Accidental Link not being removed by Google WMT
-
I operate two sites for a client. One is a local business and one is their national business. I used the same template for both sites (with changes) but accidentally left a link in the footer to the local site. Now the local site is showing 12k backlinks from the national site. I removed the link over 2 weeks ago but it still shows up in Google WMT in the "Links to your Site" section. It goes to a coupon page and not a "targeted" page but 12k links to the local site is 6 TIMES what I had before.
My question is:
"Is there a way to get Google to remove the link from Google WMT?" More specifically force it. Like I said the link has been removed for over 2 weeks but it still shows up in the Local site's Incoming Links section of WMT.
Thanks.

Mat is accurate on his response, it takes quite some time for WMT to remove links. For example, I removed 15k links in March, but Google didnt crawl all those links and remove them from WMT until June.

The links are pointing to particular Coupons that are on the local website. I'm concerned about the large number of links (spike in links) and how Google will judge it.
Thanks for your info.

When you remove a link you need to wait for Google to recrawl those pages and then update it's index. So, if you had links from 12,000 pages then Google has to go through all of those again and update it's record of them. If the pages are deep or on a low authority domain that could take a while. It might take a lot longer than 2 weeks.
If the links are not pointing to the home page you could consider 404ing the URL that they point to. That would prevent anything negative passing down those links.
In reality though, your best bet is most likely to sit tight and wait for them to update. They'll annoy you a bit in the mean time, but unless there is anything worrying about the other domain they are not likely to cause harm coming from just one domain.

Cannonical Links?
Hi guys, I recently started using Moz Analytics's for my site and it has told me that the vast majority (perhaps all) of my pages have duplicate content because Google will be indexing the version both with and without www. in front of it as seperate domains. I've done some research and have come across a few suggestions of what to do, but i'm not sure which to go with or how to actually implement it. Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Registration tracking with Google Analytics
Hi everyone, I want to track user registrations with Google Analytics for a customer's website. The thing is after registration visitors are not directed to a specific page, so I can't set it as a goal. I thought of tracking submit button with event tracking, but that data would not be true as a visitor may click it more than once, and there's the login with facebook and twitter thing. Before convincig customer to create a registration confirmation page, I want to make sure there's no other way as they don't want to make any changes to the current website. Any ideas?

Google Bot blocked
Google says that they are blocked from crawling my site. I have tried to get my web masters to look into this and they say the site apears fine. However, my SERP results have been falling and the errors are increasing. http://www.RealEstateMarketLeaders.com https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2409441 I have sent an e mail into Google asking for help and I have been looking into every possible channel to find a solution for this problem. The site does have a 301 re direct pointing in from my old site http:///www.TriCitiesRealEstateAgent.com into my new site http://www.RealEstateMarketLeaders.com. However, I am not sure if that is the problem or if something else happend to make me see such a huge drop in SERP results.

Google Keyword Tool versus Google Analytics
Hi I'm trying to establish a methodology to best show the gap between potential and realised organic keyword traffic. To obtain potential keyword traffic I'm using the Google Adwords keyword tool to derive local monthly search volumes for exact keyword matches. To get the realised data I'm using Google Analytics. However, to get the I'm confused as to which is the best way of getting a comparable metric from Google Analytics (GA). I was using custom reports and the 'organic searches' metric. However, this provides different values to a standard report selecting non-paid search in the default advanced segments. What is the best report/metric in GA to use for both organic and paid search volumes that would be comparable to the Google Adwords keyword tool. Thanks Neil
