Embedded videos Youtube or Dailymotion?
-
We have been ranking No.1 for a nice term for over a year, but in the last few months a competitor has taken 1 and 2 (we are 3rd now). It seems hes using a linking web i.e each of his pages has about 20 text links at the bottom of his page to irrelevant sites which in turn do the same thing giving them a nice PA thats about 5-4 more than mine now.
But the interesting thing is that his top 3 links are from videos he has put up on to Dailymotion which has linked back to himself with (no follow links).
We use youtube for our embedded videos, but are we missing a trick? should we be using daily motion too?
on a side note it looks like he has made some articles from junk submit article sites, that link to his site, his facebook fan page and the dailymotion video.

Hes got 77 Linking Root Domains mostly seems to be coming from his linking network or article sites, while I have only 31. Also he is only ahead of us in one variant of the keyword (the biggest traffic wise). It seems that he pretty much focusing on just that keyword 58/77 of the links, while I only have 16/31 using the same keyword.
But you think that because the junk links he has, hes not that far ahead of me ie I don't need to get 30+ good anchor text links to reclaim the top spot?

Sound like they are worth nothing, He is giving them footer links thart are not relevant, i doubt they are giving him any better back
-
his site is a niche furniture site and the links on the bottom of his homepage are:
weight training for women - silk sheets - ladies perfume - quilts for sale - fireplace screen - bed quilts - chess sets - buy dvd
But there are not reciprocal, those sites link to a completely different set of sites, which then some of them link back to him, quite complex. Then on every page of his he has a completely different set of links (and the same with the sites he links too). Other than that he got a load olds of articles posts (some years old).
I have had a good look at all of his links and really he only has a few what you could call relevant links at a stretch, but not as many as us.
But back on topic, you don't think the no follow links from Dailymotion are any good? (they have high PA, 50s

He may be syndicating the videos to other 3rd party sites which do pass link juice.
Article syndication if done correctly can also work well.
I would look at every thing he is doing and then re evaluate your strategy, do every thing he does yet do it better.
-
i dont think any of those points is giving him high rank.
reciprocal links, are ok, if the sites are relevant and of aithority.
No follow are not going to help, and article posting is quite worthless according to google.
i would say that he has a few good relevant links that may not be obvious.

We've just completed a company video. Should we post it everywhere at once, or stagger on various channels (YouTube, website, LinkedIn, Facebook...)
Hopefully we'll get a lot of traffic from our new corporate video. If we post it everywhere at once, will we get a spike in our analytics, and if so, will it be seen by Google as an anomaly, or even suspicious. If we spread out the distribution over several channels over a little time, should we get a longer bump. In either instance, we may consider a sharing schedule to promote it over time.

How do I get more video reviews on a new site?
Hi, I'm working on a site that has video reviews of various places. It's general information/experience that most people possess and production-wise they are selfies. These videos are then transcribed and, voila... searchable content. My problem is this... how do I get large numbers of people to go to the trouble to make a 2 minute selfie? I thought about HARO, since one could work in a plug for something, but they have a site traffic threshold that this new site isn't at. Any and all ideas on how to efficiently generate this content for a new site with very little traffic would be appreciated. Thanks!

Embedded links/badges
Hi there Just picking up on something Rand said in his blog analysing his predictions for 2014. Rand predicted that Google will publicly acknowledge algorithmic updates targeting...embeddable infographics/badges as manipulative linking practices While this hasn't exactly materialised yet, it has got me thinking. We have a fair few partners linking to us through an embedded badge. This was done to build the brand, but the positives here wouldn't be worth being penalised in search. Does anyone have any further evidence of websites penalised for doing this, or any views on whether removing those badges should be a priority for us? Many thanks

How do I write tags on a youtube video for a local Google search?
I've been reading into tags, and I would like to know what the best ways to do them for a local search are. Right now I have a title that reads similar to, "Keyword1 and Keyword2 in City X" Would I make a corresponding tag that reads "Keyword 1 and Keyword 2 in City X,"? Or would I do "Keyword 1," "Keyword 2," and, "City X," as separate tags? Thanks!

Is it okay to use hiddencontaining meta information that is a video transcript?
I have been using the tools at DotSub.com to transcribe our YouTube videos. They are free, work really great and I highly recommend them. Today I received an email from DotSub with recommendations for SEO on video. I have a question about #5 on their list. Here it is: "Step 5: Embed the video transcript into the non-visible meta-data of the page" "Always embed the video transcript in the page meta-data This is done by placing

the content of the transcription within a non-visible HTML element (a hidden
div). While most search engines do not weight non-visible content as high as
visible content, this will still provide additional SEO for your page. Do
this whether you include the full transcript visibly on your page or not." This is something I have never heard before. And, like many of you, I have always heard that putting anything "hidden" in the HTML is a very bad idea. Is this different? Do any of you do this? Is it really a recommended technique? Thanks all! Video & Image Spam?
We have 50 product videos and 100 product images to distribute. For the sake of increasing nofollow Linking Root Domains, my manager wants to distribute them in the following manner: 10 Company profiles on 10 video sites, each with 5 videos. The sites to be used are sites like YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, etc. 10 Company profiles on 10 image sites, each with 10 images. The sites to be used are sites like Photobucket, Flickr, imageshack, Imgur, etc. My thoughts are that we should stick to one service for video (YouTube) and one service for images (Flickr). We can increase nofollow LRD's by doing some quality blog commenting. Keep in mind that the product images look great, but the videos are amateur and consist of someone holding the product and discussing it's features. Each vid is around one minute in length. What do you think of the two approaches and which do you prefer? Do you think creating many profiles will come off too spammy? We are also weathering a Panda penalty and submitting a Reinclusion Request to Google within the next two weeks. Your thoughts are very welcomed and appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Need a Service to get back links- info on Youtube PR Ranking
I have about 4000 you tube video urls that I need someone to submit for comment links, and profile links, and other links above pr2 and above. (will consider lower pr too). The ones I see when searching, don't seem to be able to understand how to use their submitters. Yes I know PR most likely will not be passed, but at least the vid will rank better with higher pr. My pr4 vids do. It seems to be that you tube vids are easier to gain pr. When I do a link search for pr5 vid urls, it doesn't seem to return links that justify the PR, so any info on that is appreciated. Any comments about how I should not do this or any form of this will not be appreciated. Thanks

What are good sources to buy traffic and video views?
I am looking into buying traffic for a website and I'd like to know if anyone has had a positive experience doing so. What are the best companies that sell traffic? I also want to buy video views. This is a trickier question. I upload the videos to YouTube and use the embed code on my website. I want the paid video views on my site so I get the traffic and YT gets the video view. Any suggestions? Thanks
