Is there a utility that can tell me what keywords my site already ranks high for?
-
Ok... so I'm looking for a way to understand what my site already ranks high for.. I don't necessarily want to have to manually type in keywords. The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate to a client what keywords they're already ranking high for. Is there an easy way / tool to go about doing this?
Thanks in advance,
Gene

Searchmetrics will do that

Google Webmaster tools will tell you aggregate rank data by keyword per page including search impressions. This gives you a great way to know which keyword SEO opportunities there are.

Thanks guys!

HI Gene,
Once you figure out this list from the data gathering - you'll need a tool to build, and run against that list (or lists if broken out by channel), so you can show the client where they position in the ranks.
You can use a tool like the MOZ (rank tracking utility in PRO) although I find this tedious as you can't build a singular report as easily when compared to something, say like RavenTools (this is another tool my team uses for site rank audits) or AWR (Advanced Web Ranking)
You could also go about getting an independent software like AWR (yearly licenses which can be costly) which isn't cloud based, and I prefer this software over any other. The flexibility of this program is great, and the custom reports are fantastic for moulding as needed to export data in multiple formats. You can take it anywhere, and provided you have an internet connection, run it anytime you like.
Looking over the current KW list they rank for (also looking at Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Tools (if you have this setup) is a good place to start Nice call Brian!
you might also want to take that list you extract, and build out an excel file using the MOZ 'keyword analysis and difficulty tool' to map our the competitiveness, and difficutlty score for each keyword, so you can organize them in terms of performance (and attribute that to either short and long tail KW traffic). You'll also extract some nice data through the API from Google on Exact and Broad match phrase search volume
Hope this helps. Cheers.

Wicked answer.

As well as looking at the keywords that are sending you traffic, you can also take a look at the SEO queries report in Google Analytics or the Search Queries report in Google Webmaster tools.
This report displays the top 1,000 daily queries (by clicks) that resulted in impressions, clicks and click-throughs to your website
While I'm not sure I find the average ranking position all that helpful, it is possible to spot keywords optimisation opportunities.

Thank you kindly, Brian. I figured Analytics might be the best place to start!

The best way to do this is to look at your client's analytics application (such as Google Analytics) and look at what keywords they are already receiving traffic on. If they are receiving traffic on a keyword, they must be ranking at least somewhat well, and that will give you a great base to start with for showing them what keywords they rank for. This is by far the easiest and best way to go about this.
Alternatively, you can also use tools like http://search.grader.com/ if they get enough traffic, but be warned that Search Grader does not work very well on sites that do not get much organic search traffic ( < 400 organic search visits/month is a good cutoff)

New Google Update - weird ranking
Hi I wanted to get your thoughts on this keyword ranking. This page - https://www.key.co.uk/en/key/albatross-heavy-duty-office-chairs-24-stone is now ranking for heavy duty office chair 30 stone We don't mention 30 in the content anywhere, apart from the USPs at the top of the page - could this be it?! I don't know how to change this, or I guess Google is still figuring things out and maybe this will drop off? Love to get some thoughts on this! Becky

Google's stand on LSI keywords?
Hi all, So the keywords which appear while typing some keywords and suggested keywords at the bottom of the search results page are refereed as LSI keywords. I been noticing some of the LSI keywords for years related to our industry and Google now suddenly changed them. I wonder why it would be. I can see competitors are started using those LSI keywords widely, is that the reason Google changed them? Thanks

High clicks and low rankings - Correlation?
Hi everyone, we noticed while doing last month's reports that even the best performing campaigns have a few keywords that slipped - some up to 10 positions down. We know keywords fluctuate every month, but May was just a weird month for rankings. While looking at possible issues that caused this, we noticed that these campaigns' clicks have gone up. So while keywords have gone down, their visitors seemed to be on the rise. Is there a correlation? Maybe Google saw an increase in visitors and decided something's up and lowered the rankings (this sounds ridiculous - sorry! May just be pure luck, but thought I'd ask anyway). Has anyone seen a drop in their rankings for May also? I checked everywhere, and I don't think there has been a major update going on. Thanks!

Decline in ranking for a particular theme of keywords after Penguin 2.0
Hi everyone Last month we found on of our clients rankings were seeing significant declines in ranking (like from 3 to 28). This occurred around the time of the Penguin 2.0 update. After further investigation we found that only a collection of keywords were affected. If we were hit by the algorithm update we would expect to find all keywords declining. We have not been manually penalized and other keyword themes are seeing moderate day to day ranking improvements. I know that rankings jump from day to day but a sudden decline of around 20 places for a theme of keywords isn't what we would expect. Thanks all.

Privacy page ranking above home page in serps
I'm using OSE to try and get some clues as to why my privacy page would rank higher than my home page. Could anyone help me figure out which metrics to review to rectify the issue? My key word is: Mardi Gras Parade Tickets The url that is ranking is www.mardigrasparadetickets.com/pages/privacy I'm happy to be ranking in the top 3 for the keyword, but I'd rather hoped it wouldn't be my privacy page. Any help would be awesome, Cy

Rankings moving in every 2 days.
Hi, I am seeing strange behavior of Google for my rankings. I have a very competitive keyword (I can't disclose because of NDA) but for example keyword like "Cameras" on google.co.uk , it stayed on #4 spot for years, we have been practising all good SEO techniques for this. From last couple of weeks, it goes to 9 then stays there for 2 days, then come back to 4 for 2 days, then go back to 9 & then after 2 days come back to 4 & it is keep moving like that... at the time of this post, this one is on 9. Our site have been on top for very competitive kws even like word "Camera" we are 2 which is stable... None of our other kws ranks are changed but only word "Cameras" is affected. I am not sure how & why this is happening, I have been following SEOMoz from long time & hope can find solution here. Note : Keywords used here are not actual, but carry equal importance Please let me know.
