Global or Local

Hi,
Our company has a .com website which we target various countries from. Its a young company with little or no SEO pedigree, and under 50 external links. We dont rank highly for anything except the company name.
Here is the company website: www.pulse-advertising.com
We are now expanding in the UK and I was wondering if we should be owning the .co.uk website and targeting that or should we continue with a .com url and try and localise it (UK address, phone number, etc).
Finally, if you do suggest that we stick to .com, would you recommend we buy the local urls (.co.uk, .de, etc) and then put a redirect 301?
Please suggest.
Thanks!

Hi,
I had a website with .com and target market was UK. Site performs well in .com but when I got .co.uk website conversion goes up. As you mentioned above that very little SEO work has done on current website I would suggest you to get .co.uk domain and no need to use 301 redirect in your case ("Its a young company with little or no SEO pedigree, and under 50 external links.).
My suggestion is purely based on my experience.
Thanks

Best way to optimize a website for local search today?
A real estate agent client has had a website for years, which he optimized to position himself as a national real estate expert (to get more TV and media exposure). Now he wants to be found for a more local real estate term, such as Westchester ny real estate. Should he add a page to his site that's focused on Westchester real estate, or would Google view that as spammy? Should he update older blog posts with relevant, useful content about Westchester? Any best practices and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Big shift in local results with Penguin 2.0?
Is anyone else seeing a big shift in local results since Penguin 2.0. I am logged out of Google, all personalisation switched off but my results are being personalised to my location for all results, not just Google+ Local results? I'm pretty sure penguin is bigger than 2.3% of queries or whatever was reported..

Global Meta Data and Titles
I am working on an e-commerce website with Volusion. I have 1 main keyword that I am really trying to focus on for my home page. Last week I was in position #7 for this keyword, and I have never been off the first page of Google for it. Using Volusion you can Globally set a Title and meta description for any pages that do not already have a title or description. I noticed my Global title had the same keyword as I was using for my home page and thought that, that might be taking away some importance from my keyword, so I changed the Global Title to a different keyword. When I looked at my SEO moz rankings today, which crawled last night it said My keyword was #24 on Google. I checked and as of now I am in position #11. Like I said before, I have never not been on the first page for this keyword. Does anyone think that changing the Global title may have been the cause for this??

Targeting local keywords and service areas.
Hi, I run a small photo booth rental business in San Francisco, CA that serves the greater Bay Area. I've created different webpages for each location that we serve, ie: "San Francisco Photo Booth", "Oakland Photo Booth", "San Jose Photo Booth", etc.... I'm assuming that for each city, the strongest keyword would be "City-Photo Booth". However, I also want to target different variations of the keyword, such as: San Francisco Photo Booth: -Photo Booth San Francisco -SF Photo Booth -San Francisco Photobooth -San Francisco, CA Photo Booth -etc.... Will adding these keywords onto the same webpage dilute the relevance of my main keyword "San Francisco Photo Booth"? Also, is there any way to place these words within the text of the webpage so that it does not sound akward and unnatural to the reader? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Nofollow in global navigation?
Currently planning our site architecture and little confused over the management of our global navigation To benefit from the maximum link juice to our 50-100 most important pages we are going to incorporate links to these from our homepage as part of the global navigation. Now I understand we want nice, flat architecture; however; on these sub pages we may one day want to place another 100 of so links on these to another category level. The problem I see arising is if we already have a bunch of links as part of our global navigation we are going to dilute the links on any sub category pages. Now Im guessing the solution to is nofollow the global navigation on all pages other than the homepage? or do the bots recognize a global navigation as such and is able to handle this issue already? Thanks for everyones help.

Creating Content for Several Local Keywords
I have a client who is in the lead generation business for a specific aesthetic service. The company basically generates leads through SEO and sells them to hundreds of local businesses across the US and Canada. There is some serious competition for the main service keyword (this is not the real keyword) e.g. “liposuction” and over the past year we have seen rankings fall significantly (from top 3 to 13-15). But... what I have found is that most of the traffic, particularly the highly converting traffic, comes from local keyword variations e.g. “liposuction in san diego”. However, these keywords are also highly competitive because there are several local businesses in these areas. How would you suggest creating content for these pages when they are all extremely similar and we need to target 100s of cities? For example the page “liposuction in san diego” is very similar to the page “liposuction in sacramento”, ect ect. Thanks for the help!

Do Schema.org changes impact local SEO
I've reviewed the various presentation and blog posts from SMX advanced regarding local SEO and I didn't see any mention of Schema.org and microformats. Has any research or case studies been presented supporting that implementation of Schema.org microformats will improve local results? Here is one example where I've implemented the basics in the address info of the footer. http://bit.ly/lZQYeg Any tips on how to further optimize with schema.org markup?
