Link Building Tactics

Without giving all of your secrets away, what are your basic link building tactics?
I'm trying to do everything legit, but man is it tough to get links from legit sites. This is the first time I've truly had to go out and build links. I am trying to partner with bloggers in my industry to post a review of our site and submitted to some of the major paid directories and stuff like that, but I'm curious to know what the pro's do.

As has been said, directories are a given (even people who are not concerned with SEO will still use directories) you will need to think outside of the box. I like to think of it more like PR, link building for me is a social aspect that involves forming relationships with website owners, bloggers, writers etc. Try to focus on establishing a 'web presence' as a whole for the website you are promoting.
I'm not sure what industry you are in but obviously some industries will be very difficult to crack on the web (eg SEO, web development, networking, business).

Linkbuilding really is the most difficult area of SEO. Directories are good, but usually does not help either. Comment on the blog, however it is somehow span when we privilege the anchor text, gives some good results. Link exchange is also dangerous, and should be done very carefully.
For more advanced strategies of linknbuilding, your site must have something to offer beyond of your products or services. Be relevant information through a good blog, or some tool to facilitate the life of your potential customer.
The best links that a website can earn, links are spontaneous, and for that you should think about strategies for users wanting to link to your website.
Think of tools. Useful content and not fully commercial. Customers like to know that the company cares about them and do not always want to profit.
Another idea would be to think of video that could be propagating or creative ideas to be shared spontaneously.
Directories, Blog, Link Exchange, etc.. Are standard. That has to be done, but the striker is getting content that is naturally linked.

Interviewing bloggers or industry leaders, guest posting on quality sites, infographics, creating great resource pages, building relationships with siteowners, writing great articles, to name a few.

Help on Link Building
Hi, Recently I've dropped two points on my Root Domain Authority for smallhope.com. Not really sure why. I've done as much on page optimisation that I can think of, but what I would really like some help on is Link Building. If this was your domain what would you do specifically and start link building. I've read a ton of stuff but I just dont seem to know a way to begin. Can you offer me any advice? I've dropped 20% in traffic in the last 8 months. Hope you can help, Adam

How much Link Building?
I'm wondering how much additional directory links to a site, on a monthly basis, would be too much, and potentially seen as too manufactured in Google's eyes. I am referring specifically to good quality, or relevant, directory links, nothing very spammy. I know there is no specific number, just wondering what the consensus is. Would a 10% monthly increase in linking root domains generally be considered too much? 5%? Thanks for your input!

Can anybody recommend a link building company for outsource?
I am about to land another fat client and it's in a highly competitive industry. While looking at the competition, it is clear to me that the competitors have an SEO link building team. Since Americans are too expensive for the budget allocated to this project, I need to outsource to India, Philippines, or some third world nation. CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD LINK BUILDING COMPANY IN A DEVELOPING NATION (EDITED: 3RD WORLD) COUNTRY?

Link Building strategy between domains I own?
I am in the somewhat unique position of owning and administering around 300 websites that each have their own unique domain names. We have a corporate website and then many individual websites for hospitals and nursing centers that we operate. My question is how would you recommend using these sites to build good incoming links between all the sites? Should I take every opportunity to find as many places to link from each site to all the other sites that are owned? Is there anything I should avoid that Google would penalize me for or discount the links all together? Sorry this is a such as long question... but wasn't sure where to start. Thanks!

Demand Media & Link Building - OMG?
When the last linkscape update happened, I saw a new incoming link from USA Today Travel. SeoMoz rates the link as a 9.5 for DA and PA is 24. The article was written by someone from Demand Media. I tried contacting the author to work out a deal. Since I did not receive a response, I investigated Demand Media myself. They are a large group of content writers. I have finished building the site and now I'm in the link building process for highly competitive keywords. My 2 Questions: I can write articles all freakin day about what I do. I NEED to build links. Should I become a freelancer for Demand Media? I don't care about the pay because I am well paid. Is there anything to be concerned about with the Panda Update? All responses are appreciated. Please give me a thumbs up if you found this question interesting (because apparently some other post says nobody gives thumbs up)

Link building companies for a short term campaign?
Hi! I am not specially good at super fast link building campaign in the UK. My company has launched a website for a special event which is going to be held in a month and I have to boost it super fast. Luckily, the 2-3 keywords we are trying to rank for are not super competitive. Would you recommend any agency which would do this? Thanks!

Link building outsource advice
I have been limping along doing link building myself for several months now. Creating relationships, asking for links, writing some articles and press. So far, decent results, but I need to take it to another level. I used SubmitEdge's 400 manual directory submission product, but still not seeing many links coming from it. So, I would like to hire an onshore SEO to help me with link building. After getting several quotes from reputable companies, I found the process very frustrating. I know this business is not about guarentees, but they all want $600-$1000 per month for a fairly open ended service. All they tell me is that they will submit to directories, social media sites, shopping sites, and some niche sites. No guarentees of how many (or what quality) of links I'll get, or even how much time they even plan to spend. Any suggestions on what I should expect? and any suggestion companies?
