Time lag to see effect on rankings after a good optimization
-
Once you do an optimise / make some (hopefully positive!) changes to pages re keywords etc - how long does it take for you to move up the rankings - if indeed you do actually move up...
I made some changes last week and see some slight movement this monday - can I expect more of a movement over a period of a few weeks? Or does it take longer?
Maybe tricky question to answer but hopefully you know what I mean...
-
In addition to Dan's answer remember just because Google has seen the changes and taken them into consideration there is no guarantee that your rankings will improve.
It can take months of optimising and tweaking to get improvements. One of my old sites took 6 months tweaking and steadily climbing the rankings until it got to number 1 for its main keyphrases - it has been there for a few years now though

I hate to always say it but it depends. Google may crawl your site all of once a month. If that's the case, it will take a month or so until you get updated in the index. If you are frequently crawled, then you should get updated in the index much sooner.
You will also only increase in ranking if your site is not penalized. All the optimization in the world won't help a penalized site.
Check your listing in Google and see if it reflects the changes you made. If so, Google likely knows of the changes and within a week you will move around in the SERPs. If Google hasn't indexed your changes, well, it will be as long as it takes until they do.

How can i get a higher ranking
Hey All, As a rookie on SEO, I optimised this page http://www.nhad.de/fernstudium/sprachkurse/arabisch/sprachkurse-arabisch/arabisch.aspx for the keywords Arabisch lernen. I saw a huge improvement from position 100+ to position 45. but now it's stuck around this position. Are there any things I missed on this page? Are there still things to increase the ranking? I hope to learn from you. thanks in advance!

Does anyone have any experience with Instart Logic, and its effects (if any) on SEO?
Instart Logic is a content delivery network CDN, which claims to have a positive effect on time to first bite (TTFB). Faster site = good for SEO, right? Our initial investigation seems to confirm its claims to some degree, which is great, but at the same time we think it may lower our score on Google's PageSpeed Insights tool, which sort of negates its effect in other areas. If the user experience is worse (according to Google's own tool), are we effectively shooting ourselves in the foot by concentrating on TTFB as a ranking algorithm factor? Site update and what to do about current keyword rank
Hi im in the process of giving my site a major update as its only one page and not responsive . The the new site will have a homepage with a list of my services with a small description of each and each service will link to its own page. My one page site at the moment ranks number one in my area for a low competition keyword (moz keyword score of 13%) of course this sends me very little traffic. With my new site im also going for more keywords but these will be Moz KWD 30% and 40%. I know this will be quite hard and take some time but i'm pretty sure I know what I need to do to get there. Now my question is what do i do with my current home page (only page) that ranks for that low comp keyword?

Tips for Getting a Very Small Site to Rank
I am working on a very small (two page) site for a client, and trying to rank for some very competitive local terms. The site is www.arlingtonbuilders.com, and our terms center around local cities (like Arlington) plus "custom homes," "custom renovations," etc. I feel very limited in terms of what I can do on the site, and I'm building citations offsite, but I feel stuck. I'd love some tips for helping them rank better without building out an entire site.

Jobs listing page optimization
I've a client with a jobs page. I've found that a high traffic, low competition keyword phrase 'OH jobs' and wish to optimize appropriately. The trouble is that there is hardly any body text and any number of job entry listing. As the listing which all go to individual job description pages, naturally fit the description (part description) OH Job - would it be good to use this description within the anchor text of the links? If so is there a maximum? I've been trawling around SEOmoz and Google Search and have got more and more bogged down! ta

Best Way To Host Images For Image Optimization
I need an image optimization expert to tell me whether or not we are hosting images properly for SEO. Currently, we upload all images to Picasa and then call them out with a webpart in our content management system. See example here - http://www.tennisnow.com/Photos/2011-BNP-Paribas-Open-Day-5.aspx Here's an example of the url that is attached to each image - http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1Oyc-Zgkrpk/TX5H-Pfyd7I/AAAAAAAARbc/nG3Cw-G5tsY/s400/1215548409_FU9xA-L.jpg We have a lot of images, and we've hosted them on Picasa for speed purposes based on a recommendation from our developer (makes the pages load faster). I've read that Google can now factor page load time into its ranking parameters. We are not seeing the images from each photo gallery being indexed on images.google.com. We are torn. What should we do to rank for these images?
