How to use Rich Snippets?
-
Hi there!
I have been hearing a lot about Rich Snippets lately but I don't really know how they work. Are they a very important factor to consider for SEO?
I would love to know your thoughts about this.
Thanks!

Hi Lucía, Moz's very own Britney Muller has created a 3-part Whiteboard Friday series about using rich snippets. I think you'd find it really helpful! If you check it out, let us know.
Thanks!

They are important and can add some great markup to your site on Google.
I would look into Schema Markup, that is how you can help search engines with your rich snippets.

Hi!
There are certainly a lot of benefits in the good use of Rich Snippets. The first one is that you can impact the appearance of your search listings, for example: the presence of the stars in the search listing will tend to draw the human eye and increase the click-through rate for those results.
I would definitely recommend you to use them

Use of rel="alternate" hreflang="x"
Google states that use of rel="alternate" hreflang="x" is recommended when: You translate only the template of your page, such as the navigation and footer, and keep the main content in a single language. This is common on pages that feature user-generated content, like a forum post. Your pages have broadly similar content within a single language, but the content has small regional variations. For example, you might have English-language content targeted at readers in the US, GB, and Ireland. Your site content is fully translated. For example, you have both German and English versions of each page. Does this mean that if I write new content in different language for a website hosted on my sub-domain, I should not use this tag? How to use my time: Make my site bigger or make link wheels?
I have a site which consist of about 500 pages. It's the biggest of it's tiny niche, and I'm making a livin' out of it (it gets me clients). So this is important to me. I have access to tons and tons of non-copyrighted relevant texts. This text is not on the www, and thus would be unique to google. All though the text is relevant, it's not really useful for my visitors. How to use this text and get the most of my time spent? 1. Making thousands of articles on my website, with internal linking to the "selling" keyword pages? 2. Use text to make a lot of link wheels - eventually linking to my main site? Thanx a bunch! 😃 And if you have other suggestions I'd love to hear'em out 😃

Canonical & noindex? Use together
For duplicate pages created by the "print" function, seomoz says its better to use noindex (http://www.seomoz.org/blog/complete-guide-to-rel-canonical-how-to-and-why-not) and JohnMu says its better to use canonical http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=6c18b666a552585d&hl=en What do you think?

Would using display:none; to hide a section of text effect SEO negatively?
I have seen several sites that put a div feature at the bottom of a page to hide content. If you click on the button, it will extend the page down and be loaded with paragraphs of text rich with keywords. Does anyone know is this is viewed as a negative with Google?

DCMI and Google's rich snippets
I haven't seen any consistent information regarding DCMI tags for organic SEO in a couple of years. Webmaster Tools obviously has a rich set of instructions for microdata. Has there been any updated testing on DCMI or information above the whisper/rumor stage on whether engines will be using Dublin? As a final point, would it be worth going back to static pages that haven't been touched in a couple of years and updating them with microdata? It seems a natural for retail sites and maybe some others, but what about content heavy pages?
