How to avoid duplicate content on ecommerce pages?

I am currently building the site architecture for a very large ecommerce site. I am wondering how I should build it out if I have products that I want to include in multiple categories within my site.
For example: Lets say I sell fitness equipment and I have categories for things such as: Treadmill, Exercise Bike, Stair Stepper, Weight Benches etc.
But then I also have specific brand category pages such a: Precor, Life Fitness, Hammer, Body Solid
So my question is how do I structure this so I am building this correctly? If I sell a Precor Treadmill I will want to include that product under the "Treadmill" category page as well as under the "Precor Equipment" category page.
Can I get some advice for the best way to structure this? It's obviously something I want to avoid at all costs of doing improperly and having to fix later.

Sorry I didn't make that a little clearer. But, yes, it sounds like you understand. Only serve one product page. List the product page in whatever categories seem appropriate.
As to which page to serve, I actually like the URL www.site.com/home-gym-equipment/body-solid-g9s.html as it provides additional keywords as opposed to just repeating keywords. But if Body Solid is a popular enough brand where lots of people shop specifically for that brand, then you might want to go with www.site.com/body-solid/body-solid-g9s.html.

Hmmm, I think all this confused me even more.
Maybe I should give a real life example. Lets say I have only ONE product page and url for the body solid g9s.
Let's say the url is www.site.com/home-gym-equipment/body-solid-g9s.html
There could also be a url that is www.site.com/body-solid/body-solid-g9s.html
Basically you are saying that it is ok to have that product page show up for both categories in my sites category product page. However, I should make sure that I choose only one of those paths to actually serve up as a product page? Also I would assume it makes more sense to serve up this page www.site.com/body-solid/body-solid-g9s.html no matter what path the use to get there as it would make more sense?
Am I understanding this? Thank you

If you are worried about the category pages having duplicate content, that shouldn't be a big concern as most of the content should be unique from one page versus any other page. Some content is almost always going to be repeated to some extent on a website. You need to make sure there is enough unique content on the page to differentiate it as The page on your site about that keyword. Having multiple navigation paths to the same product is going to increase conversion as it makes it easier for customers to find what they want, so I would not shy away from that.
I believe the problem is how you serve the product page for products that are cross-listed. I don't know how your product pages are created, but you won't want more than one URL for any one product.If you use breadcrumbs, you'll have to choose which set of breadcrumbs you want your users to see, even if they came to the page via a different path. If any other content is dynamically created based on the category it is listed in, you'll have to make sure that the one page you serve adequately fulfills what the customer would expect to see based on other experiences with your site.

How to fix duplicate content for homepage and index.html
Hello, I know this probably gets asked quite a lot but I haven't found a recent post about this in 2018 on Moz Q&A, so I thought I would check in and see what the best route/solution for this issue might be. I'm always really worried about making any (potentially bad/wrong) changes to the site, as it's my livelihood, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Moz, SEMRush and several other SEO tools are all reporting that I have duplicate content for my homepage and index.html (same identical page). According to Moz, my homepage (without index.html) has PA 29 and index.html has PA 15. They are both showing Status 200. I read that you can either do a 301 redirect or add rel=canonical I currently have a 301 setup for my http to https page and don't have any rel=canonical added to the site/page. What is the best and safest way to get rid of duplicate content and merge the my non index and index.html homepages together these days? I read that both 301 and canonical pass on link juice but I don't know what the best route for me is given what I said above. Thank you for reading, any input is greatly appreciated!

Nice looking ecommerce menus with featured product categories - bad for SEO due to duplicate content?
My ecommerce website has menus which contain 'featured product sub-categories'. These are shown alongside the other product sub-category links. Each 'featured product category' includes a link, an image (with link) and some text. All menu content is visible to search engines. These menus look nice and probably encourage CTR (not tested!) but are they bad for SEO?

I have a question about having to much content on a single page. Please help :)
I am working on a music related site. We are building a feature in our system to allow people to write information about songs on their playlist. So when a song is currently being played a user can read some cool facts or information about the song. http://imgur.com/5jFumPW ( screenshot). Some playlists have over 100 songs and could be completely random in genre and artist. I am wondering if some of these playlists have over 5,000 words of content if that is going to hurt us? We will be very strict about making sure its non spammy and good content. Also for the titles of the content is it bad to have over 100 h3 tags on one page? Just want to make sure we are on the right track. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Locating Duplicate Pages
Hi, Our website consists of approximately 15,000 pages however according to our Google Webmaster Tools account Google has around 26,000 pages for us in their index. I have run through half a dozen sitemap generators and they all only discover the 15,000 pages that we know about. I have also thoroughly gone through the site to attempt to find any sections where we might be inadvertently generating duplicate pages without success. It has been over six months since we did any structural changes (at which point we did 301's to the new locations) and so I'd like to think that the majority of these old pages have been removed from the Google Index. Additionally, the number of pages in the index doesn't appear to be going down by any discernable factor week on week. I'm certain it's nothing to worry about however for my own peace of mind I'd like to just confirm that the additional 11,000 pages are just old results that will eventually disappear from the index and that we're not generating any duplicate content. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a way to download a list of the 26,000 pages that Google has indexed so that I can compare it against our sitemap. Obviously I know about site:domain.com however this only returned the first 1,000 results which all checkout fine. I was wondering if anybody knew of any methods or tools that we could use to attempt to identify these 11,000 extra pages in the Google index so we can confirm that they're just old pages which haven’t fallen out of the index yet and that they’re not going to be causing us a problem? Is there any benefit in on-site duplicate content?
I have about 50 internal pages on my site that I want to add a "Do it yourself tutorial" to in an effort to build the quality of the pages. Is this going to de-value the content if I put it on all 50 pages? It's difficult to write similar content 50 different ways.
