Buying a new domain
-
Hello guys!
We are in process of buying a new domain. How can we be sure that this domain is not blacklisted and are there any steps to take in order to be sure that whatever we are buying is actually in "good shape"?
Thanks much!
-
Hmmm... the only info I found about the domain I want to purchase is this:
Registrar History: 6 registrars with 3 drops NS History: 11 changes on 7 unique name servers over 6 years IP History: 21 changes on 14 unique name servers over 7 years
Can this be a red flag?
On archive.org I could not find this website at all, but neither mine... which is not flagged... is archive.org accurate? Thanks!

To add to this great advice... Per Matt Cutts any Domain that has requested not to be included in the archive.org throws up red flags.

Thanks for your responses.
I could not find any information about the website I am about to buy. No back-links, not indexed, no history on archive.org... But on domaintools.com I found the following info:Registrar History: 6 registrars with 3 drops NS History: 11 changes on 7 unique name servers over 6 years IP History: 21 changes on 14 unique name servers over 7 years
Should I be concerned about any of these?

If you are spending serious money for the domain you might want to read this post... http://www.seomoz.org/blog/ten-tips-for-buying-a-website

Echo1,
I would go to archive.org and see the website history and look if there is anything not normal with the site (porn, viagra, others)
In case you entered and purchased a domain with a penalty on it, i would submit a reconsideration request with google, explaining your situation

Using one domain for email and another domain for your website, but redirects...
Hello - We are rebranding and our new name is fairly lengthy. We own all main domain versions of our brand name - .com, .new and .org - There is a very high search volume for the new brand name as it is a merger of 2 popular existing brands so want to take advantage of that and use our full name within our website domain name. However, since the name is a little long as mentioned - 25 characters - we also own the 3 character acronym of the new brand so we are debating on using the acronym for our new email addresses. ie name@abc.com so it is user friendly. We would obviously redirect the acronym email domain to point to the longer website domain. Are there any negative SEO effects if we do that? Use the longer domain for the website and shorter acronym for our email? Thank you

Spam flags for sub-domain
Hi Moz Community, I am reviewing our website via MOZ and found the following issues: http://shopwindowcleaningresource.com/ 1. No Contact (please refer to the attached image). However, we have an up to date contact info on our website. We have social buttons at the footer, our telephone number is at the top and we have a contact us page. Any idea, why we are being rated as such and how to resolve it? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. 327M9Fc

Selling Domain,,,,, OOOOPPPPPPsssss!
Hey Everyone, I think I may have screwed up big time. I have an old 4 letter domain that I've been sitting on for many years. I had no idea what it was worth and ended up putting it up on ebay. I have since been told that it's quite valuable. I just tried to end the auction and ebay won't let me end it. My thinking is that someone here may want to take advantage of my mistake. Even better, let me know if there are any tricks to ending the auction. The domain is http://proa.com If for some reason it doesn't sell, where is a good place to sell it at a fair price? Have a good one. David

Block a sub-domain from being indexed
This is a pretty quick and simple (i'm hoping) question. What is the best way to completely block a sub domain from getting indexed from all search engines? One item i cannot use is the meta "no follow" tag. Thanks! - Kyle

Sub Domain SEO
I am thinking to Add Sub Domains to get better rankings for Local Searches. So I will develop City Specific Sites with Specific Language. For Example qatar.wisnetsol.com. IT will be in Arabic. If my Good standing and Ranking on Google for wisnetsol.com will help my subdomain to rank better? if we setup wisnetsol.com/qatar, how it can target Qatar in Google Webmaster tools? Will links for qatar.wisnetsol.com and wisnetsol.com are seprate? What do you think about this strategy? Is it good or bad?
