When editing your dofollow signature in forums, what happens with old posts?
-
Well hi there...!!?
Now, here's a scenario:
I've been anchortext linkbuilding (with success, wuhuuu!!) for a client through a couple of months and I've aggregated quite a few links from a series of 'solid' forums. The majority (we are 99!) of links are build using the signature in my posts and comments.
Now my client has shifted focus from this specific linkbuilding task and I have another client awaiting to "take the place in my signature".
How do I ensure that historical posts from client #1 stays unaltered, while new comments have client #2 in my signature?
A few after thoughts:
- Are there any automated ways to monitor the above mentioned scenario?
- What are the chances of getting penalized from the forum, loosing historical comments (links)
Tally ho! ;o)
-
Thanks guys

Casey is correct here - you don't want to use the same account to start building links for the new client. One good reason to create personas if you're going to be using the same community to build links for multiple clients (arguably not a good idea no matter what).
I'd expect if forum admins catch on to your scheme, they'll kick you (and all of your links).

Your old posts signature will be replaced with the new signature, there really no way around that.
Your best bet is to keep the current links on your current account, and create a new account for the new client.

Migrating blog posts to new site
I'm in the process of setting up a new site for a client, moving them over to WordPress from Joomla. They've got 50ish blog posts on their old site, but none of them have accumulated any external links. Is it worth it to copy them over to the new site for the sake of retaining all that content, or better just to start from scratch?

First Post! Local Electrician Site.
I have a site for a local electrician that I just can't seem to get to move up the SERPS. I've tried everything form on-page optimization to local link building but It seems to always hover around position 11-17 for my keyword 'electricians grimsby' - which is not very competitive. Any advice would be invaluable.

Pr4 domain backlink from a blog post
I'm about to do a guest blog post on a pr4 domain. Will I be getting an actual pr4 backlink? I'm thinking since it's technically not going to be on the homepage forever since it's just a blog post and also a blog post has it's on page once you click on it I'm not going to get a pr4 backlink. Correct?

Is blog commenting still useful for SEO, post Panda and Penguin?
One website I checked is ranking well on Google. Upon checking its backlinks, I found that most of them are blog comments. Is blog commenting still valuable? Anyone encountered any recent problem (ranks gone down, etc)? Are there any specific strategy to blog commenting these days? Thanks!

Are guest post exchanges an acceptable tactic?
Suppose you publish a guest post on a relevant and quality blog and then you have that site also write a guest post for you. Is this considered natural? What do you think of this tactic? Is there risk of a penalty for exchanging links?

Followed Links from random forums, is it worth?
I have a competitor that apeears first place in Google with a certain keyword, i explore their site, and they have a lots of forums poiting to their page. What they do is, just go to a random forum, comment some threat and they put the anchor in sig, with that keyword, linking to their page. Well, from what i read in SEOmoz articles, Google its no supose to penalyze this pages? Because thoose are pages (forums) that dont have nothing to do -subject- with the page that apears in first place? Its a good practise? Should i do the same (x2) to get the first place in google? (Sorry for my English) Thank you.
