Why does SEOMoz use Wistia? Why would you not use YouTube as well? Does Vimeo factor into the equation at all?
-
I am wondering what the best options are for video hosting websites (YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, etc.). Which host has the best interface that you would want to use to embed into your site? Any advice you have in regards to optimizing the videos on our site, then that would be much appreciated. Thanks! And our YouTube channel is here http://www.youtube.com/user/gooverseas

Phil from Distilled just weighed in on how to choose a platform for hosting video, and when you'd want YouTube versus some other options in the thread at www.seomoz.org/q/best-way-to-host-video.

That has changed: http://vimeo.com/pro

Tony, can you clarify what you meant about the video sitemaps? Did you mean that you should create/submit your own video sitemap or let the video host do it for you?
-
One thing to also consider/remember is that when you submit that content to youtube, be sure to get the credit on your site. So host the video on youtube/wistia/whatever, but the page that it is embedded on your site is also submitted via google video sitemaps.

Thanks Keri, that was helpful!

Thanks for sharing Keri. I missed that blog. Great info.

I don't have any insider knowledge of why SEOmoz chose Wistia, but there is some information in this post about the Top 10 Web Apps We Love. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/top-10-web-apps-we-love
Wistia is video hosting on steroids. Not only does this video hosting platform support HTML5, which makes your videos viewable on a slew of non-Flash enabled devices, but the platform is inherently designed for SEO. Try searching Google for "Top 10 Web Apps We Love" and you'll likely see the above Wistia-hosted video that's included with this blog post. Their tracking and analytics are also the best we've seen in video hosting. See a sample report here.

Well, for starters, Vimeo doesn't allow business videos since it leans more on artistic pieces or something that deals with art.

Domain and Sub-Domain Question
Hi, My company owns the domains www.NYSTATEMLS.COM and www.MYSTATEMLS.COM both of these sites are already on there way with a lot going on. I did just review video 5 on technical SEO and Rand was talking about how much harder it is to rank two websites. So i'm wondering what could be done in this area? Should something be done? The website nystatemls.com is necessary because it's dedicated to the state of new york & has been around for a long time. mystatemls.com came later because the business grew and we opened up to the national market. Looking for some insight. Thanks so much, Chris Farcher

Should this site be using Rel=Canonical VS No Index
I'm currently working on this site https://www.visitliverpool.com/accommodation I've been watching this video by Rand - https://moz.com/blog/rel-canonical but it's still unclear in this scenario. if you use the search facility "check availability" half way down the page the results page (urlparams) are no indexed. Would it be better to index and canonicalise? There is no similar content but I'm concerned that no index will remove the ability for semantic content to be visible to google. LADkajY

Need help linking Youtube account to Google+ profile? (please read description, thank you)
Our Youtube was managed by a SEO company. We are no longer working with them, but separated on amicable terms. I want to link our youtube account to our company owner's personal google+ profile. However, when I try to do so, the only option Youtube allows me is the former SEO company's google+ account as the only link option. Can someone tell me how I can link our youtube account to our company owner's g+? I can still contact our former SEO company if the need to 'release' ownership. Thank you!

Link juice retained when using nofollows?
Is it still true that when linking to other sites with nofollow links, the juice is retained on your page? Or is the juice lost, but just not passed on to the other site? I found this whiteboard friday, but it's pretty old (2007): http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-the-juice-is-loose Looking forward to your thoughts!

E-Book Versus Whitepaper - Which Term to Use?
So I have read several articles about the use of terms e-books versus whitepapers. Both pros and cons to use for each. Do you have any experience on which has worked better for you - converted more traffic, gotten more interest, etc? Would love to hear your experience on these terms. Thanks.
