Question about 302 re-direct

Hi,

I have noticed a competitor of mine is using 302 redirects to his website. It seems to me that he is buying a huge amout of domains and linking to his own website though this. I have never noticed anyone else do this before and wondered what people's views are on this?

Maybe they are doing this for domain traffic only and trying to stay safe for SEO. Otherwise they could be onto something I am not aware of! Any chance of seeing the website?

Let's say I want to write a guest post for a website that is relevant to my website. Should i guest post on a website with high traffic but the traffic country is not mine? (eg// My website sells products in Canada only, should i guest post on a high traffic site from India?) Citation, Google Plus and SEO questions

Hi, I have a website www.gemslearninginstitute.com. We offer different after school programs for kids located in Canada. I have a very basic knowledge of SEO. I have a few questions. Just wondering if someone can please help me. We offer UCMAS Mental Math Program, Tutoring and Chess School/Coaching and runs a Chess Club. I would like to boost my google ranking and get more local traffic. 1- My citation is not consistent. Which program should I use to correct the citation and delete duplicate or inconsistent listing automatically. 2 - Should I do the citation with my company name only “GEMS Learning Institute” or Should I do like this “GEMS learning Institute – UCMAS-Tutoring-Chess”. Which one is better? 3- Right now I have two different google plus business pages. One with the name of “GEMS Learning Institute” and the second one is UCMAS. Should I have only one page as GEMS and delete the UCMAS. 4- I am not sure how to check if my site is penalized by google. 5- How can I measure things which are working on not? Can you please recommend next steps should I take after doing citation to improve the ranking? Thanks in advance and appreciate help.

Guest Blogging Question? How many links in an article?

I am being offered by a blog to have more than 5 links in an article that points directly to our money sites. The blog is in the same niche. This is the first time i am being offered more than 2-3 links in an article. Should i do it? How many links should be in an article so not to be penalized by Google? Does it look unnatural to have more links in an article that points to the same site but different pages? Thanks

I know its a silly question. but how do i get the best backlinks.

I am new to seo. Every where i see seo people are talking about nearly all the links are bad. I have read everything but cant seem to figure out how to get good backlinks. And what kind of backlinks will actually help my site. I used blackhat stuff in past that really made my life miserable. if you know what i mean. can someone guide me personaly 😛 . (kidding) i know you guys are very busy . but if you could may be tell me which direction to go , it will put a smile on my face.

Beginners question about co-location/citation

Hi, could any fellow users lend me their experience please, I feel I may have confused myself!! Cut a long story short, one of the seo techniques I (like many here) employ is guest authority for sites. This is done through a manual process on quality sites. However, many sites are panicking now about Google and are nofollowing the author link back to my site. While the guest blogging wasn't done exclusively for links, a backlink is always nice. This got me onto the topic of co citation. From what I understand, it is essentially google rewarding you but without giving you back link credit. This is no the area where I have confused myself...am i right in thinking that if my brand is talked about in content on a quality site about Internet Security, then google can see the mention of my brand and will still award me some benefit from. To gain said benefit from the content is it enough that my brand is mentioned, for example 'Brand X published a paper about keeping kids safe online in 2013' or would the brand x thing need to be an active link to my site (no follow). Does this make sense? I did warn that i have managed to confuse myself hehe Many thanks for firstly talking the time to work out what on earth I have written and for any feedback offered.

Backlink question

Hi all. Here's the scenario. There is a company who provide financial services to their online clients. On ALL their clients sites they have a "payments-by-us" style logo with backlink to their homepage domain name. This means they have over 3,000 links from a multitude of non-related websites - with just 3 or 4 anchor text keywords in these backlinks. No surprise they have been hit by Penguin My questions What it the best practice for these type of linking LOGO's. Should they link to a dedicated page,and NOT the homepage? Should they have branded + anchor text, no text, or just branded? or a combination of each Should they even be a link at all as they are coming from such a diverse group of sites? I understand how Penguin penalises for overuse of money word keywords as anchor text. This is something that has definitely happened here (by the bucket load) ... Assume the anchor text is "Green Chips Finance" and that phrase is also overused and a bit "stuffy" in their homepage. Here's my question - could simply lowering the prominence / significance of "Green Chips Finance" on the actual home page, help in reducing the impact of the damage caused by the thousands of backlinks with "Green Chips Finance" as the anchor text? I say this as they have a similar number of back links saying "Red Chips Finance", but there is no mention of "Red Chips Finance" on their homepage other than in the keywords and a couple of standard text mentions (no H1, H2, alt text etc) ... interestingly, "Red Chips Finance" (not the real words) is Google No1 whereas "Green Chips Finance" has been demoted from longtime No1 to about 4. Can high SERPS and/or social signals minimize Google penalties and a back linking removal question

As I am continually sizing up my competition in the SERPS I have scanned their sites with a fine tooth and comb. I have found that these sites practice in the very things that I have practiced in the past and have removed thinking that may be some of the reasons I was hit with Penguin. Some of these factors are: Link Scheme with sites they own (C Blocks) Content for Search Engines (Keyword rich text) Exact anchor text in back linking profile Yet even though my competition practices in these methods (One site even places exact anchor text in the footer and header of every page for one of their other forum site) they seem to have not even been touched with any of the recent updates. In fact it seems their ranking have increased. In scanning these sites the only major difference that I have been able to see between them and I is that their SERPS are higher than mine and they have way more social signals than me. One site has about 73k facebook likes where I only have about 300. My question is Can Google ignore penalties for sites that have higher SERPS and /or social signals that would effect another site that had lower ones? My other question is related to back links My main site has links from another site I built a long time ago (Pre SEO and not knowing what I was doing) somewhere in the 73k range. Obviously a HUGE signal to Google that this might be spam and I am aware. I have removed the links from that site but unfortunately the average crawl rate per day is very low so it is taking a very long time for Google to find those pages and re-crawl them to find the links gone. Since that site I have than has those links pointing to my main site has very low traffic I am totally willing to kill that entire site with a 404. Can this help speed up the removal of those links from that site? I figure since the site no longer exists all links from that site will be removed almost immediately from my main site. Any thoughts?

Ranking above Auth domains question?

Hi, How difficult would it be to rank a new page above the likes of Wiki, About, Squidoo etc? I have a keyword I would like rank but most of the domains on first page are the likes of the above, wiki, about, squidoo etc. The pages themselves dont have a high Page Auth its just the root domain. Will it still be very hard to rank above these types of sites? Cheers
