Back Link: Is LinkedIn keywords in profile good Link building strategy?
-
I distribute industrial products B2B with e commerce.
I have a personal profile on LinkedIn. I listed the products I sell and I could have all my partners and associates list my web site on their profiles.
Do search engines review LinkedIn personal profiles or company profiles and is it a good marketing strategy to have my web site, keywords, and my two largest selling products on LinkedIn?

I think the general consensus would be to write your social media profiles to appeal to your audience (good copy etc) rather than search engines.
With that said, I think it's really good practice to be consistent across all your social media profiles, the addition of keywords in your profiles will produce 'synergy' across all your SEO efforts.

Hi Mike,
LinkedIn is not the best place to build links, but it is a great source to build connections which can turn into link opportunities. The problem with linkedin profile URL's is the URL itself, when adding website links in your profile LinkedIn does not link it simply as http://www.example.com, they link your url as **http://www.linkedin.com/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.example.com&urlhash=Pwtq. **In the past they used to give you a good link, but since have changed it to this.
You mentioned listing your products on your personal page, this is great but be careful. Try setting up a company profile page and list your products and services there. Your partners and associates can like the company page and share it and its products with their connections.
I guess to answer your question, LinkedIn is a great marketing tool, not so much as a good link building strategy in general though.

Inbound link is follow link but we put no follow link back - is it beneficial for rankings?
Dear Moz Community, We are operating in a niche market, where there are not so many content marketing options. What we are left with are link exchanging with relevant sites that are on the same topic but to not directly compete with us. Now we know that if we link back to site A and site a links back to us - for google this is not a very good link. But, some of the sites we are exchanging links with, do not know the term follow vs no follow links. My question - if your link is to site A is a no follow link but they give us a follow link - does it mean thats a better option than a follow vs follow. Thanks for help!

Competitors black-hat link building?
Hi Mozzers, http://www.alivenetwork.com/ is a close competitor of ours. They're ranking far better than us even though many of our search metrics are the same...except one! links! To give you an idea, we've got a fairly large backlink profile for the industry with quality links.

34,981 links from 276 Root Domains = about 127 links/domain. Alive Network has 1,692,256 links from 705 root domains = about 2400 links/domain. Surely that looks a bit black-hat right there? Is it just a matter of time until they're penalised? Perhaps they're just a bunch of domain-wide links? Thoughts would be appreciated.1 -
What do you use to gather and build Links?
I was just wondering what do most people use for gathering and building links? Is OpenSiteExplorer enough? When I am analysing competitors, there are literally thousands of links, how do you scan them and select the ones you want to use? Any other tools?

Sitewide links from affiliates. Good or bad?
We have 14 affiliate sites that have a sitewide banner linked to one of our pages. The banner link is "follow" and contains an alt text that includes a brand name and a keyword. Are these links harming us, or creating value? We were hit by Panda 2.0 - do you think it might be the reason?

For a new site, does it matter which sites I get back links from first? I.e., are the first back links more important than later ones?
I've heard that when a site is new, the sources from which it gets its first back links are very important -- that the early links are more important for ranking than later links. Is this true. If so, what would be some good places to get these very first links? Thanks.
