivered to them yet. So the old 'postcard verification' is not going to work, but its the only option we are getting.
I would normally say, this might not be possible. Unfortunately one of their key competitors has somehow got all their Display Homes verified - so I was looking for some insight as to how this is possible? Am I missing something here?

Hi Jon,
Your competitor should not be included in the local results for his display homes as these fall under the following Google Places Quality Guidelines (http://support.google.com/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=107528
"Rental or for-sale properties, such as vacation homes or vacant apartments, are not eligible to be listed on Google Maps and should not be verified. Instead, verify the listing for your sales or leasing office or offices. If you have a property with an on-site office, you may verify that office location."
So, unless there is an office on the property that can be listed, this type of property cannot be included. How is your competitor getting away with this? I don't know. Perhaps they have an on-site office, or perhaps it's a goof on Google's part. Place Pages/+ Pages that are in violation of the guidelines certainly exist and can be live for an indeterminate amount of time before Google takes notice and penalizes or removes them. If the competitor is violating the guidelines, they are in danger of their whole profile falling under suspicion if/when Google catches on to the fact that they have listed vacant properties. If you feel that the competitor's current advantage is unfair, you do have the option to report the listings, but that's about all you can do.

As we all know, Google redirected the user based on location automatically.

Google Places, Google+ Local, or both?
I understand that Google is in the process of merging Google Places into Google+ Local, but the current state is very confusing. There are still two separate signup pages, and neither even MENTIONS the other. If someone is establishing a business web presence today, what should we set up?

Local SEO: Google Places and Google+
Hello, I'm a little confused by Google+ for business. I set up a Google Places page in 2010 and recently changed my address to incorporate my suite number and to spell out "Street" instead of abbreviating. I'm planning on carefully changing all citations to match. Next I started a Google+ page for my business. But I couldn't fill out the address and ended up requesting a postcard for verification to continue. The postcard was sent to the right address but no suite number. I'll still get the postcard, but I can't finish my page yet. Also, I don't know if I have to re-verify my Places page with the slight changes. Am I on the right track?

Ranking Differences for Google+ Local vs. Places Listings
I'm seeing some odd behavior with Google+ Local and Google Places listings for clients. I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing it... Here's the situation: We've recently bought on 4 new clients that all have duplicate listing issues, and, weirdly, all have both places and a Google+ local created listings. For three of those four, the Google+ local listing is outranking the Places account for a brand name search (e.g. Dr. John Doe). Weirdly, in one instance, the Google+ local account that is outranking the Places page is named in a less accurate fashion. e.g searching for "Dr. John Doe" the rankings look like this... A) John Doe Plastic Surgery, P.C. - Dr. John Doe B) Dr. John Doe, MD Anyone else seeing this sort of behavior? How are you creating local listings for clients these days - via the places dashboard, or Google+ Local?

Google Local Result - wrong decription
A client's description in their Google Places result is incorrect. It looks as though it may have been cached several months ago with incorrect data. Note: By description I am referring to the text that appears directly under the URL and directly above the "places page" link on a results page, not the local listing "description". Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed? All the information on their local page is correct. The website's meta-description is correct. The organic results listing has the correct description. Google Places - Local Search - Not ranking when 100% complete?
Hi I have followed the examples set by David Mihm and fully completed a Google Places listing - with the geographical area covering the area that it serves along with lots of local citations but when searching on google for 'accountants swansea' it is way down on page 4 of the places results. Does it take time for Google to recognise these changes to Places listings or is my listing incorrect to attract a high listing for the search phrase. Looking at the competition many of them have not optimised or done anything with their listings pages so I am at a loss to explain why the listing is doing so badly. Google Places - Co Working Spaces
Hello, Hope this hasn't been answered but no combination of searches could turn it up. What is the impact for those using a co working space such as http://www.thenetworkhub.ca/ in regards to Google Places and local searches? Assumedly there will be multiple 'businesses' using the same address including suite number. Does this cause issue with Google understanding that these are truly legit 'offices' and work address for honest to goodness businesses? Suppose part of the challenge may be those using this address for just mail and answering... Guess my point is, will 20-40 people using the same address for their places profile be a problem? What alternatives exist for these folks? Thanks y'all!
