Blog content on homepage - Dupe Content Penalty?

Hi All,
I am working on a website which has a blog at domain.com/blog/
On the homepage they are currently looping the latest 5 blog posts in a 'Latest News' tab.
Is this therefore classed as dupe content, and would this be penalized by Google?
Should I recommend they use the excerpts instead of full articles and simply loop the excerpts on the homepage?
The website is built on WordPress.

I discovered recently that you can control the blog page appearance in your profile settings, and view just snippets if you'd like for the SEOmoz and YOUmoz blog pages. I prefer the snippets myself. I haven't gone geeky and looked at how it's presented to the bots.

Also, the short snippets will be easy for visitors to scan and select what they would like to read. If you have an active blog this might be a good option.
The SEOMoz blog homepage is an example. The posts are so very rich and lengthy and that makes the blog homepage really really really long. Is that good or not?
If a person visits that page once a week it can take a lot of scrolling to pick the items that he wants to read. Now, it surely is impressive and that might attract links but is not user friendly.

There is no way you will be penalised. You would however potentially confuse search engines as to who the content originator is and delay the ranking for the intended page. So as EGOL says it's best to use short snippets on the home page that lead to the full blog post.

I would not publish full post content at domain.com/index.html and domain.com/blog/index.html
I would publish a short excerpt on domain.com/index.html

Duplicate Content
When I say duplicate content, I don't mean that the content on a clients site is displaying on another site on the web or taken from a site on the web. A client has a few product pages and each product page has content on the bottom of the page (4-5 paragraphs) describing the product. Now, this content is also displaying on other pages, but re-worded so it's not 100% duplicate. Some pages show a duplicate content % ranging from 12% to 35% and maybe 40%. Just curious if I should suggest having each product page less than 10% duplicated. Thanks for your help.

Is this blog running on the Genesis Framework?
Hi all, WordPress isn't my area of specialty in terms of themes and identifying what a blog might currently be using. Here's the link: http://www.pens.com/blog I've had one developer tell me this blog is on the Genesis framework and another one told me it is not. Can someone weigh in here and also give me some tips on how to know one way or the other? If it is not on the Genesis Framework, can you provide any helpful links/tutorials on how to get this blog onto the Genesis Framework? We want to be able to use Yoast SEO and apparently our current theme will not allow us to do so. Thanks in advance! Dana

Duplicate Content
Part of a site I am working on, features many different bags in all thicknesses colors and sizes. I'm getting an error when some pages have different content like different thicknesses. The only differences between the pages are a single digit - but in trash bags that makes it a whole different product! I can't do a canonical because it's not the same. For example: http://www.plasticplace.net/index.php?file=productdetail&iprod_id=274 and http://www.plasticplace.net/index.php?file=productdetail&iprod_id=268 Any ideas?

E-Commerce Site - Duplicate Content
We run an e-commerce site with about 250,000 SKUs. Certain items, such as a micro USB car charger, will be applicable to several different phones. Example: http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-165787-samsung-galaxy-proclaim-illusion-sch-i110-heavy-duty-car-charger.asp http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-165856-sony-xperia-ion-4g-lte-att-heavy-duty-car-charger.asp As one can imagine with so many items, unique content for each item description page can be a challenge. What would be the best way to address this on a large scale?

Duplicate content with a trailing slash /
Hi, I 've pages like this: A) www.example.com/file/ B) www.example.com/file Just two questions: Does Google see this as duplicate content? Best to 301 redirect B to A? Over Optimisation Penalty
It seems, some of my pages are being hit by over optimisation penalties. Now to figure out how to tone it down. The website is for downloading widgets. It's got many great ranks. The pages are dynamic and so titles, h1 are done via variables. At present the title + H1 are 100% match for the keyword. In addition breadcrumbs home > widgets > big widgets > big blue widgets. All of which being pretty much 100% match for target keyword. Also, in a gallery, say you're viewing "big blue widgets" there are tabs that link to "small blue widgets" and "medium blue widgets". Again using 100% match anchor text. None of this was done really for SEO. More for usability. But it appears it's recently negatively effecting SEO. After having a couple of pages, that were ranked number 1, now way at the back of the top 1,000, with un-targeted pages ranking in their place, though to a lesser rank. I am going to mix up the tag so that it doesn't match the <title>. I am going to remove the 100% match anchors in the tabs and make them just "small", "medium" and "large". <br /><br />I don't really want to touch the breadcrumbs, because Google uses those in the results and they make perfect logical sense how they're setup. <br /><br />What other changes would you suggest, to help prevent these pages being filtered? <br /><br />Thanks a lot 🙂 </p></title>

Changing page titles and google penalties?
I just recently learned that changing your page title earns you a google penalty. Unfortunately i learned this after playing around with my page titles a bit to get the most optimal page titles. Does anybody know how long this google penalty lasts? is it forever? or just temporary?
