What do you do to get a few quick lnks
-
When launching a site to google.com where can you submit it to get a few quick lnks to be enough for indexing and startup? As I saw directory pages are kinda slow you can wait months for your submission. How can you gain quick links? Can you name some sites?

Thanks James.
What is webmaster tools imo?
-
To get quick links:
-
sign up to forums and make a members page.
-
Add the website to social bookmarking websites such as Reddit, Stumble Upon ect.
-
Add the site to directory sites.
-
even add the site to web master tools imo speeds up the process.

Any and all quality links would be helpful.
Every new site is different. A real estate agent's sites will obtain links from different sources then a site selling vitamins. A car insurance site will receive links from different sources then a fashion site.
Why was the site created? There should be a slow, thoughtful response to that question. The right answer should be you are either filling a need that others are not serving, or you are doing it better / faster / cheaper then others. There are many thousands of websites covering real estate, fashion, vitamins, etc. Whatever your niche, ensure you are not just another site because no one needs site #14212 covering the same topic. Do something great with your site then let the world know about it. You should find people WANT to link to your site. If they don't, you either didn't build your site well, aren't filling a need, aren't providing quality content, or something else is wrong.

I think you are likely referring to low quality, free directories which you are probably better off not submitting your site to. The quality of those links are very low and often pages are not even indexed. If you submitted to a high quality directory and received a listing on an indexed page, it would help.

Google will naturally visit your site's main domain simply because it was registered. You can submit a sitemap also to help trigger an initial visit. After that, the indexing depends on the depth of the site and it's popularity (i.e. links).

How can a high authority website get away with this?
I found out a website i manage recently lost a link from Business Insider - DA 90+ ... after losing this link my DA dropped 5 points! I read the article and it is absolute GIBBERISH. the link that replaced my link actually links to a site that contains pornographic ads (jumbotrons.net). link: https://www.businessinsider.com.au/ninth-circuit-gay-marriage-quote-2012-12 my questions: 1. how would a company this reputable with a DA 90+ be building pages like this without major penalties? (i realize it is from .au (australia) but from research they own that site too) 2. how exactly does this work? are they selling links to people? did my competitor pay them to replace my link with theirs? why create a page that sounds like robots wrote it 3. would it be a good idea for me to try to get the link back? it certainly was helping considering i lost 5 DA points when i lost the link, but it goes against everything that makes sense in what i've read about toxic links and keeping things clean Curious to learn a little more about these dark arts!!!

Where do I get backlinks?
Three months ago I made the "foolish" decision to launch an insurance quote website (didn't think of looking into how competitive insurance websites were before investing my time, money and energy). Due to budget costs, I have been forced to learn about SEO. At this point I would say I am at the Peon level. lol. Today I signed up for SEOmoz and have found that my competitors have TENS OF THOUSANDS of backlinks. To logical people, this would be enough to throw in the towel. Not me. I'm stupid. I have spent many many hours over the last few months creating backlinks (at least I thought I was). However, I want to start targeting the sites that my competitors are using because they are getting anchor texts. How do I do this? How do websites create so many back links? Some of my competitors have 50,000 backlinks! I know this won't be done overnight. I appreciate all the help the SEOmoz community can offer a Peon like myself. One day I promise to pay it forward.

Best way to get more keywords to rank
I have a flash site and have been very successful at getting my keywords that are in my site title and also in the text of my page to rank well. What is the best way to get additional keywords to rank without increasing the text on your page. Is it just getting more anchor-text backlinks pointing your site with the new keywords in the text?

How would one get on the Huff Po's "Around the Web" list?
On the huffington post they often have lists of links related to the article, near the bottom just before the comments. This section, when present, is called "Around the Web". See this as an example: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-bacon-phd-ma-ma/health-at-every-size_b_1314339.html Do the article authors choose these links, or are they auto-generated somehow? I had a relatively small competitor appear here, so I'm wondering if there are any tricks to gett included. Thanks! Edited to add hyperlink
