Creating new url structure for inbound links

In an effort to make is easier for our clients to link to content on our site we intend on creating a simpler url structure for them: site.com/1234 will 301 to site.com/xyz/abc/1234-this-is-where-we-want-you
Is there a danger of creating new 301's just for this purpose, the goal here is to make it easier for clients to link to content and thus garner more inbound links.

Yeah, if it's essentially just a URL-shorterner, then that should be fine. It's how Bit.ly and other shorteners work - the 301-redirect passes the link "juice" to the appropriate page. I've built my own shorteners for a couple of sites and have never had trouble. For example, this URL:
...goes to...
http://www.usereffect.com/topic/25-point-website-usability-checklist
It's not being built on a 3rd-party platform (just home-brewed PHP).

I dont see a problem with it, Google can tell whether you are trying to do something spammy or trying to make something easier for your website visitors.
In this circumstance, I would say hundreds, even thousands of pages with this type of redirect would be fine.
I would like to hear other people's thoughts on this issue.

Should I use UTM parameters to track how many clicks we get or will this in any way negatively affect our SEO benefits? Hope you guys know what I mean. Are new pages treated similar to new domains with respect to ranking?
Hello...I'm hoping to get some advice or guidance regarding the following. My website has gone from a 30 page site about loans, to a 500 page site covering a much wider range of products such as mortgages and other more specific loan related pages. All the new pages were made live at the same time, and I've been through GWT tools to add pages with in the Google fetch and most have been indexed fine. My question is, how should I expect Google to treat all of these new pages? The site has changed massively and many of the new pages are at pages 3-4 for their key terms. Will Google treat these new pages in the same way it may a new domain, e.g. it could be potenitally a couple of months before the pages start to rank better? I appreciate that the terms are very competitive. Thanks!

Hi Mozzers, I work for an IT company specialising in outsourcing Cisco Engineers worldwide. Due to being involved heavily in outsourcing, I'm finding it impossible to generate genuine and organic links to our website. My question is that is it essential to have back links back to our website to achieve high search engine rankings? I'm unable to get clients and other partners to provide links as we're the outsourced company,but I can get backlinks from unrelated c ompanies. For example we're running a CSR initiative with a National Gym relating to health & fitness, also links from our web designers etc... Do these links have any type of value? Internal Linking Structure
I have a question about internal linking. I am trying to rank for the term 'entertainment agent' and wonder wether I should go through my blog posts (50 or so) and link the words 'entertainment agent' to my homepage which is optomised for the keyword. Will that add any SEO value? Should I be directing any 'link juice' from my blog posts to the main pages I want to rank or will that look unnatural?

Root domain registered in search engines, inbound links to www sub-domain. A problem?
I just discovered that our site is registered with the major search engines without the "www" sub domain. Both domains resolve directly to our site, which I need to get corrected. I had planned to have the root (honestabe.com) forwarded to the sub (www.honestabe.com). However, I then found that the sub-domain is not listed with the search engines. Of course, naturally almost all of our inbound links include www. Does Google differentiate between links with and without the sub-domain? In other words, if I forward the www address to the root, will I still get the SEO benefit of those inbound links using www? I'm trying to figure out how to approach this. I'm hoping someone is going to make me feel really stupid for asking this and say it's no big deal. However, I have a feeling this could be a mess.

When new links to site do we see DA improve right away?
If I get a new link from a external site with a high DA, will it show has soon has the link is available on the referring site? My new site as NO Domain Authority, I guess a link with a DA of 83 will in-cress it.
