Are high quality press release syndication site links valuable?
-
Suppose your press release got picked up by high authority sites like Yahoo, Morningstar, PaidContent.org, etc. But they republished the press release and kept the links. Do these links pass any value since the sites are just republishing the press release?
-
I think the valuable from the release is 100% dependent on the quality of the news / material.
If the release is shared and one high end media company picks it up, it's possible that their copy of the content trumps all other publications including the original release itself.
When this happens, then the value can of course be significant link-wise.
However, its best to focus on releases as a tool in the toolbox with a specific marketing purpose as opposed to link building.

I've had the same experience as James.
The conventional wisdom is "Anchor text links from press release sites don't count, and Matt Cutts said so."
This suffers from the defect of being doubly untrue.

Such links do sometimes count
-
Matt Cutts never, ever said: "Anchor text links from press release sites never count." It's pretty much an urban legend that ought to be featured in Snopes. Matt made two off-the cuff remarks years apart to the effect that he wouldn't expect certain types of links to count in certain situations. These have now been taken completely out-of-context and repeated ad nauseum to attribute to Matt a statement he never made.
It's mind boggling.
Whether a press release strategy is the wisest use and best use of marketing dollars is another question entirely. There are both SEO and branding considerations.
My take: it's another tool in the toolbox, and is right for some situations -- but not others.

Matt Cutts has repeatedly said that Google does not give importance to links from press releases and does not use them for ranking purposes.
However, we have personally run many campaigns of PR where we were able to get ranking to our websites using anchor text links from the press releases. So, I would say the links are still valuable even if they are syndication.
But then these high PR sites are very good for branding and generating traffic to your website. So, don't worry too much about getting the link benefit as syndication will help your site no matter what.

Can a No Follow Press Release harm you?
Hello I know that , in theory, a No Follow link should not be dangerous in any cause. My question is: Can a No Follow Press Release harm you? I watched the Matt Cutts Video about and was pretty clear that the answer is NO. I also read (Google Source) that all press releases should be no follow and with no rich anchor text. We agree till here, right? But what if the press release if part of a link network, bad quality or simply you have many many press releases from one of these PR networks? In this situation, the no follow link is still "safe" or do you think there is some danger? Im doing some "cleaning" and I would like to know your opinion about. Many Thanks for your help

HELP - Should I Disavow SEO, Site Analysis, and Website Worth Links?
I have a gadget site and have MANY links to my site from sites that offer web analysis or SEO tools. For example, the site chkme.com has over 1,000 links to my home page. I don't know who they are, why they are linking to my site, and their site is irrelevant to my industry. Should I disavow links from sites like these? My site seems to be linked to from a lot of "website worth" type sites as well. I think I may have been hit with an unnatural site penalty but I do NO blackhat or any type of link building whatsoever. Thanks in advance 😉

Creative link building ideas for law sites
I have a client who does not actively participate in the content writing or resource providing part of optimization or link building. I want to build some more links to the site outside of content spreading and guest blogging. I have read a lot of the recent articles on creative ways to build links but feel that most would not apply to this kind of site. Any ideas on creative link building methods for a law services info site?

How do sites have so many 'total links'?
I've been analyzing some of our competitors: essayedge.com and papercheck.com Both sites have a large number of 'total links'... about 93,000 each. The former has about 1,200 linking root domains while the latter only has 195. Even for 1,200 linking root domains, 93k total links seems like a ton to me. Our site has 101 linking root domains and only 299 'total links'. I'm quite new to this whole SEO game and admittedly still learning a TON. Am I missing something here? How do sites generate so many links? This seems nuts to me. Thanks for any help!

Is there way to identify all back links throughout a site or do I have to check one site page at a time? Thanks!
Sorry if it is obvious, but I can't seem to figure it out. I'd like to be able to run a report that will list all of the back links on every page of my site.

Google not providing all competitor site's external incoming links?
I heard Google is not providing all of a competitor's site's external links, speculated as protecting their privacy. But that Yaho still provides the complete list of their recognized links. (I assume they mean when using the term 'link:url') Has anyone else heard this claim? Is there a way around this check? What sources do you use at SEOMoz for your Pro reports? thanks, geo
