TOP 3-5 SEO Blogs
-
I am wondering if you can help me start with the top three to five SEO blogs. I have been really enjoying and getting into learning more about SEO and it is becoming really fun as it becomes less overwhelming.
A few days ago there was a question about great SEO blogs. And everyone provided a great list. I bookmarked all of them, but in reality I won't be able to go through them all and really get what is being presented.
My question is what would be the best 3-5 to start with? Eventually I will go through them all but experience can help me get on the right track.
Thanks for the suggestions

In no particular order:
For a nice overview of a load of great SEO blogs, I usually start my morning with http://seo.alltop.com

Gianluca,
Thank you very much for the advice and suggestions. I will check these out.

At the end of my answer there I gave a short list of 6 blogs, one being the SEOmoz one.
The other five are:
A special mention is for the Distilled blog (and its guides) and SEOgadget
i suggest you more, because Distilled, SEOgadget and SEObook too do no publish 1 (or more) post daily, so you can check your Google Reader and alternate days/blogs depending of the publication or not of new things.

Thank you so much! Actually this is the first I have seen of the local SEO blogs which is actually where my focus is. This is very helpful.

Welcome!
Obviously it would be rude not to mention the SEOmoz blog, but you must have already found that.
I follow the following blogs, and think they are a great place to start for local SEO:
For organic SEO I tend to follow:
Best of luck, and enjoy reading up!

How important are author bios to SEO?
I'm trying to understand the importance of author bios to Google and its latest algorithms. Some say author bios affect rankings, but others say that has not been specifically stated by Google — but it does affect the user experience. Anyone have input on this? Thanks!

Anyone suspect that a site's total page count affects SEO?
I've been trying to find out the underlying reason why so many websites are ranked higher than mine despite seemingly having far worse links. I've spent a lot of time researching and have read through all the general advice about what could possibly be hurting my site's SEO, from page speed to h1 tags to broken links, and all the various on-page SEO optimization stuff....so the issue here isn't very obvious. From viewing all of my competitors, they seem to have a much higher number of web pages on their sites than mine does. My site currently has 20 pages or so and most of my competitors are well in the hundreds, so I'm wondering if this could potentially be part of the issue here. I know Google has never officially said that page number matters, but does anyone suspect that perhaps page count matters towards SEO and that competing sites with more total pages than you might have an advantage SEOwise?

Wordpress Blog Integrated into eCommerce site - Should we use one xml sitemap or two?
Hi guys, I wonder whether you can help me with a couple of SEO queries: So we have an ecommerce website (www.exampleecommercesite.com) with its own xml sitemap, which we have submitted to the Google Webmasters Console. However, recently we decided to add a blog to our site for SEO purposes. The blog is on a subdomain of the site such as: blog.exampleecommercesite.com (We wanted to have it as www.exampleecommercesite.com/blog but our server made it very difficult and it wasn't technically possible at the time) 1. Should we add the blog.exampleecommercesite.com as a separate property in the Google Webmaster tools? 2. Should we create a separate xml sitemap for the blog content or are there more benefits in terms of SEO if we have one sitemap for the blog and the ecommerce site? If appreciate your opinions on the topic! Thank you and have a good start of the week!

Penguin 3.0
I saw slight drop yesterday after the penguin rollout, about 3 - 4 spots lower on targeted KW's. However, I'm still on first page for those KW, just near the bottom as opposed to near the top. I'm wondering if anyone else experienced, or has experienced with past Penguin updates, a "slight" dip in rankings. What actions did you take, if any? I'm inclined to simply focus on building better links rather than disavow given the lack of severity. With that said, I would love some feedback or suggestions from anyone who experienced what I would consider a "less severe" penalty (3 - 4 spots, still on first page).

Site not in Google top 50 for key terms
Dear Moz Community, Our site - http://www.sportsdirectnews.com publishes a high volume of daily sport stories and aims to follow Google's Webmaster Guidelines, yet our pages don't appear anywhere in Google's SERP's. We've looked in details at the issue and think it could be something to do with: a) Unusual links or b) High page loading time or c) Too many on-page links If you could have a look at the site - http://www.sportsdirectnews.com - and give your professional opinion as to why our website is not appearing in SERP's, we would be most appreciative. How do blog comment/forum back links compare to editorial back links?
I know that Google prefers a varied back link profile, and so it's ideal to get both - but I wanted to know, are followed back links from blog comments, forum posts etc. (i.e. The low-hanging fruit) weighted significantly lower by Google than links appearing within the of a page, for example? If so, is it possible to quantify by how much?
