Why did Domain Authority go up so much? Did you change your measurement?

Our Domain Authority has been at 42 or 43 for a couple months and it just increased to 54. Why did this happen?
I would like to think that it is because of out SEO and linkbuilding work. However, I suspect something else may be involved because the 3 competitors we track also all increased between 10 to 25 points at the same time.
What happened? Did you make changes in the way you score DA or is this the result of changes in what pages you crawl? Or what?

Yes, SEOmoz did change the way they calculate DA and PA. That blog post (and the other referenced in it) give a lot of the background information that'll help explain things for you.
For this update and future updates, I'm going to have a Q&A discussion question that also alerts people to these types of changes, as I know not everyone has a chance to read the blog for those notices.

Best Keyword Strategy for Lower-Authority-Ranked Domain
Hi, What should a lower-authority-ranked blog (DA - 21) who is trying to increase general traffic focus on above all when selecting keywords: difficulty, monthly volume, opportunity, or priority? I know that all are important factors to consider, but I fear that without an already consistent following our new content will just get hidden behind more established domains if we select too difficult of keywords. Changing domain from .net to .se
Hi Guys, We have someone in the process of changing our domain from an 11 year old domain to a newer country domain of .se, He is not a web expert although he knows a lot of things. I am just wondering is there a checklist anywhere of things that are very important here that we should be aware of or he should be implementing so we can just double check that he is/ we are moving in the correct direction. Page Rank vs Page and Domain Authority - who wins?
A client has found another SEO agency promising various things to do with link building. Most of these promises are based upon links from sites with allegedly high page ranks. So my questions: Page rank seems to be fading out am I safe to stay with PA and DA metrics instead? I don't agree with link building tactics and feel that it should more a networking activity to provide USEFUL links to users... am I being too white hat and missing opporunities? The other company have promised long list of links including 100 SEO friendly web directory listings, 200 PR 8 back links from Pinterest (which i thought was no follow) & 10 long lasting and high quality mini web sites (with three pages/posts, video and pictures). Am I right that this all sounds a little spammy or is this really what I should be doing for me clients?

Why would SEOmoz be blocked from a domain?
Am I missing something? I'm trying to do Link Research on www.weddingcarsofhampshire.co.uk but it seems to be blocked, any ideas why that would be the case?

Does the page authority data also considers the on page factors like the presence of keyword in the title,meta text, and keyword frequency ??
The moz difficulty score considers four factors for the top websites. are the on page factors included in the page authority data ?

Experencing page authority issues after a 301 redirect
We just completed a build of a new site and used 301 redirects to retain our page authority. In the first week all the interior pages reported a page authority of 1 after 2 or so weeks the page authority began to look more accurate but they were still not as high as the original pages. The strange thing is that when you click on the link to a page the page authority populates correctly but when the page finally finished loading the PA goes back down. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so how did you fix it? Thanks!
