SEO Architecture for several operating regions in Australia
-
Hi peoples,
I'm looking to expand my company (www.noyelling.com.au) from Brisbane to other major Australian cities, and really need to nail the way the site is set up and the SEO strategy before committing a lot of time, effort and money into getting top rankings in different cities around Oz.
Most of our SEO clout currently is on our home page, and it is optimised very heavily for Brisbane-specific keywords. My idea for new regions is to follow a similar approach by creating a new 'home' page for each new city (along with a separate pricing and service area page).
e.g.
etc etc
The idea would then be to build links and citations to each of these city-specific home pages to get them ranking for all the top local keywords.
Do you think this is the best way to go about this, or could I consolidate my efforts somehow?
Key considerations are:
- Need to develop a natural link profile
- Nail local SEO
- Quality usability for customers (arriving on a page for their city rather than having to navigate to their city)
-
Thanks for the contribution and link building recommendation.
Re. duplicate content, I'm very aware of the importance of completely reworking the content and tailoring each location-hub to that specific location.
Thanks again
-
Cheers Stephen, your recommendation is something I definitely had in the works, going to work on ranking the home page for 'driving school', 'driving lessons' and other general, nationally-applicable terms.
-
If you head down this route it is very important that you don't just take your page and re-make them verbatim with a new folder in front - search engines will consider this duplicate content.
You will need to tailor make your content per area and make it unique, which is sounds like you are going to do.
Re: link building, you could quite easily find out the IP address of the bigger influences in each city and target those as somewhere to star link building, that will give you relevance in the cities you are trying to target.

looks good
make a /brisbane too and once it ranks, then turn the homepage into driving school Australia

WordPress Themes and SEO
I am helping out a client with updating their website.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | cangelmarketer
The theme they currently have hasn't been updated in ages (I am going to guess years). Would there be a difference in updating to the most recent version of their theme and changing them to a completely different theme? Or because they update in the current theme is so large anyway, it won't make a difference in terms of SEO. The reason I ask is that they don't know their Themeforest details to log in and download the most recent version of the theme, so they would have to re-purchase it, and with the hosting, they have access to a range of themes includes in their package. Brightcove SEO Best Practices?
My company has decided to go with Brightcove as a video platform so we can better monetize all of the video content we create and better customize the experience as well. We have a pretty decent YouTube presence, and I won't let them stop using that because it would totally alienate us from part of our audience. So I was hoping someone could help me with the following: Are we able to keep videos hosted on YouTube as well as Brightcove without any risk of duplicate content? If we use the Brightcove player to embed videos in our on-site content, are we hindering potential organic search visibility? On the embeds, it's looking like it's using an iframe in our content (https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/sativa-indica-and-hybrid-whats-the-difference-between-cannabis-ty) - We're using a Brightcove WP plugin for the embed, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a better way to implement/if this is even an issue at all. Are there any other general best practices/insights anyone has working with this platform? I found this article on their site, but I was wondering if there was anything else I should consider. Thank you in advance for any insights/answers!

Multinational SEO
Hi all The situation: We have a .com website that is the core of our business over the last 3 years we have built this into a very sucessful brand. Customers are able to purchase products from our website and have it delivered anywhere in the world. As part of the development of our business we want to obviously rank high within serps regardless of what country our potential customer is from. We understand that we will need to translate much of our website to achieve this and that is something that we have in the pipeline. My question is more aimed at the English speaking countries and how we should optimise our website for these. For example: websitename.com.au and websitename.co.uk were initialy setup as 301 redirects to websitename.com, however, we have now set them up as their own domains which display the exact same content as the .com website. So to clarify the content on websitename.com/product1.html is also on websitename.com.au/product1.html and websitename.co.uk/product1.html What would the best way to ensure that our .com.au and .co.uk gain traction within the appropriate country? Is duplicate content still an issue? All our prices are displayed in USD will this go againts? We use US English (with a sprinkle of chinglish) as our websites copy languange should we change spelling for AU and UK? Does anyone have any case studies and or other reports I can read that may help me find the right solution for us. Thanks Danny

Images and SEO
Hi, I would like some opinions on the topic of using images for SEO. I have come across a few sites that I see have very few backlinks, but have decent pagerank and seem to rank well for certain keywords. One such site I looked at had very little content other than tons of images (It was a joke blog that focussed on funny images, funny pics etc) and now I am starting to question whether hotlinking images assists in SEO? are there any benefits to having someone using one of your images (hosted on your site) ? I do recall reading somewhere that someone hotlinking an image is akin to a link. Any truth in this?

Right SEO strategy for Wordpress
Hello all, I am working on my SEO strategy for a WordPress site. I am trying to cover all my keywords in: 1.a) Page title trying to have a length <70 1.b) Page url trying to have a length<115 My question is: should i try to focus all my keywords in both name and url page path? or only in the Page title as the SEOMOZ's guide suggest? I would go for a mix strategy with my keywords in both page title and url path name, but I do not know if the search engines PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE PAGE TITLE, so mixing 1.a) and 1.b) would mean I am loosing keywords. I am using the WordPress All in ONE SEO Plugin. Do you recommend me this or any other plugin? This plugin has 3 input fields: a) Title tag b) Description tag c) Keywords My questions here are: a) If these tags replace the standard settings of WP as described in point 1.a) b) If the description and title tags are META TAGS that are not taken into account in terms of SEO but in terms of customer description of the contento of the page. c) Where are the keywords listed inserted in the page? In H1, H2, H3 and H4 tags? My feeling after reading the SEOMOZ guide is that this plugin is not providing any added value for SEO any more??' Thank you very much, Best regards, Antonio Alcocer

SEO Feedback Please
Hi, I was hoping to get some feedback on this site's SEO: http://www.chantre.com/ I also have different URLs which can be accessed from the left side of the site under "Quick Search Links" that go to the different offices within this company. Thoughts on how to improve would be great. Thanks in advance.
