Can images with a company logo get included on featured snippets?
-
I haven't seen this much but wondered what do you think?
-
This is also relevant to knowledge-graph boxes and the images which Google compiles into those. Not quite the same thing as the featured snippets but still pretty neat
Typically it's a good one for industrial materials or chemical compounds, e.g:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Poly%28methyl+2-methylpropenoate%29
https://d.pr/i/lQLl1v.png (screenshot)
or
https://www.google.com/search?q=polyethylene
https://d.pr/i/HwWXoc.png (screenshot)
... there are lots of 'material' based knowledge graph entries, which pull images from other sites in, in order to build up a good view of what the material is. Some people actually find the images from their sites which Google injects, and edit them to use a small and unobtrusive watermark (the trick is not to get too greedy, or Google notices and replaces the image from your site with an image from another site!)
Obviously where branded products and compounds / materials converge, it's easier to get some branding showing in the tiny little images:
https://www.google.com/search?q=cbd+oil
https://d.pr/i/jLn5uQ.png (screenshot)
A lot of these actually come through Google's image search results
You don't see so many successful injections in this particular area, these days though
This one is quite a neat example:

and this one also:

... bit of free advertising for BirdsEye and Green Giant there

We use a copyright mark and our domain name in a light gray font, positioned in the bottom corner of most images. The copyright mark and domain are scaled to be readable after Google shrinks/crops them down to the large featured snippet image size. These large featured snippet images are usually about 200x150, so we do some testing to be sure that the font size used and the placement will be legible and not cropped off.

Company Name in Home Page Title? If and Where?
My guess is you want to do the {title} | {company name} format as I would suspect Google gives slightly more weight to the words at the beginning of the title? (This is assuming your company name isn't a generic word or you are specifically trying to rank your home page for your company name when it isn't ranking well already) But what about cases where you have like 5 or 6 keywords that are really important and used in the title gives you like 50 characters and your company name pushed it up to like 65 increasing the chance Google will use some other source to list the name of your home page in the search results? Obviously one can experiment, but wondering what the general consensus is - long keyword title, or longer title with company name? The company name can be included in the meta description and the domain name of the url displayed also gives the indication to the company. But maybe the algo "respects" long itles that have company name more than ones without as then it looks more like a keyword stuffing title? So many factors to consider. Yes - on page SEO isn't just about the title, but for this thread I'm just talking home page title.

SITEMAP - Does <changefreq>and <image:title>have any apreciable effect?</image:title></changefreq>
Hi everyone. It was hard to find some actual evidence that some of the atributes to be declared in a sitemap have some real impact.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Gaston Riera
Particularly, im interested in these two: <changefreq></changefreq> and**image:title</image:title>** I've used them in a few cases just to check their effect and couldnt see any.
Do you have any experience with these? Or any other atribute that might be helpful, in order to create a more accurate and effective sitemap? Also, this could be a great topic to create a new Moz Blog post, the one about sitemap is 8years old.0 -
Can you canonical your homepage to a different URL on the same domain?
I would like to know if it is acceptable (or even possible from Google's standpoint) to canonical your homepage to a different URL on the same domain? For example, my homepage is www.grasscare.com (it's not) and I've built links to that page for years for terms like "grass seed" and "buy grass seed" because all I sold in the past was grass seed. If I then decide I want to sell both grass seed and sod, can I canonical my homepage (grasscare.com) to a new URL www.grasscare.com/grasss-seed.html to preserve the link value I've built up for "grass seed"?The new homepage would turn into a doorway page of sorts, forcing users to select either grass seed or sod before going further. Whatever content there is on the new homepage about grass seed would also be present on grasscare.com/grass-seed.html, though it would only be a small amount of content. Can a canonical be used to point the homepage to this new page and also, will this canonical pass all of the link value and ranking signals it help in the past to the new URL? Thank you in advance for any help or insight.

Star ratings in rich snippets not displaying
Hi all, I have a site where star ratings are being used in rich snippets. Up until about 8 weeks ago these were displaying in SERPs as normal. They have since stopped being displayed in SERPs even though Google's Rich Snippets testing tool says that the markup is correct and they display within the test tool environment. I'm just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem and if there's a solution? Thanks, Elias

Are we being Penalized? Can someone Assess Please!
We have two eCommerce sites. Both the sites can broadly be divided into 3 pages 1. Home Page. 2. Detail Page. 3 Category Pages (Altogether our site has approx 3 Million pages each) These are the site URLs http://bit.ly/9tRZIi - This is targeted for USA Audience http://bit.ly/P8MxPR - This is targeted for UK audience The .com domain which was launched earlier in 2011 is doing okay with decent organic traffic Precautions Taken: To avoid content being duplicate on both the sites we are using: a. Geo-targeting through Google webmaster tools b. rel=alternate tag on printsasia.co.uk Problem 1. The .co.uk domain which was launched in May 2012 started gaining organic traffic slowly but then suddenly dropped to almost 0 after September 18. 2. When we use operator site:printsasia.co.uk and apply a filter on past week/month we don't see any result. While when same operator used for "any time" we see some results. 3. According to webmaster tool, Google has indexed 95% of our URLs in the sitemap Our concern: Is our UK site penalized for some reasons? If yes, what could be the possible reason(s) for this penalty and possible steps to get out of it? Would request if experts here can review our site and help us.

Can your site be penalized for changing the url structure and if so how long till you get back?
I'm doing well on yahoo and bing and the only reason I can think of for why I'm not showing on Google is because I changed the url structure a couple of months ago. I have solid on and off page done for this site.
