Unique root linking domains - clarification

Hi guys,
In SEOMoz Search Ranking Factors, one of the the top ranking factors is number of unique root domains linking to the page:
http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors#metrics-5
My question is: do these unique root domains need to be unique root domains liking to my domain also?
E.g. www.mydomain.com/landingpage1/ already got a link from www.externaldomain.com
If www.externaldomain.com has another link pointing to www.mydomain.com/landingpage2/ will this link be counted? If yes will the value be diluted as www.externaldomain.com has already linked to www.mydomain.com/

As you were saying the 2nd link from same domain will be counted, will it be diluted in value even if it's from a different page to the first link?
E.g. Link 1: www.externaldomain.com/page1 linking to www.mydomain.com/page1
Link 2: www.externaldomain.com/page2 linking to www.mydomain.com/page2
Will the 2nd link lose some value as externaldomain.com already linked to mydomain.com?

Correct, Each unique linking domain linking to each page will be counted. One thing to keep in mind though, if you are receiving both links from the same page on externaldomain.com the second link to your domain will be diluted some. So if your going after multiple links from a same site, try getting them on different pages where you can have a unique link on separate pages.

Links not pointing to my website?
Aloha everyone! I've asked questions to the Moz community before and have always been happy to see how responsive and helpful the community is as a SEO learning new comer! Many thanks in advance for any ideas or insights to solving this problem. So here is my question, I own a wedding photography business here on Kauai and am looking to rank for a few things, Kauai wedding photographer, Kauai Wedding videographer, and Kauai family photographer. That aside I've been pouring more time into getting back links from people I've shot with here on Kauai (local business's websites etc) and have had links dropped in on their sites to, in theory, bump my rankings up from back linking my website. Here's my website http://www.balihaiphoto.com/ Here's a few sites but are not showing up as backlinks/pushing my site higher on SEO results (screen shot as well) http://www.haleleakeiki.org/ (bottom of page footer linking to BaliHaiPhoto.com) and another site here http://www.wishingwellshaveice.com/ with the same thing, footer link pointing to my website. Both sites have been indexed and the shave ice one gets a good amount of traffic, does anyone know why this isn't showing as a back link or if its passing on any link juice my way? URL open with double domain names when click on visit URL link in Google Analytics
I have configured Advance Filter to track the sub-domains traffic as follow : Filter

Links On Expired Domains
Does anybody know if a link on an expired domain affects your SEO? I'm just asking because the SEO agency we used before used to create websites and then link to our company - very spammy. We have since ditched this agecny, however they wanted an extortionate amount to remove these links. Therefore, we decided to wait until these domains expired and then the links wouldn't exist. However, I am now completing a link audit and some of these sites are still appearing in the results (obtained from Link Research Tools) but I cannot access the links because the domains have expired. Can anyone help?

Cannonical Links?
Hi guys, I recently started using Moz Analytics's for my site and it has told me that the vast majority (perhaps all) of my pages have duplicate content because Google will be indexing the version both with and without www. in front of it as seperate domains. I've done some research and have come across a few suggestions of what to do, but i'm not sure which to go with or how to actually implement it. Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Google WebMasters Tool - Preferred Domain
I just added Google Analytics to my wordpress site with Google Analytics by YOAST. I then added Google WebMaster tools through via verify through google analytics account. I then tried to set a preferred domain. I chose the non www. version; however, google wanted me to verify ownership of both versions in order to set a preferred domain. I then added the www. version of my domain. I was able to set the non-www. version to my preferred domain. Now, there are two example.com's in my webmaster tools. I have 10 sites. I intend to replicate this process on all of my sites. Do I have to leave the non-preferred version of my sites in the google webmaster? Can I delete it after I have set my preferred version? If I delete the non-preferred version will it delete my setting on the preferred version because it is now no longer verified (saved)?

How do shortened links show up in Google Analytics?
Hey, How do shortened links show up in GA? So if I tweet about something and use bitly, does twitter get the referral? I am thinking not. I have never seen bitly show up as a referrer, but we gets lots of clicks from those links. Hmmmm. Anyone? E
