Blog SEO Strategy
-
The current SEO strategy for my company blog is to include a percentage of short tail keywords in each blog post, and not to link to the main site because they are concerned with diluting the blog.
I would like to change the strategy and instead use the blog to promote long tail keywords by having each entry focus on around a different long tail keyword. I would also like to use the short-tail keywords for internal linking to strengthen our important pages with keyword rich anchor text (no more than 1 link per 100 words).
I would love the advice of the SEOMoz community about which strategy is more effective (or if there is something else entirely we should be doing).
Thanks!

I would really need more information on this blog structure for example is it sitting on a sub domain?
In my opinion the best way to treat a company blog and with the blogs I have worked on in the past we do have our list of mid-low tier keywords we aim to factor into posts, yet if the post is going to sound SEO spammy we do not include the keywords in titles, move for the url, really foucs on top quality content and bringing in content that the users will want to share. Develop a content strategy around the blog plan what you will add to the blog over a term of time.
I would advise on the following:
-
Video content (how to videos/ any thing interesting depending on your niche)
-
Infographics -
-
Market trends/ analysis - show your customers you know your stuff.
-
Community events, I have seen a few company blogs where they show weekend events near the company and how they are involved, it is easy content and easy traffic. Have a separate section for it.
We blog to make the customers love the posts yet also ROI is factored in.
Hope this helps.

Build a company blog and make it a valuable, informative and entertaining resource
- This content and link building strategy is so popular and valuable that it's one of the few recommended personally by the engineers at Google (source: USA Today & Stone Temple). Blogs have the unique ability to contribute fresh material on a consistent basis, participate in conversations across the web, and earn listings and links from other blogs, including blogrolls and blog directories.
Concentrate on creating good, original content for your users and the rest will come.

20% of long tails are completly new, google has never seen them before. so you cant really optimize for them, just write about the subject naturaly and you will be doing a good job of optimizing for them anyhow.
Yes use the keywords to point at you money making pages, its one think to get someone to your blog, its another to get them to your money pages.

Internal blog with history and some SEO value versus new external blogs with specialized content?
We operate a blog inside a folder on our site and considering the launch of 4 highly focused blogs with specialized content which are now categories on the internal blog. Wondering if there is more value in using the external new blogs or just keep growing the internal blog content. Does fact that the internal blog is buried amongst millions of pages have any impact if we want the content indexed and value given to the links from the blog content to our main site pages.

Simple Blog Content Question
Which is better? To write my own blog post or, (with permission) use other high DA content on my blog. I'll probably do both, but I'm very curious as to what the search engines prefer or which is better for seo. Thanks in advance!

Moving from Blogspot to blog hosted on our domain
Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about moving our blog. We have had a blog at www.ourcompany.blogspot.co.uk since 2012 and it was last updated mid 2014. There are about 100 posts and the content is actually really good, not spammy in any way and not stuffed with links to our site. The content is essentially guides to buying the right furniture. We have now launched blog functionaility on our website at www.ourcompany.co.uk/blog as I feel this is a better long-term solution to increasing site traffic and page rank. I want to pick your brains on the best way to handle the old content. A: Copy all the Blogspot content across and back date it to the same date it was originally published and then delete the old Blogspot account? Or will Google see this as duplicate content. B: Backup all the Blogspot content now, delete the Blogspot account and then repost this content at a later date? Will this still be seen as duplicate content? 😄 something else. Thanks for reading.

Blog Content
I keep reading that a steady stream of new blogs from my site is a great way for getting inbound links to my site. My question is... Does the content of my blogs have to be relevant to my site? My site is www.marblerenovation.com. If the blog should stay relevant, I am finding it pretty hard to create engaging content around cleaning marble floors. Also, does anyone know of a good place to find bloggers to help create this content? Thanks in advance everyone Dave

If you were guest blogging would you prefer a link or revenue share
I am looking at ideas at the moment, we have been getting a large number of guest bloggers wanting to write for our site but i have to say we are turning down around 90% of the articles as they are low quality. So i am just wondering, to attract high quality articles, should we carry on offering a link in the articles or offer them revenue share by asking for their google adsense code and putting it somewhere on the page. If we did offer this, how would we impliment this, we work on a joomla website and have read about rev share but not sure how we do this correctly. Would like to know people's thoughts on this

Best Way to Manage Multiple Blogs
Good Morning... I have multiple blogs that all relate to the same industry and products... The blogs all have unique content, they do not have duplicate content... Is there a way to share the information or link from one to the other without being seen as someone trying to manipulate anything? The goal is to keep each blog updated frequently, but I can only write so much unique content... can i somehow share the content? Please provide any feedback or advice... Thanks

Does a Google Map on the contact page help with SEO?
In regards to ranking organically for local search results (not google places), I'm wondering if there is any benefit to having a Google Map on my Contact page with our location pinned? If so, how important do you think it is?
