Indexed pages in Google webmaster tools
-
Hi Mozzers,
Very quick question. Google WM tools interface has updated and I want to confirm I'm looking at the correct figure.
If I look up 'Your site on the web' / 'search queries' / then the 'pages' - this is correct indexation figure yes?
This differs from the 'site:' command but that's always the case.
Can anyone confirm,
Thanks

As fair as I know, there is no other equivalent of this value. You should wait 1-2 days, usually big G is fast at checking the sitemaps and showing up some relevant data.
Also you can now test your sitemap data with the GWT so it will benefit from more than 1 part your work if you submit your sitemaps.
Cheers!

Thanks guys - what if the sitemap has not been indexed yet? Its not been submitted so is there not an equivalent of the 'site:' command in WM tools with no sitemap submitted?
cheers

Hi Gareth
Those, to my knowledge, are only the pages which received impressions (appeared in Google search results) and only for the last month. This is not the number of pages Google has indexed.
Using the site: command like you mentioned is the best way to get the number of pages indexed. Also, if you've submitted an XML sitemap to webmaster tools and you know its complete, WMT will tell you how many pages out of your sitemap are has indexed.

Hi Gareth,
If you want to check the number of indexed pages in Google then go to:
site configuration -> sitemaps
There you will have URLs submitted and URLs in web index.
I hope that helped,
Istvan

Does Widgetised Content Index The Same As A Regular Page
Hi, We have a website that was built in my opinion bizarrely where the bottom half of the page where most of the content is, is a widget. I just wondered if the content being in a widget is indexed any differently. I ask as normal pages seem to index and rank much better than the wordpress template using the widget. Hope someone might be able to clarify this. Thanks

What are the best practices for google indexing ajax response urls?
We just did a build to our site and our server erros went up to over 9,500. After looking into it, it seems like google is crawling the ajax urls and coming back with the errors. Here is one example http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&vehicleId=1423&webTypeId=68&navTitle=Drive&webCatId=9&prodFamilyId=29660 If you know of any good articles on this please send them my way.

What if Paginated Pages all have PageRank?
Paginated Pages, page 2,3,4 etc.... they aren't supposed to have a PageRank, right? If they are only linked to from themselves, only the original page, Page 1, is supposed to be showing PageRank? I'm trying to double check that I am handling this right. I'm not using canonical, or noindex or any of that... just using rel next and prev, which I thought would be fine. Thoughts?

Strange Keywords Google Webmaster Tools
Hey, I have a website about "coffee machines". Since a few months I added a vBulletin forum with vbSEO installed. The keywords Google found before I added the forum where highly related to the topic of my website (e.g. "coffee", "machine" etc), which I checked through the webmaster tools. However, I recently checked again and noticed that Google finds mostly keywords like "post", "forum", "thread", "share" etc. with high significance. Those "keywords" only appear on the forum. Now I'm a bit worried since Google states "These should reflect the subject matter of your site." Any advice how to solve that issue? Thanks!

E-Commerce product pages that have multiple skus with unique pages.
Hey Guys, With the recent farm/panda update from google i'm at a cross roads as to how I should optimize product pages for a project i'm working on for a client. My client sells tires and one particular tire brand can have up to 15 models and each model can have up to 30 sizes. IE: 'Michelin Pilot Sport Cup' comes in 15 different sizes. Each size will have it's unique product page and description bringing me to my question. Should I use the same description on every size? I do plan on writting unique content for each tire model however i'm not sure if I should do it for every size. After all the tire model description is the same for every size, each size doesn't carry any unique characteristics that I can describe. Thanks in advance!
