Link exchange with nofollow return

I own a gaming site and a common practice with gaming sites is to link with other sites that post about similar game franchises.
I noticed that some sites do this and they put nofollows on their links back. What is your thought on this?
Should I remove their link if they do that? Should I keep it up and just be glad to get thousands of nofollow links in return for some dofollows out of my site?

Link Exchanges are a high risk strategy, Google actively seek out and penalise sites that participate in some of them. ~ A nofollow link is usually worthless from an SEO perspective as the spiders will usually not follow the link. So poor quality links (which links from exchanges usually are) that are also nofollow are rather pointless. ~ A few good quality links will be of much more benefit than many many links from a link exchange.

Thanks for the response. I create a lot of content and get a lot of links that way. But when I do use link exchanges like mentioned above then what do you think aboutthe nofollow situation

Hi Noah, (Apologies for the lack of paragraphing here, doesn't work on an iPad). ~ Recipricol Links aren't that beneficial anyway, one-way free followed relevant inbound links with good anchor text from reputable websites is the way to go. Gaming sites often find it tough in search as there is so much dodgy link work going on. 'My advice is to Only Link Out to another website if it's a valuable link for your visitors to follow'. If not, don't link out. There are plenty of great websites around that do provide Follow links, often within different though related industries (Gaming is leisure, so non-gaming leisure sites will often be good sites to get a link from). Try producing some great new content, an idea could be an Infographic on the History of Gaming, include a text link in the infographic. Distribute this well, other sites would love to be able to provide their visitors with this type of content. In return, you'll get some great PR and likely a number of good inbound links. Value of Links? What is each link worth?
Morning Everyone, I just had this thought and wondered what everyone's opinions were in terms of link value in monetary terms. We'll assume for the purposes of this that the links come from contextually relevant sites and that the sites in question have got the Moz DA from being high quality and have a good quality incoming link profile. Its a bit of a theoretical question, but i guess imagine if the only way you could get links was to pay for them, what would they be worth to you. This is link value for SEO purposes, they will have in addition value from traffic from good sites, that no doubt varies wildly depending on topic. I assume everyone also agrees on: The first link from a domain is the most valuable High DA sites are worth more than low ones. So could anyone who has an opinion on the link value suggest a monetary value for links. Its really just using a monetary amount to see how best to target my time. Here is my example of what might be expected, but I am hoping people with more knowledge will perhaps correct it. Using sitewide links to improve link profile?
Hi Guys... When I look at my competitor's link profile, they often have thousands of backlinks. For example, one of our main competitor, he got 3,400 backlinks in total but only 80 referring domains. When I look at my link profile, I have around 50-60 referring domains, but hardly 80 backlinks. My question is, is it okay to get a few sitewide links (no-follow of course!) to get to the thousands backlinks? Or I will be able to achieve top rankings with my current link profile? Thanks!!

Should I try to earn that link?
Hi everyone, I am new to Moz and here is my first question. I have just launched a website that took me a year to develop and I am in search for great links, following Moz advices. However, theory and practice are certainly two different things... Although my site is not about stock exchange markets, it does contain an area related to the subject. My goal is to attract links towards my main topic via that area. I have found that website: zonebourse.com (I am working on the French market)

According to the Moz tools, page authority and domain authority are really good. Also, I believe I can do a very link on my side. However, should I contact them ? They have an area in the footer for link building, but it doesn't look to me as "quality work" I have been looking for contextual links, but can't find any My question is should I try to earn that link, considering that according to Moz guidelines, it may not be a quality link, but looking at the harsh reality, for such a "good" partner, it could be it or nothing? Best way to filter out the nofollowed links from WMT?
When I'm downloading links from WMT to audit them for my unnatural links clients I generally check each individual link. If it is a nofollowed link I make a note that it is nofollowed and move on. I'm thinking that there has to be a quicker way to find all of the nofollowed links so that I can filter them out from the beginning. How would I do that?

Hi there, I have been guest posting on blogs trying to build some back-links into my website, which so far is going not too bad, however I was wondering when writing these guest posts should I limit my post to let's say 2 back-links per guest post? If 2 back-links are going to different pages on my website, does the first back-links in the guest post have more value than the 2nd back-link? Kind Regards,

Many competitor's backlinks are in content anchor links. Ho do I get these same links?
Hi I managed to open up OSE. I'm finding that much of the competition's backlinks are in content anchor text links. Am I supposed to get backlinks from these same pages using the same anchor text but linking back to my page or is that allowed? If so, how do I get these in content blog post links? Thanks. Sunil.
