Page Cache And Index
-
If you are browsing a site, what is the best way or programs to use to see if the page has been indexed and cached?
Thanks

For indexing, you can do a site: in the search engine to see what's been indexed. To look at a specific page, in addition to the site: operator, add inurl: and some words from the URL to help narrow down the results.
For caching, I use the Resurrect Pages extension for Firefox. Right click while you're in the page, and you can select one of several caching sites to see if that page is available. It's also handy for when you're getting a 404 on a page and want to see what was there.
According to the plugin page, you can use the following caching sites:
Searches through five big page cache/mirrors:
CoralCDN
Google Cache
Yahoo! Cache
The Internet Archive
MSN Cache
Gigablast
WebCiteThe extension is available at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/resurrect-pages/

A browser cache of the site and the search engine is stored on server, there are applications that verifies this but tey are using just some interogations from search engines
example on google-> cache:www.yoursite.com

Can service request pages be indexed for a service site?
I think there is no point in indexing service request pages for a service site. And it causes the indexing of the main pages to be done with a delay. Does anyone have experience with indexing service request pages and their results?

Geotargeting on Home Page
I work on a website that have listings across the country. Is it possible for us to geotarget the home page of the website to cater to the person based on location so we can show the geogargeting links, articles, videos on the home page and direct the user in the right direction. Forrent seem to be doing it: http://www.forrent.com/ Will this have any negative SEO impact or we can lose rankings ?

Should we de-index pages that not receiving any traffic?
We had a 10 pages website that was doing great with very competitive keywords, ( Vancouver Landscaping, Surrey Landscaping, etc) than we added 90 more pages to the website in order to target long tail keywords. Our traffic grew a little bit, but we lost all high competitive keywords, instead we got more traffic for our long tails like ( Yard clean up Burnaby). Is it a common rule in SEO? If yes, should we de index or even delete "long tail" pages that not receiving any traffic? Would it give us bigger chance to get our high competitive keywords back? We are looking for a SEO strategist that can help us, so suggestions and audits would be greatly appreciated and could lead to business with us. website- www(dot)beaverlandscape(dot)com Thank you!

Prevent indexing of dynamic content
Hi folks! I discovered bit of an issue with a client's site. Primarily, the site consists of static html pages, however, within one page (a car photo gallery), a line of php coding: dynamically generates a 100 or so pages comprising the photo gallery - all with the same page title and meta description. The photo gallery script resides in the /gallery folder, which I attempted to block via robots.txt - to no avail. My next step will be to include a: within the head section of the html page, but I am wondering if this will stop the bots dead in their tracks or will they still be able to pick-up on the pages generated by the call to the php script residing a bit further down on the page? Duplicate Page Title
Hi Guys, First off, it's an honour to be a part of this awesome community. I'm using WordPress and getting top 3 rankings for great keywords and I'm very excited, however my page titles are in this format "keyword optimised title here - site name here" eg: "This is my keyword - this is the name of my blog", "This is another keyword - this is the name of my blog", "This is a longtail keyword - this is the name of my blog" SEOMoz is reporting errors because of duplicate page title tags due to the "this is the name of my blog" being in every page title. Will this hurt my rankings? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work! Cheers, Troy.
