Are these URLs too Keyword-packed?
-
Hi guys,
Here is the URL: http://www.consumerbase.com/mailing-lists/dog-stores-mailing-list.html
The target keywords are "Dog stores mailing list" and "Dog stores mailing lists"
Does having "mailing-list" and "mailing-lists" in my URL hurt me?
-
Does anyone else have any insight to these URLs?
-
The second one (/business-mailing-lists/dog-stores-mailing-list.html) just reads a bit too spammy for my tastes. If Business is the category, "dog-stores-mailing-lists" lets someone reading that ID know it's probably dog store mailing lists for a business. Repeating "mailing lists" twice seems redundant and doesn't add any additional value or insight as to what those pages contain.
Now, will Google see this as spammy across 80,000 pages? Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I'd choose something like this "www.consumerbase.com/mailing-lists/business/dog-stores-address-list.html" which shows the hierarchy of the site, reads clean, and gets multiple keywords in without being redundant.
I hope that helps

Thanks Andrew.
I want to make these URLs as unique as possible (there are 80,000 of them, and I am having a hard time getting them indexed). I need the site structure to be perfect.
There are 2 types of mailing lists, business and consumer.
Do you think this would be good to add?
www.consumerbase.com/mailing-lists/business/dog-stores-mailing-list.html or would it be better for the site structure to make it like this since we actually have a /business-mailing-lists.html page?
www.consumerbase.com/business-mailing-lists/dog-stores-mailing-list.html -
If it makes sense to the user and it reads naturally (does not sound spammy), then you're probably fine (the separation makes sense--dog store mailing list is a sub-section of the mailing list category). It's also good that "mailing-lists" and "Dog stores mailing list" are separated in the url, indicating it's part of the site structure.
You would want to avoid something like this: www.consumerbase.com/mailing-lists-dog-stores-mailing-list.html
have you given thought to changing "Dog-stores-mailing-list" to "Dog-stores-[keyword]-[keyword]" where the last two keywords are synonyms for mailing lists like "address list" or something similar. This diversifies what you're targeting while still telling the search engines the same basic thing--you're page is a mailing list for dog stores.
All in all, your URL/page IDs aren't going to make a huge difference when keyword targeting, just make sure it's relevant and makes sense when you read it aloud.

If concepts are too similar when grouping keywords what do I do ?
I will summarise and then ty to explain : When I group keyword with the keyword explorer if concepts (grouping keywords) that I find are too similar to each other how do I go about it... Ldg me know explain. When google doesn't have enough data to rank a website with content does it only use links ? Let me give you an example. If I take "title tag" as a keyword people have a lots of questions that can be answered which will create numerous concepts. However, let's take "hiking tours Italy" for example. If I go through the keyword explorer or all the other tools existing out there people don't have questions. All I find are variations or synonyms of my keyword and I group by low lexical similarity all the words are going to be very similar. I know that each variation can be grouped and considered a different concepts but writing about various concepts that mean exactly the same thing because of lack of data not very smart and useful... So in that case what does google do, does it rank a website only based on links or schema ? see that it has no way to rank it based on good quality content because of a lack of data (questions that could be answers that would lead to concepts). Thank you,

http://www.exemple.com/ru-kg/pешения-для/cellulose-solutions/ I am wondering if this error is really caused by the server or if Google have difficulty reading the russian langage in URL's. Is it better to have the URL's only in english ?0 -
Changing URL to a subdomain?
Hi there, I had a website www.footballshirtcollective.com that has been live since July. It contains both content and eCommerce. I am now separating out the content so that; 1. The master domain is www.footballshirtcollective.com (content) pointing to a new site 2. Subdomain is store.footballshirtcollective.com (ecommerce) - pointing to the existing site. What do you advise I can do to minimise the impact on my search? Many thanks Mike

URL Construction
Working on an old site that currently has category urls (that productively rank) like this example: LakeNameBoating.com/category/705687/rentals I want to enhance the existing mid page one rank for terms related to "Lake Name Boat Rentals," 301ing the old urls to the new, would you construct the new urls as: LakeNameBoating.com/lake-name-boat-rentals or... LakeNameBoating.com/boat-rentals And why? It's all for one particular lake with "name" being just an anonymous placeholder example. Thanks!

The symbol "<" and ">" get converted into "%3c" and "%3e" respectively, is this the reason for these urls not getting indexed?0 -

Rel=Canonical URLs?
If I had two pages: PageA about Cats PageB about Dogs If PageA had a link rel=canonical to PageB, but the content is different, how would Google resolve this and what would users see if they searched "Cats" or "Dogs?" If PageA 301 redirected to PageB, (no content in PageA since it's 301 redirected), how would Google resolve this and what would users see if they searched "Cats" or "Dogs?"
