UX and/or Conversion Help for Ecommerce
-
Good Morning,
We recently revamped and relaunched our ecommerce website and we believe we have built a great site that is easy to navigate, find what you're looking for, get all details, and purchase.
We were hoping to get some of the Moz community to take a look at the site and let us know if you have any suggestions on usability or conversion techniques that we could implement to improve user experience and amount of orders placed.
You can view our site here
Looking forward to your feedback.
Thanks in advance

Input from the Moz community is great, but input from your own users is even better! I agree that tools like Hotjar or Inspectlet are a good way to measure the user experience. Just watch some recordings of users to get an idea of what they do on the site. This way you get some good understanding about their behavior and where they get stuck/leave.
Alternatively you could do some usability testing with users. Research from Jakob Nielsen shows that in most cases you only need to test with 5 users to find around 75% of the usability problems. With the Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) method you can set up tasks for users to test and record on your website. Afterwards you can ask the users some questions about their actions, while watching the recording with them. The RTA method is especially useful with eye-tracking, but you can also just use it when recording a screen.
This requires more effort and time than watching recording in Hotjar or Inspectlet, but it will definitely give you some very helpful insights. Here's an helpful article from Tobii about RTA: http://acuity-ets.com/downloads/RTA%20usability%20guidelines%20short%20paper.pdf
One thing I can suggest is to place your most popular/sold product on the first row. So they are always above the page fold and easier for your users to find without scrolling.

Another vote for HotJar. Great for a free tool.
It's always going to be awkward to get critique in any forums but here is some required reading that could help give you some pointers. If nothing else, you will be able to draw comparisons between what you have done and what has worked for others.

I don't have any specific recommendations based on the current design of the site however I do have a tool I want to recommend that could help. I recently came across a neat free tool called hot jar which has built in heatmaps, scroll maps, click maps etc. It even records user sessions so you can see how your shoppers are engaging with your site. I recommend you check it out and see what nuggets you can uncover with it.

Google Ecommerce Tracking
Hey all, I have GTM set up on a site and I am trying to enable the Ecommerce tracking functionality. My problem is this, I have access to the basket variables all they way through the checkout funnel to the payment page, but they are then lost on the payment completed page. Does anyone know how I can pass the value of the basket across to the payment completed page so I can mark the transaction completed with an actual value present. I cannot post hidden input fields or change the url get variables as the third party system that us used fails. I have thought maybe javascript calls, but not managed to get to work as yet. Can the Google session pass and hold them in the cookies that are set? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Tim

Google Merchant/ Googlebase Images at top of SERPS
Hi We are based in the UK and the new merchant rules have recently been applied here. We offer free shipping but now most of our click throughs come from the images at the top of the SERPS that simply give an image and a price. The prices do not include shipping and there's no indication to the user that shipping is included. Hence our conversion rate from PPC is way down. Is there any way to counter this or do we just need to go back to charging for shipping? Thanks!

Conversion Suggestions or Ideas
Late last year we did an overhaul of our website. We didn't change we did or what we sell just the format and overall look. What used to work for Adwords and Adcenter conversions doesn't seem to work as well on the new site. Any suggestions on where I should start to turn this around?

UX Design: Do Directional Cues Help?
Hi, Bit of a different subject really to the usual SEO chat but as most of you know UX/CRO fits in nicely with SEO. For those of you who know about directional cues, what are your experiences with them, what types of directional cues worked best for you? And has anyone had any positive experiences with cues and social buttons? For those who are not sure what directional cues are: http://www.ioninteractive.com/post-click-marketing-blog/2010/11/19/how-to-use-design-to-form-directional-cues-on-landing-pages.html Thanks

Low conversion rate, high ticket item... but not THAT high
Oh great mozzers, I fall at your feet... I feel like I'm going insane... My client, 35 Degrees (http://35DegreesSteaks.com) is quite the mystery. I handle SEO and paid search for them, and we're doing great in those areas... however, we're just not seeing the conversions once I deliver these folks to the site. The people are targeted, the keywords are sound, and from what I can see, the checkout process isn't a mess... but they are just not getting the sales. We're currently starting to test some price points with some newer, lower cost "intro packages", so we'll see if that's one of the pain points. I'm also in the process of convincing them to include a Verisign or some other logo in the checkout process. However, I was hoping the great minds here could take a quick look and see if I'm missing anything else. Thanks in advance! Jeff

How accurate is the Geo-Targeting of Google and Bing/Yahoo PPC ads?
I have a client who serves a local market and who has had trouble in the past with people out of her service area clicking on ads. She asked how accurate the geo-targeting option is. I know it's not possible to be completely accurate resolving the location of IP addresses, but was wondering if there are any recent statistics out there regarding how accurate or inaccurate geo-targeting is. I did some quick searches but did not see any current numbers. Many Thanks!

Landing Page Conversion
Hi, I'm having a few issues with my landing page conversion. I have followed several guides found on this site (especially the unbounce.com ones) but what'ever I try my landing page CRO doesn't seem to increase. the landing page in question is http://www.drivingtestnow.co.uk/find-driving-test-cancellations. I'm getting traffic to my landing page solely through PPC traffic from Google. My stats are rough as follows: Arrive at landing page - 100% (obviously)

Click through to buy now page - 15-20%
Actually complete the buy now process - 1% Conversion from organic traffic landing directly on the homepage at http://www.drivingtestnow.co.uk is having a conversion rate of about 5%. It seems odd to me that my highly targeted ad campaign and landing page are convertign so badly compared to the less atrgeted organic search traffic and homepage. Have you got any ideas why this might be occurring and also any tips on how I can improve the conversion rate for my product? Gary...0
