The Wrong Page Is Still The Only One Ranking
-
For some reason, the search term "Tampa Personal Injury Attorney," shows this page of our's http://www.kempruge.com/personal-injury/ on the second page, but omits this page http://www.kempruge.com/tampa-personal-injury-attorney/ (the correct one). The correct one only shows up in omitted results.
I have posted this question before. I made the changes suggested to me, and it actually worked for a couple weeks. But, it reverted back. I tried for the last two months to fix this on my own, but I just can't figure it out.
Does anyone have any idea what to do here?
Incredibly appreciative of any assistance,
Ruben

Hi Ruben,
If the one is showing and it's perfectly relevant and has equally good information, then I wouldn't worry about it. But maybe you think you'll get higher rank for that location if that page ranks, and that may be true. So how do you do that?
First step I'd try is clean up the copy. In my opinion, it's overly optimized with that EXACT phrase occuring 9 times in a small amount of copy. It's unnatural. You wouldn't speak that way, so why write that way, and why would you want your readers to even see that page then? I think Google shares that sentiment. So write for consumer first, Google second.
So what do you write? I've had success rewriting and reusing the main landing page copy, whether that be the home page, or in your case, the generic personal injury attorney landing page for pages like this. You have to consider that anyone landing on this page, assuming you get it to rank, don't have the benefit of landing on the home page and may never see your personal injury page, so you need enough good information here to get them to call. But you don't want duplicate content, so you have to make it different enough. That can be difficult, I know. How many times can you write basically the same thing?
The other option is to provide completely different content and then force them to go elsewhere in search of information about your services. I know that's contrary to logic. It's better to convert them on the spot, but if you can't because your site will have too much duplicate content, or you worry about people landing on this page and it sounding too much like another page they just came from, then make this page very different. But do understand this may be their landing page from the search engine, so be sure to have enough information at the top that tells them they are in the right place and you have what they need. Then fill the rest of the page with geo-specific information that gives you an opportunity to weave your local keywords in. You have an office there. Put your address (with schema code), phone number and map. Perhaps you also include city-specific information that your Tampa target market might find valuable and relevant, perhaps even ways your attorneys are involved in that community or cases they've fought and won in the community.
Finally something I've had success with is thinning out content that seems to be cannibalizing other pages. In your case, you could remove the word Tampa from the page that is currently ranking and link to "Locations" instead. From there link to your city pages. Be careful though. That could have a negative effect. At least you have some rank for that page. You don't want to lose it all, but it could be something to try. But do get that Tampa page in order first. That may be all you need.
My 2 cents for what it's forth. Do let us know how it goes!

Redirecting homepage to internal page (2nd Tier page)
We are planning to experiment redirecting our homepage to one of the 2nd tier page. I mean....example.com to example.com/page. We need this page to rank well, but it doesn't have much internal links or external back-links, so we opt for this redirect. Advantage with this page is, it has "keyword" we want to rank for in URL. "page" in example.com/page. Will this help or hurt us in SEO? I think we are missing keyword in our root domain, so interested to highlight this page. Thanks, Satish

Will two navigation components (one removed by Javascript) impact Google rankings?
We are trying to eliminate tedium when developing complexly designed responsive navigations for mobile, desktop and tablet. The changes between breakpoints in our designs are too complex to be handled with css, so we are literally grabbing individual elements with javascript and moving them around. What we'd like to do instead is have two different navigations on the page, and toggle which one is on the DOM based on breakpoint. These navigations will have the same links but different markup. Will having two navigation components on the page at page load negatively impact our Google SEO rankings or potential to rank, even if we are removing one or the other from the DOM with JavaScript?

One landing page or many?
I can not understand which is the best way to target similar keywords. Do the best way is create landingpage for each long tail keyword landing page or better one but with all included keywords? On the siste i have landingpages: 1. Metal doors 1.2. Steel doors for private houses 1.3. Metal doors for flats 1.4 Metal doors for technical rooms and so on. In Latvian language it sounds ok. Some time ago for other sites it worked good but now it just does not work. I see google meses these results up and seo performance is bad. Can you suggest correct structure? Thanks

Sites still rank who don't seem like they should. Why?
So you've been MOZing and SEOing for years and we're all convinced of the 10x factor when it comes to content and ranking for certain search terms... right? So what do you do when some older sites that don't even produce content dominate the first page of a very important search term? They're home pages with very little content and have clearly all dabbled in pre Panda SEO. Surely people are still seeing this and wondering why?

Ranking dynamic landing pages
I have a client and I'm working on a project with their development team. We're creating dynamic landing pages populated with their lead data. Similar to the style of linkedin. For example, someone searches for "demand generation manager" and one of our pages with contact information (some) shows up in the search results. www.leadgenius.com/demandgenerationjobs (or something like that. we have yet to flesh this out). We're also looking into different backlinking strategies to support optimizing the above mentioned pages in addition to their new site launching this month. What is the best way to optimize the dynamic pages as well as the main site in tandem or independently?

How to rank product pages?
Hi guys, Please advice me on something improving my product pages ranking. We are doing well for head terms, categories but not ranking for product pages. We have issues with product pages which I am think is hard to tackle. For instance we have duplicate products (different colors), duplicate content internally (colors) and from manufacturer websites. Product pages linked from sub-category i.e. Home > Category > Sub-Category (20 per page) using pagination for next 20 and so on. Product pages linked internally via widgets that says other Similar products, featured products etc. Another issue with our product pages is that we are using third party reviews platform and whenever users add reviews to product pages this platform creates an hyperlink to different anchors which is not relevant to product. Example - http://goo.gl/NUG652 Can somebody please give some advice on how to improve rankings for product pages. writing unique content for thousands of pages is not possible. Even our competitor not writing unique content.

High ranked web site on Google GONE - but webspam team says nothing wrong
We purchased several weeks ago a .org blog that has been highly ranked (number 1 on competetive keywords) for at least a year. it is a blog We moved the blog to our IP range and it went from #1 on top keyword and first page on another to the home page just gone. Now there was a secondary page indexed that stayed on page 5 for the keyword the home page was ranked #1 but the home page (which was high ranked page is just gone) We wrote the Google Webmaster team for reconsideration but they wrote back and said the web spam team said nothing wrong. A contact of mine who works for one of the most well known SEO compaines in the world says because we moved it the site could disappear for a week or so but the "algos would realize" and return it to that top spot soon. Does anyone know anything about moving a site to new IP and issues that can result?

How do I increase rankings when the indexed page is the homepage?
Hi Forum, This is a two-part question. The first is: "what may be the cause of some rank declines?" and the second is "how do I bring them back up when the indexed page is the homepage?" Over the last week I noticed some declines in several of my top keywords, many of which point to the site's homepage. The site itself is an eCommerce site, which had less visits last week than normal (holidays it seems, since the data jibes with key dates). Can a decline in traffic cause ranking declines? Any other ideas of where to look? Secondly, for those keywords that link to the homepage, how do we bring these back up since a homepage can't be optimized for every single keyword? We sell yoga products and can't have a homepage that is optimized for keywords like "yoga mat," "yoga blocks," "yoga pilates clothing," and several others, as these are our category pages' keywords. Any thoughts? Thanks!
