Is Yahoo Directory worth the money?
-
Our listing is up for renewal in Yahoo Directory. Is there a way to measure the impact the listing had vs. the year before without the listing beyond direct referrals?
Thanks!

How much is the link for the year again, from what I can remember about $299.
I think the $299 is better spent else where, if it costs you $20 for a article to be written I would produce 15 articles and either put them on your website or use them for guest blogging, I think this will give you a better return SEO wise then a Yahoo listing.
Like Rob said though, if your a large company with a big marketing budget, there is probably 4-5 directories they would signup with and just repeat the subscription year on year.

The Yahoo directory is still a good link. The question of value can only be answered by you. Do you have a site with a lot of links to it that are strong? Did your PA/DA improve with that and did you measure other links that were added over time? (This in my estimation would be the only way to determine even a quality guess).
For me, some sites - clients who are new with reasonable spend available, clients who really need all they can get, etc. it is a good spend. For smaller local without highly competitive areas, those with history (2 plus years), strong locally, i do not see the point in it as there are good ways to optimize them without the spend.

Any SEO disadvantages with creating pages under a directory page which doesn't exists?
Hi, Let's say we are going to create pages in the URL path www.website.com/directory/sub-pages/. In case this page www.website.com/directory/ doesn't exists or redirected; will the pages created in this URL path like stated above have any issues in-terms of SEO? We will link these pages from somewhere in the website and planning to redirect the /directory/ to homepage. Suggestions please.

Google's Importance on usability issues in sub directories or sub domains?
Hi Moz community, As the different usability issues like pagespeed or mobile responsiveness are playing a key role in website rankings; I wonder how much the same factors are important for sub directories or sub domain pages? Do each and every page of sub directory or sub domain must be optimised like website pages? Does Google gives same importance? Thanks

Bing & Yahoo Traffic
Traffic to my three sites from Bing and Yahoo has been declining over the past year. Meanwhile traffic from Google has been increasing. A year ago Bing and Yahoo brought in 34% of my traffic. Now it's only 19%. What can I do to optimise specifically for Bing/Yahoo? I have Webmaster tools. Or could it be that my customers (largely aged 60+) are moving over to Google? Thanks

Which is the better option in 2012, sub-domains or sub-directories?
Pinnion offers online software for surveys and trivia games. Information about our product is at www.pinnion.com and then interested users create their accounts at secure.pinnion.com. The surveys that they create link back to secure.pinnion.com, so we would obviously like to gain whatever SEO benefits we can from that structure. We've been advised that moving from secure.pinnion.com to www.pinnion.com/secure would be the best way to accomplish this. A 2009 post by Rand seems to support that POV, but then a 2011 post over SEObook claims that everything has changed 100% since then. There was a little conversation here and here in Q&A last Fall that touched on this subject, but nothing really definitive. Would love to get thoughts on this subject based on the collective wisdom today. Thanks.
