Brand or company name
-
Hello
Let s' say i am working for a multiservice company , sort of general contractor. We have a website using company name . Myccompany.com
I ve been asked to make a new website owned by the same company but specific to the multisites multitechnic maintenance activity , which has beeger clients with specific needs
seo wise, is it better to call the seconde site myccompany-maintenance.com or to give a brand to the activity and call it let's say newcompany.com (by myccompany )
I would go for the second solution to avoid confusion in the the serp ? is it good to reuse the brand in domains ? ( small company )
I hope my question is clear I l listen to any advice , tks !

On our website, we readily mention our company name, that is Kingsley, as we want people to be able to find our fencing company online, via our business name

Hello
Thanks AL123al, James and Nigel for your valuable anwsers. I am going to review the situation with point of views . I ll write down a comment as soon as the decision is made

I would go back to them and ask them why they wouldn't just add a section to their existing website to cover the new multisites multitechnic maintenance activity.
Option 1
If you use a sub domain or a concatenation of it as you have shown with the hyphen it simply looks bad from a URL perspective. One could argue that visually it is very spammy. Remember in the not too distant past you would have domains like www.the-best-maintenance-contractor.com (I made that up!) ? - It just looks unprofessional.
Option 2
The second option - to set up a new brand involves much more than just buying a new domain. There is a whole host of branding issues and SEO problems to consider:
No Domain Authority
New Logo
New Stationery
New Socials
New Email Addresses
New Google Tools etc etc etcPlus the fact that a new brand name and URL can take a year to properly proliferate and find its optimum position in Google. You would effectively be starting from scratch.
Option 3
My preference in this case would be to use a folder for the new activity vis:
Then use sub categories of that.
myccompany.com/maintenance/activity1
myccompany.com/maintenance/activity2etc
This will achieve much better results in SERPS as the company already exists and presumably already has Domain Authority.
You just need to tell them.
I hope that helps

Hi,
My preference would be the second i.e. a newcompany.com. In fact one of my clients has this scenario. The first company can link to the second and give it some authority. If it is a separate activity not related to the first company I would suggest a new brand. However, a new "company" would need to be distinct from the first company in order for Google not to lump them together. So a different address (if possible) and certainly phone number, social accounts etc.

Brand Name Keyword Stuffing
I'm targeting Roho Cushions and the category page has many products starting with Roho underneath it. I know the keyword "Roho" shows up at least 70 times. I'm not targeting the keyword Roho, but could this negatively effect the rest of my keywords that start with Roho, such as "Roho Wheelchair Cushions"?

Two domains, a .ca and .com, for one company
Hey we are looking for some advice on this. We have two online shopping carts, a .ca and .com for our Canadian and American customers. The information on both is obviously very similar in both content and display, with just pricing, shipping information etc. being different. Does anyone have any feedback regarding how Google would view this? The domains are the same, ie. walmart.com and walmart.ca so would Google recognize this and not penalize us for having two identical sites or would it be penalizing us and should we be going about this in a different manner? Thanks!

Domain name selection + Branding
Hello All, Would like to understand the relation between selecting a domain name and the branding of ones organization. Recently a friend came upto me and asked as to how he could select his domain name so that factors like seo visibility and uniqueness fall into place correctly. Is there some website which could permutate / combine few keywords and suggest domain names. Also help in deciding whether selecting that domain name would be advantegous over other or not. Common names like cart , food, vacation etc if names formed keeping these in between as domain names could cause issues where in a lot of influential names could pop up on the searches and make your domain irrelavant. Any ideas how to overcome this problem

Advanced Domain Name Search Service
Hi guys, I'm looking for a clever domain name search service. I want to provide a list of keywords and the site will return with available .com domains relating to my search. An example - I work in the tourism niche and I want to find available travel related .com domains for about 50 locations. I provide a list of words such as "travel", "visit", "goto", "holidays", and I provide a second list with all the locations, example "London", "Paris,", "Berlin", etc... The domain search tool would then mix up my two lists of keywords and check to see if variants such as travellondon.com, londonholidays.com, gotoberlin.com, etc... are free to register. I then go off and buy those domains and have some epic wins. Does this tool exist?

Switching Domain Names
I own two domain names, smallbusinessdoer.com and smallbizdoer.com. I set up my site at smallbusinessdoer.com. Initially I wanted to keep the full "business" in the domain name as I thought it would be good for SEO. I'm now thinking it would be a lot better to have a shorter domain and I do own the smallbizdoer.com domain (which is currently forwarding to smallbusinessdoer.com). If I flip that around, forward smallbusinessdoer.com with a 301 redirect to smallbizdoer.com, what are the implications? How long will I lose link juice with the 301 redirects? Does shortening business to biz help for URL length or usability? Thanks for any input!

How do you do Keyword Research for a company that creates a lot of content
I work for a media company that owns 4 magazines. Our company is constantly producing new content. How do you do Keyword Research when the subject of your content is constantly changing? Do you need to do Keyword Research or do you simply optimize every article that you write for the web? Any ideas?
